NEW RECORD for my budget 1.6L Turbo Miata | 0-60 Acceleration
Вставка
- Опубліковано 3 жов 2024
- Today I attempt to break my own 0-60 record that I set last year with my Turbo Mazda Miata. This car now has a 3.9 Torsen rear end, and a slightly improved tune. Let's see what it can do!

For turbo, 4.77, but otherwise 4.1
@@michaelk9193 I have a 4.7 in my stock 1.6 car, why would ever use it in a turbo car?
@@michaelk9193 4.77 would be hell for street driving a turbo MX5
Its so great to see this thing ripping again! Keep it up!
I’m real excited to have it back out! Thanks!
Have you tried setting launch control to be practical enough for actually launching?
I haven't yet, that'll be next on the list!
6.3 is very nice. Do you have a decompression plate on that engine at 14 psi ? Or is it stock compression ratio ?
wouldn't running 2 step help you a lot with 0-60 runs as such? In theory, it should greatly reduce the lack of boost from launch as well as allow for more consistent launches
Yeah proper launch control would help a lot, that'll be next on the list!
@@CashedOutCars only a suggestion, I love your videos, really helps me gain a good amount of knowledge on the miata platform before I buy one
It’s a good suggestion! Just need to decide if I want to be tempted to use it all the time😂thanks for your support man!
Nice pulls mate...about to S/C my 91 looking forward to that, i wonder if a well tuned S/C might have the advantage in 0-60's what do you think?...love your channel ,awesome video, cheers from New Zealand....peace
Did you happen to have it installed and tested already? Curious to see/hear how it is! :)
@@MrClassicT yeah all done, I made a UA-cam video series on the install if you want to check it out...go to Danzcars cheers...
@@danielthomas8507 I'll have a look, thanks a lot :)
1:13 whos 944 porsche was that? have been looking for them and that looks like one of them. basically german porches
Good shift, were fuel loads the same? A full tank of gas could be 40kg
That’s a great point. I was at nearly a full tank for this test, and 1/8 tank or so on the last. Considering that, it’s about 3.5% heavier now, so perhaps I could have run closer to a 6.11 with no other changes
good remark !
3.9 crew checking in
How do you like yours?
There is plenty more time in that car. Try slipping that clutch a bit off the line rather than just dumping it it. I’m fairly certain with a proper launch you could break into the 5.9 range.
OK really easy To lose a second off that... Find some Sticky tires that are worn out for free from Les Schwab or discount tire .... Burn them off to where their almost slicks....set the psi to say 10.... Then Review it up to about 4 grand get your Turbo spinning wait a second after you've already done a burn out And drop it at about 3 grand full throttle Turbo spinning you could shoot you should be able to drop a sec
Flat shift and launch control would be an interesting addition. Still running speeduino?
It’d help a lot, I will do at least launch control it in the future! Yes I am
Something that people do in South Africa to avoid the engine bogging down is to pull the handbrake up, throttle, let the clutch out a little to load the drivetrain, then release the handbrake. That way your engine is already loaded and you've given your turbo time to spool by the time you launch. Of course you will burn your clutch and you risk breaking things. Poor man's launch control.
Also take 2 45 pounds bench weights And put them in your trunk behind your rear tires and watch it launch like crazy
well i see that vide, i see 5.25 lenght... i was om turbo miata 0to60 in 6min ye not bad...
If you've got adjustable coil overs in the back set him a little bit looser
Try to be a little smoother with the clutch. So you get a little slip to stop the bogging down and wheel spin. You will probably shave more time off.
I got a 3.9 out of a 08 535 trying hard
I got a question for you. I thought I saw your buddy before his Honda engine swap, put on a shunk type throttle body and did not put on the piece that the water runs through for worm up. I was wondering if it performed well or not after as I see a lot saying it's not a good idea, but I was wanting to do the same. Thanks and keep up the good work, as I enjoy watching!!!
Wow I’d like a 3.9 for my drift miata I want a long 2nd gear!
They definitely have their place. 0-60 records isnt it hahah! but it is great cruising on the high way and fun when you don’t look at the times!
@@CashedOutCars where did you get the diff for the 3.9? I’ve been needing some better gearing for my daily driven Miata
I got it from a subscriber and we traded, but browse marketplace and Craigslist for deals. If you need one sooner rather than later, there’s a few parts resellers that will stock them (SNS Miata parts, treasure Coast Miata etc)
PERHAPS FLAT SHIFTING WILL HELP???
Ethanol? Those AFR numbers are pretty rich for petrol gas.
93, I'd rather run it a bit rich and know it's safe than risk blowing the motor
some modern turbos have electric motor supplement boost at low RPM
That'd be sweet to use, that's some trickle down F1 tech right there!
how much power are you pushing to the wheels?
I haven't dyno tuned it, but somewhere around 180 whp seems like a reasonable estimate
Whats needed to go sub 6s?
I have a similar setup
I think with a 4.3 rear it actually would have been there. It’s about a 10% “loss” having the 3.9 vs the 4.3. Plus with launch control and fresher tires I think it’d be mid 5s
But how much faster would it be with heavy steelies??
Probably about 6.32 seconds faster
aren’t you only running like 190hp?
I'd say 190 WHP is a pretty fair estimate, it's running 14 PSI on a fairly conservative tune
What tires?
These are old Dunlop Direzzas II, they’re 200 TW but are also much older now
I need to replace the diff in my miata. Where can I get a good LSD?
I’d recommend looking on marketplace or Craigslist if you want a decent deal, if getting one quick is more important there’s some Miata parts sellers like Treasure Coast Miata and SNS Miata parts that stock them
@@CashedOutCars thanks man!
6 seconds in a tuned car :/ thank God for how cheap fast bikes are
Hahah yeah totally different animals.. with launch control and if I went with a 4.3 LSD instead of the 3.9 I think mid 5s would be achievable. stock these do about 9 based on my testing, there's certainly cheaper ways to go fast!
@@CashedOutCars Thanks for the reply :) good luck in future tuning, the car looks awesome
Urethane mounts, break into the 5's.
Certainly, I’m undecided if I want the extra noise as vibration though
Have you looked at an E85 tune?
If E85 had availability where I am I would, but unfortunately it’s not a viable option
Love your channel keep it up!
I appreciate that, it means a lot!
Nice time
