One of my favorite bands ever but I never understood why they ever had a second guitarist. Like, even when they were a 5 piece they still sounded like the trio we've all grown to love
I don't know when exactly this video was shot but it could be Duane Timlin, who played drums on the War of Attrition album, though he was replaced by Trey the same year the album came out.
@@Xplora213 yeah, maybe. What irks me is people throw that term and also others around without knowing what it means. In metal, chances are that at least the kick drums are triggered, some bands also do so for the snare, but it is seen less frequently. Quantization, equalization and sample replacement is another beast altogether and even some top shelf drummers use quantization sometimes. It does not mean they are not tight live, but also during recording, they are no robots and might fuck up here and there though. Studio time is expensive, so you opt for digitally altering your songs instead of Re recording everything again. So in total, not much or rather nothing has changed recording wise for Dying Fetus. They triggered kicks back in the day, they do so now. What OP could have said is that he doesn't like production or sound of recent drums. That is fine, as taste in sound is subjective. Pretending to know they "changed" while throwing terms around you obviously have no clue about makes you sound like a tool.
Luemm3l it’s quite saddening but I don’t mind overtriggered drums if the timing is obviously real. There is no way they aren’t ruining the drum takes these days, and I have very little faith that the guitars are the real deal as well. The whole metal genre has become a mess in the recording process, no one plays their own parts. Irony is they are making less money than ever with this madness (new bands). Protools ruined everything... not because quantising is wrong but because it destroys the humanity of the players. I really really really hate EDM and all that stuff. Snapping to a grid sounds bad. And they can’t play the music live because it is simply not playable. Cannibal Corpse remains the most popular band because they actually play everything and it sounds real because of it. Sure, compress your drums. Sound replace. Tidy it up with punch ins. Stupid levels and reverbs. Be creative. But once you snap that shit to a grid, you might As well just play the parts with an Ableton pad.
@@Xplora213 ehm, I have seen Dying Fetus multiple times lie and they can reproduce how they sound on record, so no, I dont think that the old days were "better". it is just how music works, it is convenience and while I myself am not a recording, touring musician, I can imagine that for most bands, technology has made things easier for them and that is a good thing.

One of the sickest death metal bands around. They never disappoint
They never disappoint that's straight up excellence

Literally everything about this song is perfect.
