    Thanks for this video. Would not have had a clue what to look for with the ESIM switch without this. Kept having a recurring "gas cap" warning and check engine light on a 2008 Chrysler Sebring. Changing rhe gas cap solved it for a couple of months before it came back. Went for a service at the dealer and they told me at was the ESIM switch, but wanted approx. $600 to change it. With this video, I was able to see what I was looking for, found the part for $35 and changed it myself. For anyone else with a 2008 Sebring, the charcoal canister is on the driver's side, and just inboard of the wheel well, so you don't need to remove either the wheel or the panel to get to it

      Does this part affect the cooling system? I’m running hot and the only issue popping on the diagnostic is esim for the check engine light as well.

    Did this on a 2007 Jeep Liberty in about 20 minutes. It's located almost exactly in the middle and directly above the gas tank on the front side. I was able to get both hands up there to work without taking anything off. Super easy to work on (as are most things on this Jeep).

    You hurried up the video at the most important times you might have struggled but it would have been nice to see the pressure needed and how it would come off and how it would go on

      There is a tang that needs to be depressed and then the unit needs to be rotated clockwise and will move away from the canister as it rotates.

    So, what's the deal that you didn't show how to reinstall the ESIM. It's not easy to reinstall this module.

    • @13612
      @13612 2 місяці тому

      It is easier to put in than take out...the tab to depress and taking the liner out is the most difficult part and that's not difficult...he just fumbled a little and cut that part out with an edit. Not difficult at all.

    I just did this job on my 2010 Ram 1500 with 25 gal tank. The video is good but here is extra color.
    As was said in the other comments, the device is on the back side of the gas tank, on the drive shaft side. It is hidden by a heat shield. The tank does not need to be dropped at all as was stated in some other videos. Study this video and you can the feel around the device to unhook it in place. I did not need to jack up my truck at all. Remove that electrical connection by pinching it good. You will hear it click then you can pull backwards. Pulling the hose off requires some twisting to loosen it. Once that is done, wrap your hand around the device to feel for that tab on the bottom. Pull it toward the device and rotate the module. If you can do this, the reverse is easy. I did run my fingers over the gas tank to check for foreign debris before putting the new device on.
    Last thing, the code will need to be cleared out. I did it by disconnecting the battery, then hitting the horn and cycling the ignition a couple of times. Got to get that residual voltage out. I did not do a full test of my truck but did an in place startup and the check engine light is off and the gas cap light is off too. I will drive it later today to test it further.

      Car dealership repair shops are always highway robbery. Finding a good mom and pop shop can be tough. I find that mom and pop shops will misdiagnose issues that I can self diagnose with 15 minutes of Googling. DIY is best for all but the biggest repairs, IMHO.

      It. should be attached directly to the charcoal cannister at the front lower end of the gas tank. That's where it was on the 2007-9s and 2010s so I assume it's similar.
