It's the type of plastic, it gets brittle over time

If you are looking to switch to the Paperpot company trays in the future here is how you can calculate seed density.
Inside dimensions of a 1020 seem to be about 19.625” x 9.25” = 181.53125 sq inches. Divide this by the weight of the seeds per 1020 flat, 150g for Sunflower*. For a seed density of 1.21 grams per sq inch.
Paperpot trays are 23.125″ x 11” = 254.375 sq inches. Multiply this by the seed density above (1.21) and you will need 307.9 grams of seed per flat.
*Seed wight pulled off of reddit. I don't know what it should really be.
As far as the holes they should be useful to prevent over watering. You could pair it with the Botanicare GT24X44X7B Tray. Place the flats inside the tray then water the tray. You can see a video of it here: ua-cam.com/video/qlmgO3O55L4/v-deo.html.
Alternatively you could set up a sump pump to handle it. Seen here: ua-cam.com/video/k-hQ9mb6G8A/v-deo.html .

No problem. I'm still in the research and business plan stage, so I just hope it goes as well as you two seem to be doing.

@@BackyardSprouts What have you guys decided on after your experiences with the tray? :)

Embracing Juju we ended up sticking with the normal 10x20 trays. We have had no issues with them for our situation other than normal wear and tear!

Since these paperpot trays are 24% more space just multiply what you would use on a 10x20 and get your density for these trays

Ye, it seems to be difficult to find corresponding undertrays. It's a damn shame. Bottom line: all the other trays come from the same factory
