  • Ali O'Grady, the founder of Thoughtful Human, is taking on the elephant in the room - from disease, to mental health, and all of the uncomfortable conversations you're avoiding in your family and relationships. Through her intimate and heartbreaking experiences, she invites us to abandon our doubt and discomfort and start asking the hard questions. Ali O’Grady is a mushroom marketer turned zero waste cardpreneur. Ali founded quirky card start-up Thoughtful Human in October 2017, which works to take the “greetings” out and put the human back into cards and how we communicate - specifically in dynamic relationships and challenging life circumstances (think cancer, grief, addiction…). Thoughtful Human emphasizes radical empathy and works to build community, educate, and de-stigmatize conversations about physical and mental health. Thoughtful Human products are now available in Whole Foods Market throughout the Bay Area, Target.com, Paperchase UK, and coming to US retail stores nationwide in Spring 2019. O’Grady and Thoughtful Human have been recognized by Diablo magazine’s 40 Under 40, Bustle, Brit & Co, The Mighty, Thrive Global, and Mental Floss. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at www.ted.com/tedx

I like how she acknowledges how tough it is even when you know you should and want to do it...

We need to be having more discussions about hard topics. Study after study shows our generation is having record high anxiety and depression, and even with the opioid epidemic mental health is not given nearly the attention it deserves

Besides the fact she is absolutely Beautiful. This talk has some very valid points and helped me search for more courage to ask the tough questions. It also helped me to recognize the simple things I can do each day to comfort and let others know that I am here to support them. If nobody asks then nobody knows.....

Extraordinary Great Speech, However, as someone who has suffered all their life with Major Depression, talking does not make any difference at all!
