I kinda hope we get a flashback on how the healing off that wound goes, like if that band on her arm is any indication of something it’s probably that either someone, who’s mostly likely already dead, gave their afterlife to Melinoë and have them act like her arm through some freaky witch-crafting or Hecate actually saved her arm in a way by turning it dead, like the wounds were too grievous to mend and since she’s off the House of Hades having a ghost arm would help her traverse Hades better than her brother with his journey’s before in the OG game
@@fightingpromiss A dialogue with Icarus reveals that she accidentally lost it when attempting a powerful incantation. What this was, I don’t know, but may get a flashback when we travel a bit further along the surface or whenever Icarus gets his final dialogue sprite and 3d model finished.

I love that despite the tragic circumstances Hecate still tried to give Melinoe some semblance of a normal childhood. Playing with her, telling her its ok to cry, and training her.
I remember how back in the first game people were wondering if the narrator was actually Homer because of his reaction to the statue you can get for the house of Hades. It feels so funny to me how they confirmed that by just casually hitting us with Mel suddenly calling him by his name.
Hecate being a truly ancient goddess of magic with immense amounts of knowledge, all while being a chill, fun and very caring surrogate mother that's willing to be both a playmate and mentor for a young girl in her care just makes her an exceptionally awesome personality, especially among the Greek gods. This depiction of her makes her like a greek mythology version of Gandalf, incredibly knowledgeable, but also can loosen up and has a soft spot for their much younger friends.
I have a feeling Hecate has something to hide. in hades 1 Zagreus starts out hating his dad, thinking of him as a one dimensional villain then slowly realizing that he is just a person with flaws like everyone else. so far in hades 2 Melinoe thinks very highly of Hecate, admiring her very much. Maybe Hades 2 is about how just because someone is a great parent does not mean they are a great person. Maybe she had something to do with Chronos taking over the underworld, and adopted Melinoe out of guilt.
Could be. But so far hades stick with the myth versions of the gods and heroes. Some alterations but nothing out of line. And in myths Hecate was never malicious.
@@danzansandeev6033 could be that she’s responsible for Kronus coming back somehow, perhaps not out of any sort of malice, but maybe she accidentally freed him?
@@somerandomschmuck2547 i doubt she would be that incompetent, i feel like the twist would be that melinoe herself freed him, and hecate covered up by erasing her memories
It is technically possible, considering that Hecate was considered a mediator between the Olympians and the Titans. She also held the keys to Tartaros/Tartarus. There's a chance she accidentally helped Chronos to escape, perhaps she was even threatened and forced into releasing him somehow. Though it's very clear that she adored Persephone and likely had a good relationship with Hades, considering she would personally guide Persephone back to her mother from the Underworld. She isn't a malicious goddess, so I think if she did "betray" Melinoe and her family, it was because she had no other choice or it was by complete accident. I am curious to see what her story is.
For someone who reminds Mel that Persephone is her mother, not her, Hecate clearly fills the role well. When you think about it, Hecate is the only mother that Mel has actually known. Witch mom is definitely getting the first ambrosia I get my hands on!
Oh! She doesn’t have the skeleton arm yet
Oh wow that’s a real good point, I totally missed that. Great observation

I've seen situations where the narrator is an actual character, but I've never seen them get called out so blatantly.
If you enjoy narrator interaction and Hades' style of sass, you might like Slay the Princess

I love that they explicitly say that The Narrator is actually Homer in this game. It's implied in the first game, but confirmation is nice 😊

Good point, but we don’t have enough sources about Hecate to have a defined narrative. The writers are flying way more blind with this one.
