✵In June 1956, the first portion of the interstate system was opened in Central Missouri. from there Interstates started to be built all around the country. from north to south, east to west, all across the united states. In 1974, Nebraska became the first state to complete all of its interstates, in 1979 I-5 was completed, In 1986, I-80 was completed, becoming the first coast-to-coast interstate in history. And in 1992 the final portion of the original plan was completed in Glenwood Canyon, Colorado. And then it just kinda stopped. Every once in a while a new interstate spur route or other smaller ones would be finished, but overall that was the end for major interstate construction in the united states. But I feel like it was before the US was ready for the interstate system to stop building new roads. There were still a lot of routes that hadn't been built, that really needed to be built. So that's why I'm here today to give 5 Places I think there should really be new interstate highways built.
