It doesn’t excuse murder but I have a lot of questions. How did UHC make billions in profit last year? How are millions of Americans struggling to pay their hospital bills? How are we the rochest country yet are #42 in life expectancy? Why are many Americans afraid to go to the hospital for fear of not being able to afford care? It’s sickening
#42 for life expectancy is because its brought down by many different factors. one of the largest (pun semi-intended) factors is probably due to how unhealthily Americans live, specifically the insane rates of obesity which comes with a whole bundle of health risks and a much shorter life expectancy. It is 100% valid to say that health insurance companies and their policies NEED to be looked into, but they're not necessarily responsible for everything. also, part of the reason health insurance companies in the US make so much money (and seem so scummy, and likely are to some extent) is in part due to how little effort americans put into living healthy lives. Too many people maintain terrible habits that cause issues, especially later in life, and then are all of a sudden *surprised* that they're dying or have cancer or diabetes, or other serious conditions. that puts a lot of strain on the healthcare system, and makes health insurance way less profitable because they're way more likely to have to pay for customer's treatments. private health insurance is a business, and must be profitable so that those who work in that sector can be payed. could things be simplified? yep. could certain individuals be paid WAY less? hell yeah. does it still need to be profitable? also yes, else it becomes nothing but a drain, and the balance that would otherwise go unpaid will inevitably be picked up by the gov (aka, your taxes), because if it isn't no one will work in a dying sector.
@@avaliantsoul5408 and this... this is why universal healthcare is growing in popularity in the US. When the middle man is profit driven, of course denying service becomes the goal.
Illegal immigrants are receiving care as well as homeless people who choose to remain homeless while the rest of us have to pay to compensate for those losses. If you get a CT scan and you have insurance, they bill $2600. If you don't have insurance, you only get billed for $750. It isn't just the insurance companies. It's the billing process from the hospitals and offices.
@@avaliantsoul5408your take is horrible by the simple fact that your arguments are hollow. All the issues you point to are literally connected with each other. Especially the first one about how unhealthy Americans are lol. If you don’t think the medical industry/ health insurance and the food industry are a conjoined group then I have news for you…
UHC only made like a 6% profit last year. In my view they basically have to make 5% to even be in business. They need to be able to reinvest a small amount of profit into the business and pay a healthy dividend for anyone to want to own the company. 6% means they could invest 3% and pay a dividend of 3% hypothetically. Still, not a business I would ever invest in. Thus, this narrative that they are somehow this evil corporation screwing people is naive and mathematically incorrect. If they did allow all claims to be accepted the customers would likely need to pay 2x or 3x the premiums. At some point you say what rational young healthy American is going to buy health insurance if the cost goes from $6,000 to $12,000 or $16,000? 100k is a great income...would I spend 16k to insure my health? No. I would take my risk with bankruptcy. A single person making $100k is already lighting 35k or so on fire via taxes, 16k for health insurance, big number for rent....those economics are ridiculous. And this is the problem. It's not that insurance companies are evil, it's that we have printed way too much money via debt and doctors and specialists now command insane salaries, the cost of running hospitals is insane, and the admin costs are absurd. So healthcare costs are insane and everyone in this country neglects their health thus they expect a specialist for every little issue that is a result of poor lifestyle ie general health, exercise, food. How could this be fixed? Get rid of Obamacare. Go back to simple insurance policies. For example, what I want: I want a plan where I pay for all health costs in the year up to $20k. After that I want insurance to pay for everything. I had that plan before Obamacare and my rep (who does not work for an insurance company) told me she could no longer get me that plan after Obamacare was passed. I was forced to get on a plan where I am subsidizing the kind of American that goes into their doctor monthly...and we have millions of those people.
I agree this isn't a political thing because people from right and left have been done wrong by the healthcare system. I was waiting for Amir to make this video💚
Sadly the ones making it political are the big time political commentators like DW and Fox News trying to claim only the left are fine with this happening while completely ignoring the fact we have a huge problem with our health care system and shaming anyone who complains
@@Lawrence_Talbotsure not CNN or MSNBC or PBS or The times I'm sorry what conservative news again? Cause all I can think of is fox news while every other news station is a democratic funded propaganda machine
It’s political political but people need to be pointing fingers at both parties who are complacent because they receive huge donations from the insurance execs. The government will never put forth a solution that makes insurance not for profit because they lose funds when they do that. But anyone pointing fingers at one side or the other needs to wake up. They are all rotten.
Syria has fallen. Russia was bombed by American missiles. Biden sold some of the southern border. All of this in the span of 2 weeks. But yall talking about a murder who is cute……😂wtf is wrong with yall
Rational take, that's why I like Amir and watch his videos. Also my name is Mario IRL and this is a very serious topic BUT it's also pretty funny to imagine that Luigi is my brother and that he lost his way after we saved Peach and lost our purpose in life.
@sarachiichan if I'm being real with you, I actually feel more empathetic about it all cause of a shared cultural heritage and I'm just dealing with feeling sad by making a joke. The surname Mangione is southern Italian and I'm that too. I wonder if he knew his Nonno and Nonna? I wonder if they all got together for an Italian Christmas eve feast like my family used to? Did he grow up hanging out with a big extended family? I wonder if he has alot of cousins and if he was close with them? Was he raised Catholic too? I could go on and on. I feel very ambivalent and conflicted about it all. It feels like wasted potential more than anything to me and that's tragic imo. Making me cry now so I'll stop here. Ty to anyone who reads my rant.
I am not glad that a man is dead and I do not want others to die, but at the same time, I hope this will be a wake up call to other CEOs that if they keep abusing the desperate masses, individuals will rise up against them. I hope that they change their policies so that no one has a reason to rise up against them.
Money is the root of all evil; humans sell their souls (look at the music industry) and even their mother for a dollar. Absolutely nothing is gonna change. CO'S are accountable to their shareholders, so you really think ...
Do you mean news media? Because there are plenty of people all over social media that are backing him even if he is guilty and plenty who think he is being framed & feel for him.
The most infuriating thing about this is the media. I have not seen a single large media outlet talk about why people have no empathy for the ceo. It just highlights how much money is behind corporate media across the board. I already had little faith in it due to their inability to talk about things in a neutral way, but this kind of solidifies that journalism seems to be dead.
I think the reason people lack vigor for Luigi is because 1. A lot of Americans felt a sense of catharsis and justice through that assassination. And 2. This is the school shooter generation, we are desensitized to gun violence. At least it was a money hungry CEO and not a 12 year old in a school. It’s not that he shouldn’t have died, it’s that if we are gonna plot this on an empathy scale. This one ranks pretty low.
As a Medical Coder myself, I can confirm that overall all insurance companies are like spoiled brats. They will keep all the money and will keep on making excuses for not giving it up, even if lives are on the line. UHC is bad, but all of them will deny for ridiculous reasons. Even so, that doesn’t make it right on what happened to the CEO or anyone else who works for these companies.
So you admit that these companies ruthlessly deny healthcare, which in some cases will involve people dying, but say the repercussions of causing desperation is morally wrong? This misguided morality is why corporate America is getting away with cruel exploitation of Americans: people are brainwashed into acceptance and submission.
@@eleganthavocI'm a medical coder too. When I worked in billing, the worst claim I saw was the entire balance for a 15 min PCP visit was put towards a $6,000 annual deductible. Had to figure out a payment plan for the poor guy since that insurance was never going to pay with a deductible that high. The most annoying denials were because the patient didn't fill out the coordination of benefits paperwork that most patients didn't even know they had to do. The absolute worst denial is Medicare denying an A1c test (3 months blood sugar) because the patient isn't diabetic. The doctor uses that test to diagnose diabetes. I could go on a long rant about how much I hate Medicare.
as someone who is more center-right, probably. idk I haven't taken a political test in a while. I think Luigi Mangione should be convicted for murder, because thats what the law is. But I also think the government should start asking where this train of thought came from, because I do think it has come from a real place of pain that more than just Luigi Mangione have fel, and they should like... *do something about that.* There isn't really anything partisan about this, the healthcare system affects us all.
Actually DOJ has been investigating United Healthcare, Currently there is a Lawsuit against Brian Thompson and two other Execs concerning Insider trading.
There's no proof he committed murder. The man in the video is a hired assassin who knew exactly where to be at the exact time, was a skilled marksman, and made a clean getaway. This young man was likely MK Ultra'd to take the fall for this. He's wealthy and can pay for his own healthcare. None of this makes any sense, even down to how he was apprehended.
My son came home a few days ago. He’s in 11th grade and in the legal academy for reference and he said in class they discussed this and while they don’t support murder they understand why. I didn’t really look into it lately but I see my son is right. Health insurance is corrupt and needs to change either way.
This is a prime example of Duality, meaning two or more things can be true at once. Somewhat related, no insurance company should ever have the ability to decide which people need what care as they are NOT medically qualified to decide that. Additionally, the lobby groups who've poured this wine that the major corporations used to get greed drunk should be held fully accountable and prosecuted in my opionion. Aside from all that, that same CEO was under investigation for several things including insider trading and other illicit activities. So it seems odd this all happens with a tiddy neat lil bow on top closing it off.
I condone it. Why should we feel bad about a terrible person who does terrible things being sent to meet their judgement early? Maybe if people like him start getting what's coming to them, they won't be so openly evil.
I’m actually surprised how much I don’t care about what happened to this guy. I heard about terrible things he’s implemented which caused even more people to get denied… idk if he doesn’t care about innocent people in their lowest points of their lives, I don’t care about him in return.
Also for the record, the bodycount of the UHC CEO is actually MUCH LARGER than anyone has even tried to say he's responsible for yet. Because you know what deaths you're all not counting? ALL OF THE DEATHS CAUSED BY CRIMINALS THAT BECAME CRIMINALS BECAUSE OF BEING PUSHED INTO POVERTY BY THIS UHC CEO.
By this logic, if you get a job instead of someone else, and that person then becomes a violent criminal because they don't have a job, you are at fault for all the deaths and crimes that person commits.
Committing a crime because you’re poor is still a crime. The only time I’ve ever stole was for batteries. Dish soap. Sponges. Paper towels. Etc. home goods essentially. I’m not gonna sugar coat shit and say “it’s a crime of poverty” Crime is crime. Doesn’t matter who or why. People saying it’s racist that Walmarts are leaving cities. But people like you have no problem with people stealing because they’re homeless.
Nobody is surprised. I’ve had my share of troubles with insurance. Fighting them to approve a claim. I won but they’re cruel and ruthless.. trying to use any excuse whatsoever to get out of paying a valid claim… If I was a healthcare insurance chief I sure would be beefing up my security and work on having a major restructure plan coming soon . Very soon
I'm disabled and qualify for medicade. When I was accepted for coverage I chose United to be my provider. I was later dropped for no apparent reason. I don't think the guy should have been murdered. Medicine in the US is more expensive because insurance companies drive up prices. I worked in Veterinary medicine and placed orders for the same medical equipment used for humans and the prices hospitals charge is extremely inflated. It needs to be fixed!
South Park I think covers this jokingly in an episode where the boys throw ninja stars at butters and it gets stuck in his eye. So they dress him up like a dog to get him treatment instead of taking him to a hospital.
@johnnoreau3570 sadly, I think my Veterinarian would do a better job treating me than the VA. I'm sure there are good people at the VA, but they have to follow the governments rules and I really don't trust either.
Thank god, Amir came in clutch!! I had this debate with my husband, the CEO was the scape goat, the ones who are ACTUALLY responsible are the ones who walked over his corpse to go to the meeting. Sooo…like what change? I don’t feel bad for him, I’m just like this ain’t the flex they think it is~ Hoping for change, but skeptical it will be permanent 🤷🏻♀️
like luigi said, it won’t make much of a difference, but look how one man has united our country better than any politician has. i don’t understand ppl who say luigi resulting to this is completely wrong when there’s thousands if not millions of hard working americans dealing with the greed of american health insurance companies every single day. luigi spoke for us in a (admittedly violent) and loud manner, but guess what? now everyone is talking about this big issue and that’s the impact that matters.
@haobiniez agree, it's annoying when people are like "this isn't gonna change anything", um, it's more than YOUVE ever done and of course one person isn't going to be able to fix everything. It's like the movie v for vendetta, it's about the symbol of rebellion and eventually hope, a symbol can change everything.
I appreciate how you always steel man your positions and consider as many viewpoints as possible instead of knee-jerkingly take a side fully and denigrating anyone with a different viewpoint. We can condemn something while understanding why others condone it and vice versa.
I lean more right in my thinking and I could not be a juror. I could not convict this guy. Just could not do it. Smart kid who unfortunately sacrificed himself to try to shed light on something that HAS TO CHANGE> These companies are parasites and greedy af
@@SadMr.Dookiee yes it’s called jury nullification. It occurs when you acknowledge that a crime happens but do not think the guilty party should serve time for it. I imagine many would agree that yes he murdered Brian Thompson but they also do not think it’s the end of the world and should be let go. Tbh, this is the one time I’ve ever hoped Alvin Bragg would drop a case, or hope Biden pardons him. This man has the nations support and convicting him will not fix anything
@SadMr.Dookiee can't convict a man who took care of a CEO who is directly responsible for policies that have led to the death of thousands of people. If you've ever dealt with the medical system or lost somebody because they were denied care that insurance should have covered, you'd understand.
Amir, I just want to say that you are one of the BEST people in media in 2024. Good luck in your new home, and I wish for your dreams to keep coming true next year and beyond.
Coming from someone who stays mostly out of most controversy, feels like people are treating this murder like killing a cartel/terrorist leader. They have vilified someone who has killed thousands of people (legally indirectly but come on put it in perspective they just denied people the right to get life saving care). The only reason people are on different sides is because it was done between US citizens. Thats my view on it. Pretty short sighted due to my lack of knowledge of all of it and mostly getting info from all the reactions. It kinda gives the same vibes of the presidential announcements of when they killed those leaders. People just lost empathy for the ones who actively harms us. There has to be a change to how the system goes and its really is not gonna with most forms. There needs to be laws for stuff like insurance companies like there is for food companies.
I'm seeing this kind of thinking all over, and it really bugs me. You say they "denied people the RIGHT to get life saving CARE." This is false. Health care isn't a right, and it's not provided by insurance companies. It's a service that you can request from anyone who provides that service, that they will in turn offer to sell you under conditions they find acceptable (where, when, and for how much, for example) and if you don't like those conditions they don't have to bend to your will and provide you with it as you will it, because it's not a right they have to fulfill for you. They can refuse to give you service and tell you to look elsewhere. And none of this has anything to do with the insurance company yet. Insurance companies offer you a coverage plan for certain amounts of money towards certain procedures or medications with certain health care providers. It doesn't save lives and never did, it only offers conditional protection for your bank account in the event a health problem will land you with a massive bill. And not only is it not a right, it's not something you are forced to buy. So for all the people who think health insurance is just a scam that rips people off, don't buy it. Save the money you would have spent on a premium and pay your own bills. But people don't like that, do they? Cause insurance is only a scam when they personally have not yet received more money from the company than they paid to it in the first place.
@@jachyra4 reminder that a lot of people are already paying for it and yet still get denied, thats like paying for your food but the cook can just say, nah i aint gonna cook for you. You can technically ask for a reduction because the hospital prices are to scam insurance companies for a tax break but thats it, why do we have tye middle man? Oh wait because all of america was roped into it. Yes insurances dont exactly save lives but they are also the part that directly tells the doctors about being denied so they cant save lives either.
Fun Fact: The CEO does not read every single insurance claim and decide which ones to deny and which ones to accept with comically oversized green and red stamps! In fact, he likely had almost nothing to do with the process of denying or accepting claims and likely just ran the strictly business end of things. And now that he is dead, his children have no father and the company will replace him in a few weeks and nothing will change.
@ if you go more into it, its was to send a message. Most of the claims are denied by a bot anyways. The problem is why can claims be denied in the first place if people are paying for a service.
I can vouch that insurance companies deny a ridiculous amount of claims. I'm an Insurance Specialist and I work all the insurance companies claims for certain facilities... they are notorious for denying or delaying payments, but the providers are also really horrible at getting authorization for the correct codes that will be used for the services within a timely manner.
Politics aside, thank you so much for the outro sending encouragement for everyone.❤ With all that is going on in the world right now, it's hard to continue to belive in one self and pursue our dreams. Any motivation is greatly appreciated at this point.😅
I gotta say you do amazing work on this channel, Amir!! You really do your best to explore on all angles and look at different perspectives and you really try to open your mind than most people. There's a reason why I enjoy your content and you as a person or your channel in general!!
He seems to have complete his goal. The message that was sent was, "I want people to look at this system and talk about how broken it is," and that's exactly what people are doing. I expect by next week, he'll start being photoshopped into Joker memes.
I am not attracted to men but yeah he is a good looking guy . I don't believe he was working alone . Luigi somehow knew where to find the CEO and at a time he had no bodyguards. It's kinda suss .
All he had to do was find out that there was a shareholder meeting and be waiting outside of the CEO's hotel. Doesn't sound like it would be impossible.
@s.d.9543 what about the bodyguards, it's said he would travel with them . And was he leaving a meeting ? I can't remember hearing that . I could be mistaken .
@@G.R.A.322 Im seeing alot of crazy rumours, one that Brian was supposed to testify against Pelosi, and another that Pelosi actually has ties to the Mangione family.
What fascinates me about the entire thing is how one man whose name we've only know for a week has managed to unite the entire country; something no politician has been able to do in a long time.
Alll insurance is fucked. We have cigna. My husband has been on insulin since hes 7 years old... weve had cigna for 15 years.... why is he all of a sudden the past couple years having a hard time getting his insulin ..... he needs it to live. Literally. Like wtf?! Why is this a problem all of a sudden? Why does insurance have a say over drs?
I get both sides. On one hand he is a human being with a family and we’re a nation of laws and this can NOT be tolerated. On the other hand he was the head of what most of us believe is a criminal organization. Health care indirectly kills millions and this system needs to be changed drastically. Violence is definitely not the action we should take but I DO hope something good comes out of this disaster and change IS made.
Again, I agree with you. I can understand why some people are not upset about this killing and are sympathetic to the killer. Which is sad and shows that our healthcare system is definitely in trouble. I also can not justify vigilante justice as that will only get us further from fixing the problem. I am hoping that RFK can do what he says and help get our healthcare (and therefore the insurance companies) back on track to actually making us healthier.
I love how you always end your videos on a positive and motivational note. I'm so happy things are going so well for you. All your blessings are well deserved ❤
I think at best people who don't condone the murder still dont have high empathy. Moderates like me do not think murder was the answer but are not exactly grieving
I was just talking to my friend about this. I feel the same as you Amir. I don’t condone what happened to the ceo. However, he has done some not so good things. You can’t mess with people that have nothing to loose and then complain when they do something crazy. I really feel for his family and the victims of his horrible insurance policies so it’s a very double edged sword.
Peaceful revolutionary idea: Insurance workers should band together and APPROVE EVERY CLAIM. Spending money helping people would make the CEO’s and shareholders more concerned and angry than anything! Also side note: congrats Amir on buying a house that is amazing ❤️🙏🏼
I do have some similar issues with healthcare and its corruption, but I will *never* plan something as sick as what he did. Not only because of how he’s a family man but also it’s a heavy burden for a person’s conscious, at least for me. At the end of the day, his actions make sense in an emotional aspect but it should never excuse his actions. Hopefully justice prevails in both the criminal getting a long jail time and the company’s turning a new the leaf.
The companies won't change. Stuff like this needs to start happening more for change to happen. The people need to grow some balls and start fighting again.
A “family man”. My guy his kids are in college. Let’s not act like he’s raising little ones. They will inherit more money than we will ever see in our lifetimes. Also the whole “he had a wife and kids thing” is a poor excuse to sympathize over evil. Sinwar had a wife and kids and I don’t see anyone crying over him. Stalin, Castro, Chavez and many others had a family. Does that mean we should’ve mourned their passings? Heck no. What about Osama? He had wives and kids. Point is it’s an L take by conservatives who know they are losing their audience on this one and so they scraping for anything that may drum up support for their side.
Lmao “turning a new leaf” they literally walked over Brian and hired a new CEO less than an hour after he died. Andrew Witty defended their practices. The company will never turn a new leaf, and you will be scammed.
@@coltonwilkie241not an intelligent take. Those who think we need more of this don’t understand the root of the issue. Intimidating healthcare companies by making employees fear for their safety is barbaric and unhelpful. Peacefully protest and put pressure on the lawmakers who allow this system to exist and contribute to it by fucking with the economy. These price caps make everything worse, disrupting the market will never have no consequences. Tell the AHA and lobbyist groups to stand down because all they do is hike prices of medical services in the name of paying doctors more (more than they need!). Think about the system that incentivized UHC to deny claims (also, claims get denied if you’re asking for something you’re not covered for, you don’t actually need, or your paperwork is filled out wrong). It’s not all just “I’m a greedy CEO looking to make a little extra today”. However, the companies are incentivized to make paperwork complicated so they don’t have to approve claims. But that’s really not the main point at all. The main point is that there are always going to be greedy people who take advantage of systems. We can’t, nor should we, kill them all, they’ll always be around. Instead advocate for complete reform of the system that incentivizes denying claims and that drives the prices of medical care unnecessarily high
Yeah that wont happen. Interesting that you think the guy who murdered one person should get a long time in jail but those who systematically deny lifesaving healthcare should 'turn a new leaf'. Amazing how media can brainwash people into accepting and submitting to their own suffering and oppression.
This isn't gonna change the fact that theyre just gonna replace him with someone even worse. Imagine getting the EA CEO running a health insurance agency?
I live in a country where i can walk into a hospital at anytime and be seen (there may be a wait). I could also pay about $40 to see a private doctor so paying out of pocket is possible. We can also call a social service team to come help anyone in need at anytime. So much better not to have a profit motive in medicine. It should not be a business -- which is controlled by private equity -- at all.
This whole thing smells fishy. They said the shot could only be taken by an expert and they arrest some college kid and they say that they found the killer’s jacket yet he wore the exact same clothes when they found him. And who tf walks around with a manifesto days after the killing? So many things just dont make sense
I have been waiting on you to cover this! Internet culture is so strange waaaay too many people coming out of the woodworks glorifying Luigi and what he did. I can sympathize with how he feels towards the healthcare industry, but this is not the way to make a message. people will interpret his reasons in many different ways and use it as an excuse to kill people they feel at odds with simply because "they had it coming".
One thing I notice missing from the discussion is the Affordable Care Act AKA Obamacare. In my state (MA) insurers must compete in a marketplace where they detail their plans and the cost to the consumer. Each insurer strives to offer the best sounding plan for the lowest price because price has the greatest weight on the consumer's purchase. They may or may not read the fine print detailing how health decision might be made by the insurer and not by medical professionals. The origin of paying exorbitantly for healthcare, and the less than comparable quality began with President Nixon. In 1973, the Health Maintenance Organization Act was signed as a favour to Edgar Kaiser, his friend. The HMO Act allowed clinics, health insurance companies and doctors to act as for-profit business entities. This meant that such establishments ceased to be the service entities they were created to be. Kaiser-Permanente was the first health insurance provider to benefit from the HMO Act. I think this was also a US Supreme Court case but I'm not too sure about that. Love you, Amir.
It needs to be illegal for a health insurance company to deny coverage. If they believe a customer filed a false claim, or some such, they should then be allowed to take the customer to court and sue them for the money.
Yeah, when I heard about it I was like, "I mean, this was coming. I'm not even shocked with some of the stories I've heard." I agree with your assessment. It's horrific, truly, but it's even sadder that I find myself not feeling sorry much for the guy or his family. They must all be hurting, and yet...well, chronic health issues and bad insurance are a terrible combo. They can be a headache at best and a nightmare at worst.
I never had insurance until this year when i got married. I had a half a year, but i wasnt able to get on a list to even see a doctor. I just thought you went and saw them when you needed something. I have insurance and i couldn't even use it.
I just got insurance for my first time in my life since living with my parents and I’m worried about the same thing. I need to get my teeth cleaned. Eyes fixed and haven’t seen a doctor for a checkup in a decade. I could have all kinds of issues and don’t even know but don’t even know where to start because I just got insured. 😖 my parents made it clear when I turned 18 I was on my own and never taught me about insurance or making my own appointments.
What I have not heard yet, is *_how did he know that the CEO would be in NYC that morning, at that location?_* Are there *others* that helped the murderer with the CEO's travel itinerary??? 🤔
Congrats on the house! We don't have a "healthcare" system. We have a "sickcare" system that doesn't want to cure people. They want to keep people sick and dependent on pharma. Like you, I don't condone violence as an answer but I definitely had a "meh" reaction when it happened.
In short he took the law into his own hands to bring justice in a lot of people minds when our Law enforcement and Politicians seems to be corrupt and turn a blind eye.
Even with universal healthcare, there’s still a two-tier system. Wealthier people get better services through private options, like exclusive hospital wings or private hospitals. Universal care often has long waits and limited advanced treatments, so those with money go private. It’s unfortunate but true.
Depends what you define as wrong. America exists only because of violence aka the revolution. Now that does not mean I think our revolution was wrong, but rather when there is great injustice done and the powers that be (the government, laws, etc) fail to protect the people then at some point the people are left to take matters into their own hands. We can agree murder is wrong, but the sad reality is this death had to happen to finally get everyone to start talking about the failure our health care system. The bigger question that needs to be asked is what happens next?
So osama bin laden shouldn't have been killed either, he should had been captured, given a fair trial, and then put on a jail where he would had learned to behave properly, right? Yeah, I don't think so, this is just fake moralism that people preach but don't actually believe in.
Yall up here acting like you didn't see the first Incredibles movie when Mr Incredible worked for that insurance company. HE TRIED TO TELL YALL INSURANCE COMPANIES AINT SHIT!!!
Thank you for another video, I appreciate the work you put into them and the way you deliver the information. Also, congratulations on your home 😁 I'm very happy for you.
First off, congratulations on you new home Amir! 🎉 Secondly, I agree with you 100%. He could have went about this completely different instead of taking a human life. Yes, the healthcare industry is corrupt and something needs to be done about it. But as brilliant and smart as he is, he could have been part of the solution. Unaliving someone, was not the answer. Now he looks like a madman. I also learned that he drew inspiration from the Unabomber. But he should have paid more attention because the Unabomber's actions did not lead to the change that he wanted to see in corporate America. There's alot of parallels between the two cases... Both cases lead to intelligent men being put behind bars. Truly a waste.
"He could have went about this completely different?" In what way? What could anyone have possibly done that would have started this much conversation? It's not like we haven't all been aware of this problem for decades. I'm all ears for how you believe someone could do this better and in a different way.
When a Dr. Orders a test they get no money then why is that request from a DOCTOR deny????????? One can not get blood work, prescriptions without a Dr. Written request? Answer to that they have a license. There are many drugs also deny even when the criteria its clear.🤯🤯??????????
I'm old enough to remember when shooting someone in the back was considered an act of cowardice. This person, who said in his own manifesto that, "I do not have space, and frankly I do not pretend to be the most qualified person to lay out the full argument", decided that killing a man was his best next step. That's twisted and the people that think this was justified are morally lacking. Also, I bet if this guy looked like a troll a whole lot of people would be condemning him instead of singing his praises.
Right, but people like you who support monsters like that CEO aren't morally lacking in your mind, correct? Yet how many thousands or tens of thousands of people have died because of that CEO? How many criminals became criminals and harmed other people because of that CEO driving them into poverty? You're actually worse than anyone you're trying to judge.
You weren't online for all the days that no one had seen his pictures huh? He was the people's hero long before people saw what he looked like. It's an excuse you're making because you like the taste of boots and that's okay.
I disagree. We need a healthcare revolution in this country, and revolutions are never had by standing around and abiding by a corrupt, abusive system and hoping that voting democratically will eventually work, though it hasn't in decades. This was a revolutionary move, and it's already sparked swift change.
I did the basic plan on ground news. It's $10 for the year, and i use it almost every day 👍 might upgrade soon for the other features. The price is affordable
It is wrong to condone senseless violence… but this was not senseless. America was built on the backs of people who experienced political and financial corruption and finally said “ENOUGH!” Our founding fathers tried using paperwork first through the Declaration of Independence, but when that didn’t work, they fought for our freedom. The American people have tried using paperwork to fight for the healthcare promised by UHC and other insurance companies, but it hasn’t worked. The justice system isn’t holding health insurance companies accountable for the suffering and death that ensues from them changing and breaking their contracts and refusing to cover life-saving care. The leaders of our nation justify war all the time. So tell me, was this murder, or was it the shot heard ‘round the world that marks the beginning of a war?
This should serve as the ultimate tipping point regarding everything wrong with America's healthcare system where universal healthcare should finally be implemented there.
Personally, Im kind of worried about universal healthcare, honestly. My big thing, worry, is wait times. It is already a problem in other countries with universal healthcare. So there'd have to be a way to make it faster, or I don't think it'll work on a national level.
@@user-cf6fo6bj1uIt maybe flawed but it’s valid. Waiting time in universal healthcare countries is horrible. What we need is both a public and private healthcare system and Independent private practices. And stop subsidies for insurance companies.

I have insurance with United and I’m currently pregnant. So far, my appointment claims have been denied but none of my labs have. What u have to do is have a fun little “go-between” with the billing department at the hospital and insurance. I basically have to show the hospital where I’m supposed to be covered, recode each appointment to fit since Insurance wants to argue, go back to my insurance and get a refund for my denied claim. It’s a dang process and sometimes, it’s not worth it for $80. However, when it’s $40,000 and you’re being hospitalized and CANT do that process, it’s the matter of life or death. So yeah, our medical system is broken. I spend nearly $500 a month, over 12 months, every single year. So far it’s amounted to $12,000 since switching to United Health. I have claimed less than $3,000 in appointments and emergencies (that’s being generous 🙄) Not to mention, how sketchy they are about changing your insurance cost without you knowing or approving and changing policies without adequate notification and providing the new documentation. It’s always a “whoops our bad we will get that to you” and then 3 months go by without a policy packet. So yeah, I get why people hated the CEO. However, that CEO is going to be replaced tomorrow and nothing will change. It’s the lobbying abilities of these dang companies that’s the real issue. They should NOT be allowed to manipulate our government to serve themselves.
I don’t understand, we have all this information on this guy but when it came to the trump shooters it was like there was nothing on them.. correct me if I’m wrong
13:35 in my experience, one side certainly is a bit more happy about this, but i think people on both sides have some level of understanding of what he did, why he did it, and i think both sides are very hopeful that this will be a wake-up call to the country's ultra wealthy. if it's not treated as a wake up call, I am very concerned about what's to come.

We all can relate to each other more than we can with the ruling class.
The only one making it political are the conservative media gaslighting everyone
Sadly the ones making it political are the big time political commentators like DW and Fox News trying to claim only the left are fine with this happening while completely ignoring the fact we have a huge problem with our health care system and shaming anyone who complains

EVERY major large media outlet has done a piece on this.
This whole idea of measuring certain deaths over others is a waste of time and irrelevant to the issue at hand.
Ok death farmer.
So you admit that these companies ruthlessly deny healthcare, which in some cases will involve people dying, but say the repercussions of causing desperation is morally wrong? This misguided morality is why corporate America is getting away with cruel exploitation of Americans: people are brainwashed into acceptance and submission.
How? How does it not make it right? They keep letting us die and then get to run off with our hard earned money for what?
What's the worse claim denial you've seen during your time working?

But I also think the government should start asking where this train of thought came from, because I do think it has come from a real place of pain that more than just Luigi Mangione have fel, and they should like... *do something about that.* There isn't really anything partisan about this, the healthcare system affects us all.
🥾👅
Exactly. Thank you!
Like the government ever cared about the best interest of the people in the first place.

ALL OF THE DEATHS CAUSED BY CRIMINALS THAT BECAME CRIMINALS BECAUSE OF BEING PUSHED INTO POVERTY BY THIS UHC CEO.
truth

By this logic, if you get a job instead of someone else, and that person then becomes a violent criminal because they don't have a job, you are at fault for all the deaths and crimes that person commits.
Lmao if anyone actually listens to this and attributes that to the ceo, you’re as stupid as Luigi
Committing a crime because you’re poor is still a crime. The only time I’ve ever stole was for batteries. Dish soap. Sponges. Paper towels. Etc. home goods essentially. I’m not gonna sugar coat shit and say “it’s a crime of poverty”
Crime is crime.

Hoping for change, but skeptical it will be permanent 🤷🏻♀️
like luigi said, it won’t make much of a difference, but look how one man has united our country better than any politician has. i don’t understand ppl who say luigi resulting to this is completely wrong when there’s thousands if not millions of hard working americans dealing with the greed of american health insurance companies every single day. luigi spoke for us in a (admittedly violent) and loud manner, but guess what? now everyone is talking about this big issue and that’s the impact that matters.

@@jachyra4 I'm sorry, but how is healthcare not a right? That's an insane thing to say.
I can vouch that insurance companies deny a ridiculous amount of claims. I think at best people who don't condone the murder still dont have high empathy. Moderates like me do not think murder was the answer but are not exactly grieving
I have subscribed to 3 youtubers over the past 10 years and amir is one of them.
Love your videos and how you look at things👍 much love from sweden🇸🇪
God help up. There's a pay wall to even call to find in network doctors. I don't like this imagination game 😭💀
THAT'S WHAT I'VE BEEN SAYING! You can take down a guy, but you can't guarantee the replacement is gonna be any better 💀
Congratulations on the house!!! Proud of your growth! :)
Not enough US citizens hold doctors, hospitals, and for profit out patient clinics accountable.
Which is odd because when cops mess up everyone does which rightful so but we gotta keep the same energy
@@CaptainCJ97 I agree.
Exactly! Why are people glorifying the fact that he killed someone… weird.
we wouldn't be having this conversation on this scale if it hadn't happened
Who knows?
Then they'd just drag you through court cases until you had no money anyways
😖 my parents made it clear when I turned 18 I was on my own and never taught me about insurance or making my own appointments.
almost 500k, congrats on your new house :) keep up the good work sir
Meanwhile NYT is trying to gaslight us...
What I have not heard yet, is *_how did he know that the CEO would be in NYC that morning, at that location?_* Are there *others* that helped the murderer with the CEO's travel itinerary??? 🤔
Congrats on your new home 😊
🎉Congrats on your house and thank you for your channel and takes.
Congrats on the house! We don't have a "healthcare" system. We have a "sickcare" system that doesn't want to cure people. They want to keep people sick and dependent on pharma. Like you, I don't condone violence as an answer but I definitely had a "meh" reaction when it happened.
I was so looking forward to your take on this, Amir - thanks for sharing
Love your work Amir! Go boy go 👏❤
Finally, someone with sense and nuance and not hopping on the sanctimonious train. This isnt a left vs right issue.
Congrats on the new house, Amir!!!
I get that our healthcare system in America is flawed, but committing murder is not the right thing to do about it.
I was wondering about the background in your video. Congrats on the house!
In short he took the law into his own hands to bring justice in a lot of people minds when our Law enforcement and Politicians seems to be corrupt and turn a blind eye.
If only we could bring back the practice of tar and feathering 😏
Even with universal healthcare, there’s still a two-tier system. Wealthier people get better services through private options, like exclusive hospital wings or private hospitals. Universal care often has long waits and limited advanced treatments, so those with money go private. It’s unfortunate but true.
It's as simple as this: two wrongs don't make a right.
One wrong don't make a right either
Depends what you define as wrong. America exists only because of violence aka the revolution. Now that does not mean I think our revolution was wrong, but rather when there is great injustice done and the powers that be (the government, laws, etc) fail to protect the people then at some point the people are left to take matters into their own hands.
We can agree murder is wrong, but the sad reality is this death had to happen to finally get everyone to start talking about the failure our health care system. The bigger question that needs to be asked is what happens next?
Lol still feel no sympathy but I won't glorify murder
Is it really wrong to stop mass murder?
So osama bin laden shouldn't have been killed either, he should had been captured, given a fair trial, and then put on a jail where he would had learned to behave properly, right?
Yeah, I don't think so, this is just fake moralism that people preach but don't actually believe in.
Congrats on the new house! 🏠 ❤ it’s a huge accomplishment in this time and age🎉
Yall up here acting like you didn't see the first Incredibles movie when Mr Incredible worked for that insurance company. HE TRIED TO TELL YALL INSURANCE COMPANIES AINT SHIT!!!
Congratulations on the new house! 🎉🎉🎉
As for your ad read: the right knows about those 'reporters'
People's health should be a govermental issue, not a business - there needs to be a reform, not a m**er
I agree 100%. Our goveenment is why healthcare is privitzed to begin with
Thank you for another video, I appreciate the work you put into them and the way you deliver the information. Also, congratulations on your home 😁 I'm very happy for you.
First off, congratulations on you new home Amir! 🎉
Secondly, I agree with you 100%.
THANK YOU FOR BEING SO AUTENTIC LIKE OMG FINALLY WE NEED MORE PEOPLE THAT FOR REAL LIKE YOU
When a Dr. Orders a test they get no money then why is that request from a DOCTOR deny????????? One can not get blood work, prescriptions without a Dr. Written request? Answer to that they have a license. There are many drugs also deny even when the criteria its clear.🤯🤯??????????
congrats on the new house!! proud of you!
So true
Remember, looksmaxxing is the most important factor
Congrats on the house! How exciting!
@@barrelofadventure3734Im sure there's many solutions to have it go faster. I feel like this criticism for not having universal healthcare is flawed.
@@user-cf6fo6bj1uIt maybe flawed but it’s valid. Waiting time in universal healthcare countries is horrible. What we need is both a public and private healthcare system and Independent private practices. And stop subsidies for insurance companies.

Congratulations on your house ❤ and thank you for educating me 🫶🏼🫶🏼
us being he sickest country is also corporate greed
You are brilliant. Just the information that is truthful is what is needed in America. Honest conversation and deeper thought.
You should maybe talk about how out of all the days he has security, his security team was not there.
Right…….still feels funny.
amir the GOAT. thx for vid and congrats on the new house
Thank you for making this I need the real info!
