It’s interesting that you prefer smaller knives too. When I first started I had big knives. But now I carry a esee 6 as a belt knife and a folding 2 bladed jack knife. For skinning and meat breakdown. Works really well. It maybe has a 3” blade on it. I have an old hickory butcher knife that stays at home now. Great knife. But it’s too big to use as effectively. Great info! Especially about the saws.
Thanks for watching. Its been a progression for me, but I have definitely gravitated away from big knives that I end up only using 2" of the blade anyways.
Nice set of knives. I’ve use a outdoor edge with replacement blades for years last year a good friend made me a fixed blade knife I used as well. For butchering and processing I always use a fillet knife for that
Same, love my outdoor edge knife, especially the curved skinning/gutting blade. It makes easy work for field dressing and opening the cape to get skinned. It also keeps you from dulling your good blades by using it. It comes with a belt holster that has a pocket for extra blades. Nice kit of gear. I also have their kitchen butcher kit. Its a nice set to have at home or deer camp.
Appreciate the video and your recommendations. I have used several replaceable scalpel style knives and I found that none of them work very well for me. I just prefer a folding lock back knife like a kershaw black horse 2 or buck 110 lite. As long as you use your knife properly and keep it sharpened it should stay sharp enough for a whole season of hunting. Also they make great EDC knives as well and aren’t very expensive. Those replaceable blades add up quick.
You should try a morakniv. They are absolutely the best knife for the money. Cheap, great ergonomics, very easy to sharpen and holds an edge. I've been carrying a mora eldris hunting lately. It's a little scalpel.
You have a good selection of knives for most needs as all hunters should have. I still like my Buck 110 folder I've had for decades. Now I'm in my late 60s and yes it could be living in the past some but I do like the new replacement blades, like you say dull one dispose one and keep going. Good video, oh just wondering if you have worn your rubber boots Tide Wii or something like it. Maybe a review on how they have held up ???
Thanks for the feedback. I’m still wearing them frequently and still holding up fairly well. I’m very pleased as they are probably my favorite pair of “muck boots” that I’ve owned.
I have fully processed over 50 animals, from deer to moose, and I have never felt the need for a saw. A knife is more than sufficient. I prefer scalpel-style knives, but if I had to choose only one knife, it would be a fixed-blade knife, made of stainless steel, with a blade no longer than four inches.
Good info. I like the replacement blades. Much easier than stopping mid work and sharpen. It’s nice to replace blade and keep moving.

Great side by side and situational review/explanation. I love my outdoor edge. Good video.
Thanks CLA

Good overview! A sharp knife is a must. I’ve seen your sharpener videos before so I know you’ll have a sharp knife. 👍
Definitely love my work sharp sharpener.

But I'm a hardcore knife nerd.
That swedish steel just puts most other makers to shame.
I am far from a hardcore knife nerd. Thanks for the suggestions.
@@TheBudgetSportsman no problem. I'm very budget minded too.

@@TheBudgetSportsman Glad to hear their holding up, been thinking about a pair.
@@1Whitetail I’ve been thinking about it to. But I do like muck boots. Idk if I should just spend the extra 80 bucks or not

I hope you get a chance to test it soon.
