i've just been watching episodes from the 600's with Kath and Rita. Then i randomly selected this episode. When you watch episodes from this era and compare it to the 600's the show feels a lot different.
@@ajs41 This episode/era is better, its really hard to deny that. It's darker, more focused, the freak is scarier and the stories, characters and acting are more on point. The 600's are good but less consistent and have some very silly moments, the Freak isn't very scary by that point in the series. But the 600's are more fun to watch and have more humour (intentional or otherwise hehe) i kind of have more of a soft spot for that era over this even though this is technically better.
I've just watched the first 300 episodes in 3 months, and actually I quite liked the first 150 episodes that were filmed in the late 1970s. They have a certain charm that had disappeared by 1982 which is where I am now. Don't know what you think about the early episodes...
So Doreen’s house is finally addressed. She still has money left over from the sale - what on earth did she do with it? Looks like a huge mistake selling the only thing standing between her and the streets. What a waste.
Joan hit the nail on the head when she said hopefully we'll never see Doreen again, you're not alone there Ferguson. And what happened to all those nice clothes Doreen's mum gave her, she looks bloody awful.
Barbara Fields, great character to come later on... Prisoner is reaching it's ulimate climax stage from here on in over the next 30 episodes. Bea was credited twice at end credits...
Am I imagining things or was Alice "Lurch" walking behind Bea & Doreen when they were walking through the corridor at 8:52 talking about Maxine & The Freak?
All these years later I still say Ferguson ruined this series, it became the Ferguson show. I dislike the show with her in it even more today than I did back in the day. It stopped being about the Prisoners and more about what evil shit Ferguson could do to them, boring boring boring.
You know I’m at this episode and just think The Freak came in to abruptly almost to much to soon… I don’t mind her up to yet but after another 10 episodes to much…
Clearly Maggie Kirkpatrick must have been earning too much to quit by herself, but Grundy’s let Ferguson drag on far too long. By 1984 Ferguson had peaked and she should have been axed by writing the ‘lagging nun’ Anita Selby storyline differently
A character with several good stories and great acting skills, but I totally agree. The reason why other baddies like Jock Stewart and Kate Peterson worked so well, was that they left the show before their story arch became too un realistic to believe. But Ferguson just got away with her behavior a bit too long to be a realistic character. Her closing story arch was brilliantly written, though.
As time goes on with these episodes, it gets closer to Val leaving. Another 100 and she will be gone :( Was never the same without her and of course Fiona too
Senior officer Ferguson OMG. They keep mentioning Vera .Iwish they would bring her back for a visit . I would love to see her as the governor at barnhurst. That's the actress who plays the 'extra' (the prison guard named Mrs. Barfield) who's featured opening & shutting the gates during the final credits. I think this particular ending of PCBH began at the end of the previous episode.
