    Four years have passed since I produced the original "100 Years of Montana Farming" and now I've finally made a successor! "Welker Farms 2016" is a captivating look into our farming season. I've put off making a video of this size for some time as it is very difficult to film and farm. I tried my best to keep the video under 10 minutes but with so much footage I just couldn't. I hope you enjoy and feel free to comment and share! Like my page at Facebook.com/welkerfarmsinc
    CyberLink's PowerDirector 15 worked miracles! It's come a long way since my first experience with PowerDirector 9. Extremely stable and user friendly. Nothing is more frustrating than fighting editing software and I can honestly say it was a pleasure using PowerDirector 15.

    its crazy how much the welker harvest equipment has changed. it was small little case combines and trucks in the feild, and now its 3 big combines and a huge grain cart pulled by a quadtrac.

    • @clintonjc
      @clintonjc 3 роки тому

      Walkers own the two 8230’s. The 8250, quadtracs, and graincarts have been demo units. The demos are a great way of showcasing the products Case and Brent make and working with the welkers gets the company a good PR and good content for viewers.

    Great video....I really miss my childhood years when my dad was living and was working for a local rice farmer. I couldn’t wait for harvest season. I was always on the combine with him. He operated a case IH 1460 harvester. My first word as a baby was “combine”!! I’m 44 years old and I still have a strange passion for combines. I pray that the Welkers have a long and successful farming life! May God bless your whole family!!!

    I'm from the Netherlands. We have much smaller equipment. If a farmer has one of those combines he would be considered to have a huge farm. But over there in the US of A you guys are hauling trailers after a truck running 2 or 3 combines having tractors worth the price of a small farm. But I have to say that for the land you own. Your handling it very well and the machines look always nice and clean its somewhat getting rare that a farm this size is looking so good after their equipment.

    Guys Just an update besides your repairs and maintaining the various trucks, tractors, etc to keep pace with your farming activities this 2016 Harvest video is so satisfying for me as it is what my dad and grand father introduced me to in the Fifties to farming and harvesting in the Panhandles of Oklahoma, Texas and Kansas. As a preteen I drove semis into the field to off load grain from the combines. hauled to elevators and when spare storage bins where full we also off loaded on the ground via augers. Blessings to your families for sharing great farming to other folks.

      Thanks for watching again tarfoot! The shot with the train was such a great moment. That is our only field next to the tracks and I was hoping a train would come by...I sat up on a hill top with a radio and watched and when I saw the train coming I told the combines to start cutting next to the tracks. I then flew the drone over hovering next to the tracks and waited a few minutes. To my surprise it was a grain train too! That was the only train to come by the whole time we were there.

    the size of your fields.. And that machinery.. My brain cant handle this. You are living the dream. I hope your family farm lasts another hundred years:)

    • @WelkerFarms
      @WelkerFarms  7 років тому

      That is very kind of you! Its a great life and at times we have to be reminded of what we have by going places where we can't have the same freedom we have on the farm. I would love this farm to continue another 100 years! Given if the government will stay out of the way!

    • @WelkerFarms
      @WelkerFarms  7 років тому

      Its a double edge sword. They set up programs and agencies to help out farmers in disastrous situations which of course farmers love. But then they regulate just about everything and combined with the EPA, FDA, and IRS it makes growth difficult. Then to top it off...after many many many years paying taxes on income and property tax, they demand a death tax if your farm is worth over a specified amount...thus ending the family farm as not many have enough cash to pay that final tax. And to go back to subsidies...rule of thumb is, whenever the government comes in and hands out money all expenses related to that type of industry rise. This in the end eats up whatever the handout was in the first place. So yes I do appreciate times when the government helps out with competitive insurance and disaster relief...they do more damage than good. Farms are going out of business because when the government got the bright idea to mandate food to be used as fuel "ethanol", corn prices went sky high which made farmers a lot of money. Now that farmers were making a lot of money, land prices went sky high, equipment prices went sky high. Commodities such as wheat and soy also went sky high causing their land to go up in price. But with the Fed pumping fake money into our economy our dollar is artificially inflated which in turn makes it very difficult to market commodities to other countries. Granted we cannot control the weather and the world has seen record productions the past few years, much of the blame rests on the governments shoulders.

    • @WelkerFarms
      @WelkerFarms  7 років тому +1

      So now farmers are in a slump as we are being payed hardly anything for our product while the cost of farming remains high.

    Love you guys and love your equipment! From my perch in Massachusetts, you've made me a "want-ta-be" farmer! Your farm is so big and flat that you can see the curvature of the earth when videoed from a drone. It appears that you guys are on top of the earth! Your videos are so down to earth and real that it's never boring to wait or see what comes up next .... I think that's the beauty of being a farmer! I am amazed at Legarms .... he is a mechanical genius! When things stop working, legarms is there to fix it! It's amazing how he tackles a project that most individuals would walk away from and turns the project into an amazing success! Love you guys!

      +Stainless Nick it is an exciting time of the year, and very stressful when things don't go right haha. Farmers will always need help for harvests so your day is coming!

    I wish I could work on a farm like this. I actually do stay on a wine farm in South Africa and I have worked here for about a year and it was great fun but now I'm busy with my degree in Agriculture. Cant wait to finish and start working.
