I recently bought a '97 black GT with black leather seats.. It has about 101k miles on it, still running very strong! It's a real blast to drive.. Love it.
Great car for new drivers(was my first car). I bought my '00 GT with all the bells and whistles in 2011 with 49k miles on it for 6500 and its now at 89k miles and still drives perfectly and handles very well even for it being such a long wheel base and wrong wheel drive. 3800 motors are solid. Too bad GM had to get rid of Pontiac. Should've ditched Buick.
Ryan Dougherty They're just solid. The only thing I don't like is the transmission on the car. It doesn't hold up. Guess GM vehicles have problems with that.
The 3.8 and 3.8SC are engines that I've literally seen go upwards of 400,000 miles. I drove it last night and it still runs like a champ! The engine actually got rewards back when it was new for being very fast, and being very reliable, while still retaining gas mileage. Cadillac had the 4.6L DOHC and it was junk compared to this superior engine.
zzzhuh oh I totally agree with you on that. and I've seen an engine go to a little over 600k and the only maintenance on it was oil changes and a head gasket and spark plugs. thats pretty much it.
Emma Anderson I recently got an '11 Charger RT and I still drive the GP every now and again, and I kinda miss the turd. haha. Odometer is at 89.5K miles
If Pontiac were still around today, I would have bought one to replace my Chevy Cobalt. Wonder what a 2018 Grand Prix or Bonneville would look like? Ah, if only . . .
I would possibly not be fwd because they would've gotten help with cadillac with a cts wheelbase for the grand prix and a ct6 wheelbase for the Bonneville but would then become a wheelbase exclusive for pontiac
I always thought they should’ve kept Pontiac instead of Buick Pontiac was known for being futuristic and cool while Buick today is still known as a grandma car
DailyVlogHub my 2003 was a straight lemon. I loved it but it had endless exhaust problems. AC didn’t work for unknown reasons. Caliper Bolt came out and one end of the sway bar broke off. I have both a grand prix gt (2008, 170k) and the grand am gt (2003, 90k) had both since new. Grand am was my grandmas and she died so its mine now. Should run another 10 years. The curling dash hasn't happened to me yet either. Was always parked in shade
I'm 17 and my 2002 Grand Prix has been in our possession since 01, there have been a number of problems throughout the years, but overall it is a great car and I would highly recommend it, it is very reliable
@@Bloonstin you probably bought it from somebody that didn't take good care of it. I bought a 2002 Pontiac Grand Prix GT Coupe, and I have had very minimal problems.
My family owns a 2000 Grand Prix GT in forest green with tan heated leather, cd player, bose stereo, HUD, Moonroof, power everything, 3800 V6, with shiny torque star rims. It was built March of Y2K (My birthday is March 10th, 00') So the car is really special to me! Watching this had me in tears. Lol. I had a silver one. Ran into a guard rail because a dumbass in a camaro spun his car around and made me total it. Slammed on the brakes and slide right into a guard rail. Man im gonna miss her.

@hylander89 Nope. Remove the plastic surround that goes around the radio, remove the radio from the dash (2 screws) then remove the few screws to get the face of the radio off, and the bulb just unscrews. Takes about 20 mins from start to finish.
@CheatCheaters thx, I used to detail cars for a used car dealership back when i was a teen... basically i restored them to get the most value out of a vehicle. It has taught me a lot about what to look for when buying a used car though. I actually crashed my 93 mark 8 a couple weeks ago so im looking at another used car right now, I am thinking about a 2000 buick park avenue ultra.
The radio display bulb is a common problem. Instead of lighting the display using LED's, they used a regular incandescent bulb. Good thing its an easy and cheap fix. Ive seen so many people scrap these radios thinking the whole radio is "junk"
@BladedKing Dealers tend to overprice cars so im not suprised. If I was to buy one it would be from a private owner and not a dealer. I dont like dealers. I have a 2000 se I paid 2100 for it. It had 110,000 miles. I wanna get the gt or gtp next year. I was gonna get the gt at first but the dealer where I live wanted 8000 to do a payment plan. That gt also had over 133,000 miles. Since this vehicle's equipment is analog-only, its OnStar system will not operate on the digital cellular network. This equipment cannot be upgraded to operate on the digital network. In Other Words, the buttons on this Grand Prix's Mirror do nothing, your screwed in an accident, and your SOL if it gets stolen.
@saabkyle04 that radio display issue is typical with that style pontiac radio.... I have known several pontiacs that have had theirs go out on them around 100-150k miles
Kyle I know that you mar mainly focused on reviewing cars, but have you ever thought about reviewing other things suck as ATVS, Boats, or even Lawnmowers for that matter?
@SuperSportSS yah definitely. i have nothing against this car, i like it alot. im a little biased lol i tend to lean torwards imports but everyone has different tastes. this car is no exception to awesome tho :)
@studogs80 I totally agree. I hate their stop sign system more though. I much prefer roundabouts. Their road system requires no thinking process when driving!
They went out of business because pontiacs and saturn were both very good cars. they had very good engines and the bodys were extremly good too. they never went bad so people just kept them and GM lost money.....then they got rid of them :(
if anyone here a Pontiac guy and can tell me why the exact car here+ I have also+ why it will start great and run great but if I turn engine off I have a hard time restarting it? it don't stall on me. it is only if I turn switch off. I just recently started having issue? the Hayes repair manual insist 3 issues. 1+ corroded battery connections. 2.+ dirty air filter. #3+ engine not getting fuel to injector system. I have changed my air filter less than 1 year ago. and my battery connections on top are clean and tight. I haven't looked at any lower connections yet. I don't know if I have an injector issue but I got to find out. does anyone know about these cars having this problem ? difficult starts when engine is hot?

4-speed automatic
I’ve never own a American car before I owned only Japanese cars like Toyota Honda and Nissan because of their reliability now I think want a Grand Prix
@SuperSportSS I just plugged the VIN on OnStar's Website, and got this Message: This is an analog-only vehicle, with equipment that can only operate on the analog cellular network.
Pretty good review, made cover the instrument panels more descriptely....
Just got this same color/model car for $3695 with a little over 150 k miles.
@Annihilator1111 the grand prix gxp has a 5.3L V8
How can you change the exterior door handle? Mine is a 2001 with 163k
Do you go to a bunch of car dealerships or do you work at them? and what is the coolest car youve done a review on?
@saabkyle04 that radio display issue is typical with that style pontiac radio.... I have known several pontiacs that have had theirs go out on them around 100-150k miles
Kyle I know that you mar mainly focused on reviewing cars, but have you ever thought about reviewing other things suck as ATVS, Boats, or even Lawnmowers for that matter?
Hey Kyle, nice video! What about that black Boxster in the background? =)
@SuperSportSS yah definitely. i have nothing against this car, i like it alot. im a little biased lol i tend to lean torwards imports but everyone has different tastes. this car is no exception to awesome tho :)
Same here
lol bad wording on my part. I meant it keeps on running. You can't seem to kill these cars.
Man Im having an extremely hard time deciding between this and an 04-08 nissan maxima!
What's the name of the song with all the violins and such? It's actually pretty good.
@studogs80 I totally agree. I hate their stop sign system more though. I much prefer roundabouts. Their road system requires no thinking process when driving!
They went out of business because pontiacs and saturn were both very good cars. they had very good engines and the bodys were extremly good too. they never went bad so people just kept them and GM lost money.....then they got rid of them :(
Nice car
This is what I loved about Pontiac, they were a little bit fancier than the chevys but you weren't going to pay out the wazzoo for a Buick or Caddy.
is this the 1 that comes supercharged
I wanted one of these, except a GTP. I got an 01 SE, with the godawful 3100 SFI.
@cool3be He did. Search his videos.
if anyone here a Pontiac guy and can tell me why the exact car here+ I have also+ why it will start great and run great but if I turn engine off I have a hard time restarting it? it don't stall on me. it is only if I turn switch off.
Should I get this car or the intrigue ????
@bimjales Any specifics to back this up?
