  • My neighbour's satellite TV reception was being ruined by one of our trees. He wanted it topped but I'm planning to build a carport there anyway so I just chopped the whole thing down.

    I am from the pacific islands... Shindaiwa is a very popular brand here 👍 the name speaks for itself. From brushcutters, chainsaws, and blowers. A true performance product 💯🤙👍

    Ripper little chainsaw mate, good to see an explanation on the mix & how to operate it, hope that wood goes into future projects 🍻👍👍👍👍👍

      Cheers cobber. If the fireplace is a future project this wood is definitely going into it 😆 There's nothing good there mate - don't even know what kind of tree it is.

    I've heard that Shindaiwa are the best chainsaws in the world. I have an Echo, which apparently comes off the same production line as the Shindaiwa. I love my Echo, and it looks almost identical. Great video, mate.

    • @TakamiWoodshop
      @TakamiWoodshop  5 років тому +1

      Cheers mate. Yep - Echo took over Shindaiwa I think - or the other way around. Fantastic little saw that one. Has never let me down in many years of cutting hundreds of pallets up for firewood. (and the odd tree here and there)

    Enjoyed the video immensely Rob, nothing quite like a two-stroke at full noise eh :-). I have never heard of the Shindaiwa chainsaw before, maybe it is peculiar to NZ, but it looks to be a nice unit.
    I have to do a full service on a chainsaw this week, not sure what brand, but it is one of the common orange and white professional ones, either Husqvarna or Stihl I think - work it out when I see it, but the two stroke ones are all pretty similar - sometimes the service becomes a rebuild, which is why it is wise to follow your advice on mixing the fuel, although a bit more oil never hurt.
    Nice job on the tree too, you probably saved a bit of money too, the professionals around here charge about $500 (usually a Kiwi bloke) to $1000 (always an Aussie :-) )for that.

    • @TakamiWoodshop
      @TakamiWoodshop  5 років тому +1

      Cheers Bob. Around here the kiwi bloke is $1000 and the Samoan crew will do it for $500. Shindaiwa has taken over Echo now as well and they are essentially the same saw now. Owned by a Japanese parent company that runs the two brands. I don't know what markets they are in though. Can you do a service on me Ryobi cobber?

    • @whitedoggarage
      @whitedoggarage 5 років тому

      @@TakamiWoodshop Actually I think what we call Kiwis might be Samoans, but they speak with a Kiwi accent :-)) Send your Ryobi over and I'll see what I can do. I think I may have touched a Ryobi one years ago, it was beyond economical repair as I recall - some plastic bit had failed - lots of plastic from memory .

    That's a nice chainsaw. What are you going to make with the lumber?

    • @TakamiWoodshop
      @TakamiWoodshop  5 років тому

      The lumber is already 'seasoning' and will be ready to make glorious heat next winter in the wood burner 😁 . It wasn't much good and I don't have the right chain or anything to mill (rip down) green wood into planks.
      The chainsaw is a real beauty though - love that little guy.

    I never knew there was so much oil involved in cutting down trees!
    Of course the burning question is, what will you be making with the timber?

    • @TakamiWoodshop
      @TakamiWoodshop  5 років тому

      Hey Pete, within the burning question lies the answer - I will be letting the wood season for a year and then I will be making heat with it.

      Lemon tree mate, followed by a feijoa tree - building a carport there one of these years but will be sad day saying goodbye to the feijoa - love those bloody things - dunno if you have them there?

      Wow, they look huge mate!
      Yeah they grow here, but we call them Guava trees.
      Actually, we have a couple of Pineapple Guava trees that the missus planted. 👍
      Maybe you should plant some more now before you cut it down?
      Besides that, they need to cross pollinate. 👌

    • @TakamiWoodshop
      @TakamiWoodshop  5 років тому +1

      Pineapple Guava - yep that's the one. I might be able to get away with keeping it if I plan right but it will be tricky space wise. Don't have any more places to plant really though - they get pretty big.

    Thought the neighbors satilite was a goner there for a mo 😂 nice saw much better than my chinesium one that wont start. Gonna save up for a makita eletric one I dont have much use for a petrol one. Also you have orange trees! Thought nz climate was much like Ireland's or is that just the south island?

      Yeah man that cable to pull it our side didn't work so well - my boy wasn't pulling on it hard enough. The Makita batty saw looks awesome! Will serve you well. The tree there is actually a lemon tree - it fruits really well and the neighbour requested that I keep that one cos he gets a few over his side as well. Behind it is the wonderful feijoa tree. Don't know if you know what that is but .. nom nom nom.

      Btw, I see you are planning on building a car port and not a van port. That is the right way to go! I am personally not a fan on my chainsaw because it is old and always a pain to start. I am sure if I had something newer that worked as well as yours that I would want to use it all the time!
