One of the greatest Sun Ra albums, and scarcely imaginable that almost none of the compositions here were ever played anywhere else again (the big exception being a minute of so of Space is the Place). El Sunny Ra kept steaming ahead, just creating more and more for the people in the coming centuries to gradually come to love and understand....

Just when I am yet again convinced that Ra was a genius, there comes along something like this to blow me out of the water in greater amazement.

I like how Sun Ra's music shoos away people who have not been experienced. He speaks to your spirit and for some people that is an unsettling experience. His music is not always nice or pleasant or cool but that is how life is and so his music is a more accurate portrayal of our spirits procession through life.

You have to listen to a buch of Sun Ra before you get the full range of his abilities. Jazz, new orleans, Do Wop, Disco, avant guard, swing... its all part of his Omniverse.

Absolutely correct, brother. Also, included in that range is the great master of collective improvisation, Fletcher Henderson.

good album with sun ra and his Arkestra, has that funk jazz thing going on. always loved this bands free flowing jazz style. with 100 albums to their name and over 1000 songs, what a legacy they have.

we are just now starting to figure out what these cats were up to all those years ago.Sun Ra,Albert Ayler,Don Cherry all light years beyond the days in which they worked and lived and created their best stuff.

My dad uttered pretty much this same sentiment 20+ yrs ago about this cat and had me convinced that Sun ra was the 1st Original Mothership 'aka Maggot Brain.! Not that me and my old man agreed on a lot of things but after listening to an array of Sun ra's music, I had no rebuttal to my old man's assessment .

Normally I don't share raw unedited work or lyrics especially on a site like this. The words were inspired while listening to this album.
Written while listening to Sun Ra’s disco 3000
    2/19/15 2:11 a.m.
    Tapping into new gateways
Sun Ra’s magical fingers playing the keys
    Opening the Gates of Heaven
    Cosmic sounds, vibrations, frequencies
breathing new forms of being into existence
Space is the place is what the Grand Architect said
    Cosmic Godfather
take a funky ride wit’ me
flowing reactive energy eternally burning me free
energy manifested physically is spirit first before it manifests
    so everything is spirit energy
extended life forms of the Masterpiece
    get a piece
    you are the piece
together we unify in mastery, purity
Sanctified in the Eye of Truth
    Ase Amen Ra Ma'at Tehuti
    deified matter
    Matters
Melanin is the creative force that activates eternity
The truth(reality) of it all and nothing at all shall set us free
    Emancipation of Soul
    Omnipresent flow
    Mystical, Spiritual, Celestial
    Galactic Black Hole
everything is you everything is me
If we didn’t exist what would we be
everything you need to know you came (to Earth) equipped with
Activate it through knowledge of S.E.L.F.
    Spirit Elevating Life Forever
    Tell your story
    Tell your truth
Speak from your relation to the ALL
    share in your experiences
preserve your blood, your life, your lineage
Revere your Ancestors, Know your Ancestors
    Pay homage to your Ancestors
by continuing the truth of their legacy
    which is yours
