We recommend simply using a garden hose. If by "softwash" you mean using a pressure washer at a distance and basically using it to rinse, you are correct, this is acceptable. Unfortunately, we have encountered many people who don't have much experience with a pressure washer and tend to use too high of pressure and get too close forcing water into cracks and checks, or removing finish completely. In my opinion, typical hose pressure is sufficient for this.

We softwash log homes all the time without issues, media blasting is great if your going to restain, but overkill for maintenance cleaning.....
