Your land is yours to do as YOU please! You are learning what works for you and your family. We are just along for the ride…. Well watch party voyerism type of thing but dont mind us…. If we didnt like what you are doing we would stop watching but your viewers keep increasing so keep doing what you do! We love the Hollars!
I love how you waited for little miss to say "bye" before closing the vlog ❤!
My favorite part of your videos is when buggy tells me "bye". It makes me feel like heaven ❤
Congratulations on your added family members! Bee's and sheep
Worker 🐝 🐝 🐝 and freezer camp 🐑 🐏 🐑, no less!!?!!
You can always use the wool for megs knitting
Sheep s--t is the BEST for your garden BTW 😊❤❤❤❤❤
Good to have another meat source :) it’s big decision!
Buggy is the sweetest baby and very intelligent 😍
Bless this family. ❤
Very cool!
Congrats on the sheep y'all.
Rebecca and Lily worked with their sheep for months & they follow Lily anywhere. Very tame.
Aww the cow looking bk taking meg in, like yeah you are my fave human 😊
How’s the herb garden coming along?
"Oh! We have a laugh track over there!" 🤣 Also, the boys getting their licenses will be terrifying and liberating all at once!
That is our weather too in the desert, but we have one week of spring and the rest very hot summer.
I hear that sheep pellets are a lot like rabbit pellets in the garden. Put the sheep in the area in the front with vines all over it. They will eat them.
i enjoy raising my chickens so much. when i go in their pen to give them food and water, they try to run out the door while i am trying to go in. they completely rush me at the door. also another funny thing is that i have one rooster who says happy new year when he crows and another one that sounds like the harmonica at the begging of the supertramp song... long way home. 😜 they are so funny.
Justin Rhodes explains how adding sheep to the cow rotation actually works because the sheep's digestive systems destory the cow's parasites (thus disrupting the cyble) and vice versa. He did an Incredibly in-depth teaching on this about a year ago I believe. It was the episode where he was saying they were going to expand into large-scale/commercial farming. He showed the entire massive property for the first time. He was visiting with someone very knowledgable also, ans I wish I remember who it was/ what episode it was. It was definitely not a normal episode. it was a teaching experience.
Your compost looks great, am sure it saves a lot of money.
We lived on culled mutton for a while. We'd cut the forequarter and leg into two roasts. And we would cut racks of lamb. The rest would go to soup or dog food. Love an authentic shepherd's pie made from ground roast lamb/mutton. Also love leftover roast sheep in toasted sandwiches. We didn't have any of your fancy butchering set up but we were effecient.
How nice to add sheep………hopefully you can get some wool for good winter boot socks as well…….rabbits make great meat, high in protein and low in cholesterol if you are looking for another variety of meat
Hey Hollers, these Sheep arent to big ,they might not be too Muttony🌞.
That was a smooth transfer👍.
JO JO IN VT 💞
Piggy timelaps please!! And sheep are really easy to grow and they do eat everything (my father has sheep). They are a lawn mower and the best adler deterrent. Hope decide to keep them 😁.
All those morning sounds! Glorious☀️ Especially the Moooo 😂
Mutin is the best tasting meat. Only goat is nicer in my mind.. goats mite work for you as they like most things other animals don't!.. the joys of a homestead. Much love and respect to you all.
🇦🇺Do any of your neighbours have land you could lease/ barter or buy? Land for a steer and/or a lamb for payment.
Possibly what happened to our sheep. We had it running the pasture with goats. Some of our goats died and we had a sheep thst got down and couldnt get up. Sh3 acted like someone with inner ear issues. She would stagger around and fall. We coukd help her back up to stand and she would stand for awhile but just fall over. It was weird. She never could get better. Im wondering if they had a parasite.
Sounds like what my goat had last summer…goat polio
@@suddenlycaprice never heard of that
I thought she had trouble with her ears. Then found her unable to stand. Eventually due to the pressure in her brain she went blind. Got her to a vet and with a lot of medication and prayer we saved her and she doesn’t seem to have any permanent brain damage. The vet was doubtful that we caught it in time but she’s quite healthy now. Only little quirk she has is that she bites (not hard). 😆 Probably still angry because of the multiple shots a day!
@@suddenlycaprice haha, well a little bite won't hurt too bad lol
A couple of our sheep had that issue. I'm leaning towards a selenium deficiency coupled with an over eager ram. Ours got better over time but I sent them to the sale barn in case genetics played a role. We had sheep from 3 different sources and only the sheep from one of the sources had issues.
Blondie is ADORABLE 😃. ❤ y’all, Kristy in Missouri 😃🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
Yay, free yarn
Never mind, maybe next time.
Enjoyed the video
Growing yarn ❤
Woooooo Muton recipes coming
I have to agree if you don’t have room then don’t do it
❤❤
Cow juice. Yumm!🤙🤙🤙
Buggie When sheep are tired do they count people ??
You're going to love lamb! It's so much better than beef.
Tell me which of those kids is not gonna look back 20 and 30 years from now, growing up in that home, remembering mom’s cooking!
Amen Michelle Ann🙏!
Store bought Lamb is mighty tasty. Spare the sheep. They ae to cute for the freezer.
Did you shave them before processing them? Or is it wrong time of year for that? If that’s even a weather thing?
You have growing teenage boys they never get full…lol Buggy is just to cute…lol
She kills me😂
Once Biscuit goes to freezer camp, it would free up a lot of grass. Just sayin'
What breed of sheep are they?
Dont see a contact email on the video.
Sheep?
They do taste good.
Go many sheep.
Just an FYI: cows and heifers are female, bulls and steers are male. One of the sheep looks preggo. Is that an optical illusion or could she be?
No not the sheep I love sheep 14:56
I said it before if you need a bigger farm
I wonder why you and others dont bag your lawn clippings and feed the animals and also even the chickens?
Bye Buggie
LOL OK don't hate me but is Meg going to take the wool and make her own yarn out of it off the sheep. Sorry I had to say it love you guys enjoy the lamb.✌✌💖💪🎅🚌🌻
They are hair sheep, not wool sheep. Otherwise I totally would haha
When are you going to butcher Biscuit
What a great bunch of kids always helping out and Buggie is so adorable. You have a lovely life. Teach your children well.
Your family is ROCKING homesteading 💫. 👵🏻👩🌾❣️
I envy y'all. At 61 time is not on my side to take on such big projects. Between the garden , chickens , raising & selling Guinea fowl I'm a whipped pup at the end of my day. Kudos on the sheep ! Between them & the bees & new herb garden , WHAT could possibly be next????? Y'all are amazing !
Thank you little Buggy for telling us about the Sheep. Meg doing her art work. Bye Buggy😂.🎈
Freezer camp....very popular place for most critters. Excellent plan on the sheep! Purchasing from a friend who is selling with a place to put the sheep until they're processed. This truly gives you the opportunity to know all about your food.
Life is good!
Sounds like good reasoning to me. My son only has a cow and sheep. He processes several sheep as needed.
I have 14 grandchildren all with hollow legs. I love this stage of life.
Had to look up, sounded like a painful malformation
Not a malformation, but can be painful to the wallet.
That little Buggy is precious. I love the messy curls and her happy personality. She's a bright spot in all of your days, I'm sure. Hangry happens to all of us, I don't care who you are, haha so if that's the worst of it by which giving her an apple to munch on fixes things between meals, then life is pretty great!
The sheep will be an interesting animal to have for the next few days. If you can/do give it a week, you'll get a good picture of what they'd be like, and need, if you were to consider them. Like you say, it's not like you have to raise 20+ of them. Two or three would serve your family well. I've never had sheep before. I did try lamb once and didn't care for it, but am willing to admit that it could very well have been the recipe and not the meat per say. I actually don't recall what the texture, etc. was like though I'd imagine it would be similar to pork.
Great job getting all you do done in a day... all of you! Sharing this snippet of your day/life with us is a true pleasure to watch, so thank you.
Take care, one and all!
Heather
I love that Little buggy "BYE".
CONGRATULATIONS on your new sheep. ❤
We put our 3 sheep in our wooded pasture, along with a couple other animals, for 30 days & they did an amazing job clearing all the brush & lower branches. Makes it very easy to go through after them & clear out the overgrowth & downed trees. They absolutely love ferns if you have them in your wooded section. They are great for escaping through hot wire but ours never went anywhere.
Yes, woven wire or "hot" netting to keep them in. They are no where near as bad as goats for escaping tho. And they are more of a grazer than goats. But they still do a good job clearing underbrush.
We raised a couple of sheep years ago. The meat was amazing! You will love having them around. They are calming and steady.
you feeding that muffin to the cow made my day, soon as she got a smell of that bad boy she was all in.
So sweet...that little girl is warming those "manly" hearts...she make them smile like never before...lucky boys..lucky Daddy and a companion for Mom...she will learn your gentle ways and you will teach her things that will stay with her for life.
Your comment just won the internet!🏆
@@jesusislord2457 YES!!! 💌❤
From experience, I can tell you that it's way easier and cheaper, in the long run, to let someone else raise your meat (except for chickens and rabbits) than it is for a small homestead to do. If you were going to raise to sell to others (the way you bought your sheep today - on the hoof) then it may be more attractive money-wise but if you weigh that with the amount of extra work, it's probably not worth it unless you are absolutely positively sure of your market. Personally, I think you've made a really good decision.
It seems like the sheep are a good look on the farm but I totally understand the limited grass to graze. 👍
The chicken and pasta with sauce looks really good I will have to try that. 💙
I had this neighbor Harold who came over almost everyday with a beer in one hand and a cowboy killer in the other and follow me around chatting while I did whatever.
Your videos make me feel like Harold, I am just a neighbor tagging along for chores or what have you and that makes for a fine day.
Good luck Tyler & Jack on your rite of passage.
Drivers Licenses are an awesome privilege and responsibility.
Protect them from tickets to save your job options open and wallets fuller. 👍
That truck color was a good choice from Dad. It looks sharp.
What's a cowboy killer?
@@peggywieting2073 A Marlboro cigarette.
@@jeanineadele Now that buggy gets the last word how can we not smile? My kids were lookers, but that Hollar baby, I swear she is the cutest thing ever. Don't tell my granddaughters. 🤫
@@jeanineadele You nailed that, she does have that Shirley Temple vibe. Time to pull out my VCR and have a Shirley Temple sleepover with the granddaughters.
Greetings from Costa Rica. You are such a hard working family. We admire you very much and you will do very well in any proyecto you start. Many blessings.
Lunch AND dinner looked great! Sheep could be fun. I'm excited to see what you all decide to do! ♥
They got sheep, oh my gosh! LOL. Couldn't resist 😊
Heading towards midnight here - but I am so glad I got to see this now. Your posts are always a joy.
Yeah,😊 Hollars posted.
I love it when the kids wave. I always wave back. I also say Bye when they say it too. Buggy sure knows how to work that camera with her smile! The boys love her and make sure she is ok! They are going to have her back when she gets older for sure! 🤪
your daughter seems to be a happy child. Very sweet too.
love ❤ the "Buggie Byes".
Maybe you want to get feeder lambs every spring and fatten them during the good grass time to see how they fit into your lives. Fill the freezer without the hassle of maintaining breeders. Have a Wonderful Wednesday!!
Thanks for another great video! I can't remember how you are doing with getting your milk cow bred.
Fingers crossed, she is bred this time. We'll be doing a check in a few weeks.
How is Meg's garden coming along , can't wait to see it and get some ideas
Another great day on the Hollar Family Homestead! Blessings on your day Kiddos!🥰🌻🐛💕
Sweet. That was a very productive day. Drivers Ed?!? Already? Wow. How is your garden coming along, Meg? You are a busy woman. A Proverbs 31 kind of a woman.
The rule for cows is 1 acre per cow. Myself I don't like mutton, lamb chops etc. As for the bull is he going in the freezer?
Meg, dinner as usual looked good.
Blessings to the family. 😊🇺🇲
There is not a general rule of 1 acre per cow. It is based on where you live, condition of the grass, rainfall, etc, etc. If anybody would like to know the average for there area check with the county extension office.
Awe sheep 🐑 are sweet! Loved Buggy saying awe their soft. Thanks for new video!
Yay sheep 🐑 so exciting for us to see you get new animals new experiences and good meat in ya freezer 💕🌸🌼
I had sheep, just sold them all 💔 you do not have enough grass. I didn't sell my babies last 2 years and I ran out of grass lol 6 per acre if you have lush healthy field mix. 2 per acre if you have bad grass and barn them in winter.we had great breeding stock, very big katadins. My husband said he hates the meat after we invested....I absolutely loved them
I can't wait to see the lamb meals that Meg will cook. Sheep have such cute babies. 💖
You should build a livestock crate for hauling your animals! They are easy to build out of scrap wood!
You two are special.
Until I knew they were destined for freezer camp, I was worried you were getting rid of the cows, because! Yeah definitely not enough grazing land. Even if you had more grassland, you might still be better putting it in hay so you wouldn't have to buy that.
Little Buggie is cute as a button! And she talks non stop like a female!
What are your plans for Biscut?
Tacos, corned beef, steaks, and oxtail soup.
😂 love watching y’all!!
Your cow didn't like you letting her secret out . Lol She sure liked that muffin Meg. Buggy's gonna have some new friends for a couple of weeks.
I always forget that people from Cali actually like to eat sheep lol. They come to Louisiana and cook us lamb chops and we are like ew, can’t eat it. I think it’s the texture of the meat maybe because I even tried cooking lamb chops our way and still couldn’t eat it. Then we cook for them and they love it. Thanks for posting! It’s been a rotten couple of days and I needed it. Hugs all around 🤗🥰
Rotten days stink! Sending hugs from NJ from a fellow Hollar family fan!!!!
@@CityWideGardens Thanks and hugs you back!! I love hugs 🤗
Have you guys thought about purchasing more land close to your current property to expand?
Your boys are growing so fast.
I just recently taught my kids your method of "measuring with your heart" 🤣
Such a great way to explore the idea of a new animal and also score some great meat for the freezer 😊 good on ya!
Now I wait for Lillyanna’s ‘bye’ 👋🏻👋🏻👋🏻
Bye Buggy! You sweet little doll.
