I just got my first Harley, as well as my first "Road Bike." I got it from my uncle, It's an '03 Road King Anniversary with less than 10k on the clock. It's also got (I believe) a stage 3 kit on it. I'm new to Harleys, But it's got the highest kit you can put on it. It's torqey as hell and it gets up and moves haha I fell in love when I rode my Brothers '16 Street Glide...I really can't wait for summer to come through, I'm going to ride the shit out of my "new" baby.
Congrats! Long as you're happy. I just bought a new Road King. I'm not a fairing bells & whistles kind of guy, plus love the larger frame on the Road King. Added Cobra race pro pipes, super tuner & screamin' eagle air intake & power upgrade. Things a rocket!!!
I test drove the RK and SG, both brand new 2015. I went with the RK and have no regrets. I use a Garmin GPS I already had on long trips. Got the HD Boom system which sounds good through my phone or MP3 player. Rinehart pipes to give it a lil rumble :) Larger frame played in my decision too. Also, didn't like the idea of taking my bike to the shop just because the GPS or some other built in feature wasn't working.
I know how hard it is to get rid of a vehicle. I always get so attached to mine. However sad it is, you do have a nice replacement to make you feel better. Enjoy the Street Glide and make some new memories.
Did the same thing a few months back. Loved all bikes I owned. The 05 custom sportster, 07 sportster low injected, and 05 FLHRCI. Had many pleasant rides. Longest trip was from deep South Louisiana to Peoria Illinois. She sat for awhile due to work related injury that has me disabled. Once I started getting a paycheck again I hot her back rolling on the highway. Not long after I started seeing preview of the 2019 bikes. The one that caught my attention most is the road glide special with a 114mk8. Almost left the dealer when they pulled one out of no where with SE1, Rhineharts and tandem docking kitt already installed. Before I knew it I was rolling out with her in industrial gray denim paint. I don't regret getting her because she a healthy beast that even at 70mph when you rap the pipes you fell a jolt of energy that makes you who it he'll yeah.
She is a beautiful . The Road King had a great sound and was a good bike. You still have vlogs to remember the good times. The new accessories will be pretty cool when they show up. Looking forward to some new vlogs with the Street Glide. Congrats on the bike. Will be great on the next meetup. Love the color.

Recently traded my FLHR in for an FLHX myself. Was difficult for me to as I checked off a bucket list item and rode Dragons Tail on my ole FLHR. Felt like i betrayed a trusted friend but its been a few weeks now and I love the Street Glide! Thanks for sharing.
Awesome!! When you buy a brand new Harley it's a experience you never forget. I purchased the very first 2015 model Ultra sold at my dealership. One thing about Harley Davidson is that the dealership I've been to are the best! Congrats and enjoy!

I feel your pain Shawn....I know for sure you didn't want to let that 'Old Girl' go..... I just saw your reply to Edward Weiszbeck and know that you relived that pain... You rescued that 'Old Girl' my friend, no one saw what you saw when she arrived in the shop, and she was looking all old and tired....you did good by her, and she served you well, you did what you had to do, and hopefully that young lady looked after that 'Old Girl' in the manor she deserved. Hopefully...she won't be looking for that 6th gear you kept trying to find.....
Well when I saw this video it reminds me to my RK I sold 2 weeks ago right now after riding 15 years on it .I changed it for a sporster but still have some cool memories after seeing this and a bit of sadness after all because I sold him.Road kings are nice machines .I had almost the same like yours.

Nice one Shawn.... It's always sad to part with an old friend, but the sadness is soon exchanged for the adrenalin rush of a new bike.. I have a heal and toe shifter on my bike and I hate it... I have a bad habit of accidentally knocking it up to neutral when I go to take off... unfortunately mine is a complex setup and can't really be changed to a toe shifter only. I can take to it with a hacksaw and remove the heel part, but I am reluctant to do it...If and when I sell the bike, the next owner might prefer it was there.... Congratulations on the street glide. I am progressing through the H-D models myself. Two weeks ago, I went from a sportster Iron to a Street Bob. Here at my preferred dealer in Queensland, Australia they don't do the Bell / Horn thing. But they do make you feel special. The Street Glide will be my next H-D purchase in a few years. Hopefully keeping the street bob also.

Now you inform us you got a Harley too and I think you're getting ready to get a new Street Glide. Man, God sure has smiled on you. I'd give almost anything to have those bikes and trikes. I don't want much, just a Spyder RT, A Harley Road Glide CVO, A Harley Tri Glide Ultra, An Indian Chieftain Trike, A Gold Wing 1800 bike and a Gold Wing 1800 Trike and last but not least, a new Corvette Convertible. Congrats!!!! Funny coincidence, I also traded in my ride for a brand new Street Glide Special this past Wednesday. I love that Denim Black. It has a very cool Rat Rod vibe about it. That was the color of the Street Bob I was trading in, so I decided to change things up and went with Amber Whiskey for my SGS.
Congrats Shawn, beautiful bike, know you are going to love it. They just came out with a 1.9 firmware upgrade on the info sys. you might want to check to see if yours is updated. just a fyi. . Gear indicator does not show when clutch is in or in neutral.
Mike BigEasyRider - Thanks Mike! Loving it so far... Thanks for the firmware tip, I had 1.8 installed. That update was 1GB and freakin took forever, but it all went very smoothly. I figured that out finally about the gear indicator finally... Thought I was going nuts there for a bit! Lol

(See my previous comment)You sure don't ride the SGS nearly enough Shawn..... not sure if that salesman knows what you do or who you are... but, I sure would be doing the 'I'm not worthy' 'bows' if I was trying to tell you the 'features and benefits' of a motorcycle....hats off to you Rob, great job! I think the 'trick' to selling a motorcycle is to buy the 'wrong' one in the first place, that way it would be so much easier... I'll let you know when that happens.... hated selling everyone so far....even my Honda SS50 (not sure if they were before your time Shawn...)
Hi, you were talking about the rear cylinder shutting off.....that's because you have the EITMS system enabled. You should be able to turn it off if it is really bothering you.

It's a gutter to lose the RoadKing, but I'm sure you're going to have a great time with the new StreetGlide. I have to admit, cruise control on a bike freaks me the hell out! I could never use it myself. Haha. that whole celebration thing it cool, but man it must be embarrassing. There's no better feeling in the world than riding away on your brand new bike for the first time. Congrats mate.

I looked at a new Road King, Heritage Softail, and Street Glide..... I decided to keep my 2008 Dyna Glide Low Rider..... I just can't part with it. I love this bike!
I was at Daytona Bike Week, I rode a Victory Vegas, I test rode a Street Glide there, my honest opinion of it, it felt like an aluminum foil POS, but after a couple more test rides, and having an explanation conversation of the difference of the two bikes, I bought an Electra Glide and cruise around a lot without the Tour Pack. All I can say is I am HAPPY with my choice also

Well… I deeply regretted getting rid of the Road King, even purchased the M8 SGS after this one. In 2020, I traded the 2017 SGS for a new Road King and couldn’t be happier..! Got my first 200 miles on my street glide, love-it! Smooth quite, and I’m a guy that prefers the faring moves with my forks. Stock radio is worthless though, can’t hear-it thru my helmet, plan to upgrade next spring. Anybody have experience with the stage 1upgrade-speakers and amplifier? It it worth it?
Good to know...That, coupled with the lower suspension travel and ground clearance steered me towards the Road King. I use my smart phone with turn by turn directions from Google maps or the Calimoto app through my BT helmet speakers for navigation. Will upgrade my sound system in the form of a V&H Pro-pipe when my warranty is up.
So how are you liking the Street Glide so far? That Road King is one hell of a bike, I'm about to trade in my 06' Street Glide on a new Bike but haven't made up my mind as to what I want yet....Enjoyed the video.....Keep the rubber down........

Main difference would be ‘comfort’ unless you have glass smooth roads - I went from an Electraglide Standard to a Street Glide and then to an Ultra Classic after the Street Glide almost broke my back. The again - Australian roads are not all HD friendly if you want to go touring. And anyway with quick release gear and extra seat I can convert my Ultra to a virtual Street Glide in 5 minutes......best combo I reckon. 😎
I know how you feel. I just traded my Jeep Wrangler for a new 2015 FLHP last Friday Aug 7, 2015. While I no longer have a 4 wheeled vehicle, I am very happy to at last at age 65 to have my dream machine a Harley-Davidson Police Motorcycle.

Roll the throttle before your ready take off and the second cylinder should kick back in.

Yep, simply twist the throttle forward for a moment and it toggles EITMS on or off...

I looked at a new Road King, Heritage Softail, and Street Glide..... I decided to keep my 2008 Dyna Glide Low Rider..... I just can't part with it. I love this bike!

I was at Daytona Bike Week, I rode a Victory Vegas, I test rode a Street Glide there, my honest opinion of it, it felt like an aluminum foil POS, but after a couple more test rides, and having an explanation conversation of the difference of the two bikes, I bought an Electra Glide and cruise around a lot without the Tour Pack. All I can say is I am HAPPY with my choice also

Well… I deeply regretted getting rid of the Road King, even purchased the M8 SGS after this one. In 2020, I traded the 2017 SGS for a new Road King and couldn’t be happier..! I’ll keep this Road King for the rest of my days.

Nice ride. Your dealer said riding the RK was like a wooden bike and the Street glide is a Ferrari. Well, how do you like the Street Glide? I'm a Road King man , no matter what kind of bells and whistles the other HDs' have.....Road King is king. Congrats, enjoy your new HD and be safe. Full watch.

Got my first 200 miles on my street glide, love-it! Smooth quite, and I’m a guy that prefers the faring moves with my forks. Stock radio is worthless though, can’t hear-it thru my helmet, plan to upgrade next spring. Anybody have experience with the stage 1upgrade-speakers and amplifier? It it worth it?
Good to know...That, coupled with the lower suspension travel and ground clearance steered me towards the Road King. I use my smart phone with turn by turn directions from Google maps or the Calimoto app through my BT helmet speakers for navigation. Will upgrade my sound system in the form of a V&H Pro-pipe when my warranty is up.
So how are you liking the Street Glide so far? That Road King is one hell of a bike, I'm about to trade in my 06' Street Glide on a new Bike but haven't made up my mind as to what I want yet....Enjoyed the video.....Keep the rubber down........

Came out of the cave here...You rode your bike into the dealership but the sales guy felt the need to instruct you how to ring the bell. 😂 Sweet bike Smoaks! You done good.
Main difference would be ‘comfort’ unless you have glass smooth roads - I went from an Electraglide Standard to a Street Glide and then to an Ultra Classic after the Street Glide almost broke my back. The again - Australian roads are not all HD friendly if you want to go touring. And anyway with quick release gear and extra seat I can convert my Ultra to a virtual Street Glide in 5 minutes......best combo I reckon. 😎

I know how you feel. I just traded my Jeep Wrangler for a new 2015 FLHP last Friday Aug 7, 2015. While I no longer have a 4 wheeled vehicle, I am very happy to at last at age 65 to have my dream machine a Harley-Davidson Police Motorcycle.
