Thank you for the 1974 Pedicar advert post. It’s a fab little transport option: can reverse, carry 1+ person, and has wind shield/wiper. A few updates, and it’d be 2mkt in 2021! 🚗

What's it got for brakes ? Is this the predecessor of the Smart Car ? If it had a small motor for hills, it'd be perfect !
    👍🇨🇦✌️

The bodywork is reminiscent of the AMC Gremlin.

I think 500 dollars (in 1974) is a bit much of an asking price. (500 today maybe, but back then? I can see a problem)

WHERE are all the so-called environmentalist about wanting a vehicle like this to be made , it's green energy , it doesn't have hazardous batteries to replace etc. if the so called green energy people were actually honest and wanted green energy they could start right here with a product like this, just modernize it with a better sportier body .some wider tires etc. it just goes to show you the green energy people won't promote something that really is green . Many people would buy something like this looking like a car with a roof etc. if the green energy people were really serious ., problem is , they're not. Plus others are making a fortune off materials to make batteries etc. its not green energy they are after its making money from the materials used in green energy .

The problem with these velocars is that these are generally quite heavy at about 50 kg unless made of egzotic materials. They go nice on flats and downhill obviously. But uphill is really challange for any average fitness level. You really sweat a lot in hot weather. That's where e-assist comes into play. In addition to going uphill, one can cover much longer distances on flat. That makes them a better candidate to replace cars. Wider tyres mean much higher drag and weight which would make even less practical. Battery capacity of e-assisted version of these things is generally in the order 1% compared to an average electric car. But personally I feel same as you about e-waste and unfair transfer of funds to China etc. so would not prefer an electric version unless I have to. Closest thing to what you describe is a "velomobile". However those are made of carbonfiber etc and produced at low volumes, thus quite expensive with a price tag about 8-15k USD depending on the model and options.
