I enjoy Acts so so much. I’ve learned and am growing stronger in my faith and reality of God’s love, guidance, protection and so so much more ! Praise Jesus Christ our Saviour God our Father and the Holy Spirit for everything ❤

Pastor David guzik used the term “lowkey” in 2011 - truly ahead of his time

This was very encouraging because I tend to hesitate to share the gospel because I won’t know what to say really in my heart I know but when it s time speak I m overwhelmed what if they ask me something or say something I don’t know how to respond but this was great example and encouraging it s like if I can hear the Holy Spirit say go with what I ve given you my grace is sufficient my child

I love his teaching. I use his commentaries and study guides. I agree with Shelley’s question 🙋‍♀️.

Is speaking in tongues a result of being blessed with holy spirit

Regarding the controversy about whether or not we receive all of the Holy Spirit the moment we believe in Jesus and are born again, would you agree that it’s one of those both-and realities which we encounter so much in God and our relationship with Him (such as: God is both three persons and one God; Jesus is both fully God and fully man; we are both clothed in Jesus’ righteousness as our own and being conformed to His likeness over time; the Kingdom is both fully at hand and yet coming in fullness; etc.)? I’m thinking of how in marriage a bride fully receives her husband in terms of covenant, but if she doesn’t put an effort into continuing to get to know him, she is blocking her full experience of him as the person he is. Would you agree that since the Holy Spirit is a Person, we cannot receive only part of Him? And that what many refer to as “not being filled with the Holy Spirit” may be like that bride who has received all of her husband in marriage but is blocking her own full experience of him in the relationship?

Great question and perspective. Perhaps we can think of it this way: instead of talking about receiving only part of the Holy Spirit, perhaps we can say that we can go deeper with the Holy Spirit. I do agree with your phrase "both-and", and the book of Acts seems to support that view.
As in marriage, a bride can be joined to her husband and be one flesh, but be missing out on the fullness of who he is because she neglects to press in to a deeper relationship. I think that your perspective is good. Good analogy!

Some good thoughts here on these difficult passages. My one correction would be concerning this statement: "they spake with tongues, and prophesied." That doesn't mean they spoke unintelligibly then prophesied as if they were two separate concepts. What it means there is that they prophesied in different languages to someone who understood those languages then acted upon that prophecy. And yes the Scriptures do reveal what that prophecy was and how it was acted upon.

David I notice you read the verses 18, 19, and 26 of chapter 18 as, ‘ Aquila and Pricilla’ when the text clearly reads, ‘Pricilla and Aquila’. Is there a reason you choose to do this?

Slip of the tongue. They are presented both ways in the New Testament. :-)

I agree, most of the time Pricilla comes before Aquila

David I notice that you consistently use the phrase, ‘Aquila and Pricilla’, when the text clearly uses ‘Pricilla and Aquila’. .. do you have a reason for this misquote?

The New Testament presents that godly couple in two ways: Pricilla and Aquila, and then, Aquila and Pricilla. So that godly couple is addressed both ways inn the New Testament. Hope this helps! Blessings!
