MY STORY:
In 2016 I had been in law enforcement for 7 years.
I was not in control of my schedule, I was hardly making any money, and I was away from my family working nights and holidays. I was capable of more, and I was silently suffering. I knew I was selling myself and my family short.
I started Florida Turf Pros as a side hustle in 2016 before going full time in 2017.
My lawn business changed my life.
I control my own schedule, control my own income, and I am proud of what I have built; a business that supports me, my family, and some employees.
If you are a lawn care business owner, this channel will be a valuable resource for you.
This really is a great industry to be in, and I hope that by documenting my journey it will help you.

We mulch trim clippings as well. Had to record a video we send out to clients via email, that helps some who are hesitant understand it looks good
Thanks for sharing!
We do the same but not roses or those prickly type/thorny bushes
.... Not worth causing a flat tire.
The tips you been dropping has really help thanks 🙏🏾
Glad to hear it
facts, i use a grass catcher to pickup the hedge debris
That’s what you want , way to go ! Looking super sharp !! And Professional that’s what it’s about you got it my friend 👍
Appreciate it!!
Same here especially being a solo operator I try to mulch up all clippings I would rather replace the blades then me do all that raking more efficiently in my opinion
Wide paint mixer bit can help mix up " compost" before installing the plant in the ground.
Pine straw!? Fla, thing?? Ive not seen in CT.. standard mulch do use at all?? Ty
Yes, we use pinestraw all throughout the year here.
Commercial blades are hard to break. But the spindle might get messed up.
Did you use moasure to lay those measurements out?
Yes, I have a full review coming on it.
I just got my Moasure this week. Should make bed, patio and walkway estimates way faster!
Just wondering cus I usually see mulch in beds here in Texas but do you tuck the pine straw in the border? or let it hang like around the 5:12 mark of the video? Just wondering if clients say anything! Y’all make that clients property pop!🙌🏼awsome💪🏼
We'll come through with the blowers and make sure everything is tucked in nice at the end of the job.
Any advice on preference for operator discharge, manual or the foot pedal cable one? If so you have a link for the referral?
I use the Gravely OEM and have been very happy with them... It has the manual lever/cable system.
Do you have to ever remove pine straw from the beds because it gets too thick after years of application?
No, it breaks down and turns into soil.
Same
Rock Jay
A men to that
Do you use weed fabric?
See latest video.
So funny you southerners get paid to put pine straw down here in the west Colorado we get paid to pick it up 😂
Nice looking yard! We do very little pine straw over in NE Florida besides one commercial client that is a well-known hardware store so they provide their own material. We do a ton of bark nuggets because the ground stays so wet here. Straw was the predominant mulch when I grew up in GA. When you have clients with straw, are you installing twice a year or just once? I guess that's the down side is it's not quite as durable long-term but can be good on the install revenue!
