The Lions look like a team that’s better than their record indicates
definitely, but also the cardinals are way overrated
They lost to the Ravens on a world record field goal
It's true...they have lost many games by field goals
They play hard despite not being as talented as most teams. Very young as well. Goff over thinks a lot, when he goes on instinct, he plays well. I've enjoyed pulling for this team despite the losses, some day we will win. I just hope it's in my lfetime
I was thinking all year, this is the best winless team I’ve ever seen. If I were to match them up against the 08 lions, or 17 browns, I’d take the 2021 team by at least 10 points over both of them.
Lions have played Cards tough in recent years and Goff has played well against them. Great to see Detroit shut everyone up. This is a very Lions move beating one of the best teams in the league.
I dony think they shut anyone up everyones been rooting for them to win. There the underdog feel good story.
This is typical Lions. Suck when it matters then win meaningless games get their fans hope thinking next season will be it.

This is why I love the NFL. Despite records, the difference in talent levels is a lot smaller than college between teams. If you don't prepare and bring your A game every week, you can easily lose to anyone. Great effort by the Lions to show their fangs and build some momentum as the year comes to a close.

@@HinokamiKagura10 penalties. Refs call what they want. The qb only does what the coach tells him. they design it. For example, you pick a line up on draft kings, you pick all the top players. Befire the games start you cant change it, all this info is sent to new york. Than they make sure those players don’t perform well, they call the coaches and they run other plays. than the house wins. thats why random players do good. They can see the data and work around it. Its always been gambling. Evans, Godwin, Fournette were all taken out with “injuries”. If theyre back next week thats proof. All money was on Bucs and everyone lost their money.

I dont care what anyone says, Detroit actually has some talent on that team and just caught some really bad breaks this year. Dan Campbell has those guys playing hard despite them getting shelled in most of those games..And Gus Johnson, maybe the most underappreciated commentator in sports because he makes you wish you were at the game itself the way he gets into it
Detroit most definitely DOES NOT have talent on their team, especially on offense when their best player is Reynolds who is literally a 3rd strong WR on 90% of nfl teams. Their defense is okay but again mostly filled with no name
Players, the fact that they have 2 wins and a tie should all be credited to Campbell honestly

- The Lions offensive line was ranked 13th last year and was ranked 10th coming into this season. Injuries and covid are the only reason why they've struggled this year but when healthy, the o-line is pretty decent.
- TJ Hockenson is a top 5-8 tight end
- D'Andre Swift is a complete back who is one of the better receiving backs in the nfl. He has 1,000 total yards and 6 total tds this year even though he missed 3.5 games.
- Jamaal Williams is a quality back who is also dual threat. He was one of the top free agent backs in the league last year. Between him and Swift they have about 1,600 total yards and 8 total tds this year. That's one of the better rb combos in the league.
Now, I'm not saying their offense is good. I'm just saying there's more to work with on offense than defense. The offense is one legit wr and a good qb away from being pretty good. The defense basically needs everything to even be average.
In short, the defense is definitely not "ok" and Reynolds certainly isn't their best offensive player. Everything else you said was pretty spot on though.

@@AdamB34 listen buddy, every team in the nfl has at least a few players that are alright, but lions lost both of their good wrs, Matt Stafford, and both RBs have been plagued with injuries the whole year, the offensive line isn’t horrible but it’s still bad, and the defense is basically the same way. If you look at the lions and think they have talent then you’re high, when you compare them with the rest of the league they don’t. People don’t know how to think outside of the last game they watch I swear

I have high hopes for the lions next year if they can just build on what they got now and carry all this passion with them they can definitely go wins a lot more games
The fact these guys played this hard, with "nothing" to play for, and beat a good team with EVERYTHING to play for. I'll tell you what it's been rough this year but we got a coach. I LOVE the way this team is being put together. No excuses. Do your jobs. And GRIND. That offensive line doing work, so many guys out, hit big in the draft and suddenly we're looking at a competitive team next year.

If you can get a decent running game and sell the play-action, Goff will be much better . The head coach has to realize that . The tight end has to take care of those short routs too . Make the 3rd downs manageable .
I really wish they can fight for Devision next year. Goff is not bad and Dan Campell is good. And i hope they spend good on free agency and get good draft picks
I’m a bears fan, but I love watching the lions win. The fans have had absolute terrible luck for so long, but it looks like this new coaching staff offers a ton of potential. Glad to see them take a win, as long as the don’t be the bears. 🐻⬇️

I really like this team the progression. I don’t care what anyone says, Campbell has made no excuses and has held everyone accountable. His staff is starting to show why they were hired as this team has gotten better week by week. This defense is starting to gel and Goff is looking more comfortable. I think year 2 will be better. Maybe not playoffs but way better than what we’ve seen at the beginning

I'm a Dallas fan and I also usually root for AZ against most teams, but today we all were guest members of the Pride. I been rooting for Detroit this year, and this win right here is the reward for everyone regardless of affiliation who just wanted to see Detroit get rewarded for keeping the fight going. It would be extraordinarily difficult to throw an NFL game. You would need multiple players in on it. The coaching staff. Not to mention doing it as you're trying to position for home field advantage in the playoffs.

Most complete football game I've seen the Lions play since 2014. This was also easily Goffs best game in Honolulu blue. Things are looking up!

Or the cardinals are just not that good. They've looked mediocre at best since racking up a bunch of wins early against trash teams. They've lost multiple games to teams with losing records and but for some fluke plays would have lost two more.
Lions have definitely completed step 1 in the rebuild. They found some talent in a bunch of “nobodies” that they can keep for the future, they also got a big win against a good team. Next step they build on that next year and find a superstar or 2, and pile some wins up. Then after next year start competing for playoff spots

The touchdown play at 2:35 is most impressive to me.
Goff runs a play action rollout and when he spins around, he sees the rush off the right edge. The Goff-of-Old would've curled into a ball and taken the sack, or rushed a bad pass, leading to a strip sack and fumble recovery, INT, or a simple incompletion. Instead, he darts into the pocket to dodge the defender, looks downfield to an open St Brown and throws a DIME. Unreal play by Goff
Coming back to the play knowing St. Brown was actually supposed to hold the block on 9 a little bit before taking off on the route makes it that much more impressive. Luckily the play worked out but I agree that Goff's composure was stellar

A lot of Detroit's losses were just a few points. Couple breaks here and there and this team would be a lot closer to .500 or better. Luck always plays a part in the greatest seasons, but it also plays a part in the worst seasons. Detroit has talent on the field and sidelines, they just haven't found the formula and it's cost them many a close game.
The two most-fun games I've watched this season so far are the victories from Detroit "Giant Killers" Lions.
I feel like the lions could have been a great team this szn, they did great again other teams in the past, they just couldn’t finished it, had they played like this against the Vikings, bears, browns, Steelers, rams, ravens, and niners they could have been a dangerous playoff contender

Im a cards fan and ive been wanting mccoy back for a while. Murray backs up too much and then gets bodied. Even if he isn't tackled. He still gets ran over by interceptions. Dude gives the other teams too much time to react cuz he goes for long balls a lot.
