I miss the days before pop when there were such things called "Music" and "talent." Where ideals like "effort" and "creativity" were considered normal instead of incredibly rare.
It doesnt matter what the music of the day is. One thing is for certain Rock will never die. Music will always come back to its roots. And nothing else matters.
***** Well that "new," better be something else besides Drake, cuz his music is so popular but so shitty. I listen to mostly avenged sevenfold, but I also like to listen to rappers like Kendrick Lamar.
***** Rock has not died because of the fact that day by day, the youth of today are beginning to listen to and appreciate this style of music. It hasn't died because this song was made in 1991 and is still just as relevant as it was then. I do agree that rock/metal like this is not as popular in today's culture as it used to be. But it's making a revival.
***** If rock has already died why are you here listening to it. People will always come back to music that triggers emotion inside them. Songs from 50 years ago will be played 100 years from now. That why it wont die and is not dead.
kirk hammett understood that guitar solos weren't about how fast or technical your playing could be.. he was incredibly skilled at technique and could shred with the best of them; but he understood that it was about the song first and his melodies and timing were always WAY better than most metal guitar lead players imo. i love how this song has both the clean/acoustic-ish solo first which was more pensive and emotional.. and then towards the end he pulls out the more face-melting solo.. and they both serve the song and melody perfectly. he may have had better solos in other songs, but i always felt like this was the best in terms of the musical "journey" and composition. nothing bores and annoys me more than lead guitarists who seem to only want to show off their ability to play scales and arpeggios super fast. this song shows how to do lead right
Right... Ok so when i first started listening to metallica i was doing coke and living like a rock star. Lol now i work and look at life differently i dont do drugs but still drink beers of coarse lol. I guess now when i listen to metallica i tear up because i fully understand life now. Its about over coming demons and treating people right.... Idk im on some next level life stuff lol
Honestly, this song is one of the most perfectly written and orchestrated songs ever released with an incredibly epic guitar bridge. I fucking love this song.
melissa x very true not just music, but sports, movies, tv shows, internet, and it helps having people to get you by. if you need anyone to talk to iam here, i wish the best for you right now, i know you said your boyfriend is on holiday, but thats why we got each other here.
This song is a masterpiece. there are strong production values, but it is not over produced. The strings are there but they are subtle. The heavy effects on both the drums and the acoustic guitars help maintain the song’s metal feel. This is culminated nicely in the guitar solo where the song becomes a full on metal track. And the aggressive buildup up from dirt preceding chorus gives the song the right to that dramatic moment. So it flows nicely instead of this random and jarring wall of sound. And then the immediate dropoff to voice and acoustic guitar is illustrative of the beautiful nuance of the entire song. Bravo, Metallica.
I really wonder when I listen to these songs what it was like to live back in the 80's. It's pure curiosity. Oddly, I always feel nostalgic too, even though I'm not from that time.
This song was ahead of its time metallica will always be one of the greatest to ever do it I respect all the hard work they put into there music their music will live on forever and I will make sure the future generations remember this great band nothing but respect for what they have done accomplished
Love my husband this song is an epic reminder of the truth. A timeless classic , what a wonderful way to express such a sacred bond. Just as this song is.......eternal.
I discovered Metallica at your age, this is so ironic, at the time, my family and I were living in a Hotel and they had kicked us out and we were homeless doing the L.A. riots, I remember this song very clearly on MTV, non stop, he grabbed my soul, James did. Now at forty, I am Metallica fan. Keep rocking kid, music transcends all colors, genders, religions, ages. We are all the same and bleed red. Spread love! 🤘🤘🤘🤘😂🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘.
Sorry for your lost man. My grandmother passed away 5 years ago, and I wish I could listen to music like this with her. She was the best friend I will never get again. So, keep pushing on brother. Much Love!!!!
When you want to cry and find a warm shoulder. That's exactly what this song is. Fortunatelly everything is fine, but sometimes must remember that we can lose what we have, stay on the ground and be thankful.
This song is about how difficult life can be, but that we should always remember to live our lives and not let those things ruin us. It's about overcoming adversity and realizing that the tragedies of life are just something that happens to everyone, regardless of their position. This means that you have nothing else to worry about. You have no control over your life or even your future because it is all out of your hands; unless you chose to take control of it.
Damn near 30 years old and still a masterpiece. You can say what you want, but Metallica made music that changed everything. Ride the lighting was a milestone in blending thrash with harmony. Cliff Burton was a genius. Kill em All was a 20 Megaton Neutron bomb of Hardcore metal mixed with symphonic story and poetry. The black album was very mainstream, but if you are going to go corporate, do it while shoving a pineapple in the establishments Ass sideways. Load and reload were toned down, but really more into sonic experimentation (for Metallica anyways). S&M was ground breaking and has since been copied by many. St Anger... well everyone makes mistakes. I think they wanted to get back to where they came from, but were using a Tom Tom and wound up getting lost. Death magnetic makes me think of a cross between Load and Kill em All. I haven't checked out Hardwired Just yet. I know the stuff is on the Internet, but I have a tradition. When I'm chomping at the bit for a new album to come out from a band I truly enjoy hearing, I purposely try not to hear any of the new stuff before I actually get the album and play it through, full blast and hear every tone and nuance. Given my current living situation, my neighbors would have me and my family kicked out. Unfortunately I live in a part of the world that considers pop garbage to be music and everything anyone here listens to has the same 1/2 beat at 120 bpm. I call it musical pergatory. You look up and see good music. You look down and see your feet standing in the same sh*t that is polluting your ears, but hasn't risen to your nose and mouth yet. Most of you call it Europe. Every now and then a concert or a festival come through in the summer and remove a bucket or two of the sh*t so you don't drown. However the rest of the year it just pours in through every speaker and drowns you slowly. A decade ago an occasional kernel of corn or far bubble came through the speakers. At least it was different. The last couple of years has been nothing but sonic feces.
John Vincent if metallica "fucking sucks dick" then don't listen to them? Or go out of your way to look up a metallica song just to comment on it. Anyways whatever man live your life don't really give a shit if you like an or not
This song reminds me of coming back on the drive home from my grandparents in the car with my mom dad and brother. Don't no why but still till this day aged 40 this song hits hard!!! Miss them so much
My neighbours favorite music style is Metallica and nu-metal too. But the walls are very thick so I am never really sure if they can understand all lyrics clearly :D
This was my anthem when I was in my teens and I still trust in God an who He made me! I have now revisited it turning 40 and really need it the same way!

I miss the days before pop when there were such things called "Music" and "talent." Where ideals like "effort" and "creativity" were considered normal instead of incredibly rare.
*****
You... I LIKE you! :D *highfive*
This is not a song... This is an anthem of a soul...
💙
kirk hammett understood that guitar solos weren't about how fast or technical your playing could be.. he was incredibly skilled at technique and could shred with the best of them; but he understood that it was about the song first and his melodies and timing were always WAY better than most metal guitar lead players imo. i love how this song has both the clean/acoustic-ish solo first which was more pensive and emotional.. and then towards the end he pulls out the more face-melting solo.. and they both serve the song and melody perfectly. he may have had better solos in other songs, but i always felt like this was the best in terms of the musical "journey" and composition. nothing bores and annoys me more than lead guitarists who seem to only want to show off their ability to play scales and arpeggios super fast. this song shows how to do lead right
kk
so true I agree
swish007 actually james hetfield wrote this solo lol
Daniel SIMPSON and he was the one who played it
James hetfield stupid
BEST METAL BAND EVER. DON'T ARGUE WITH ME, I'M RIGHT. AND NOTHING ELSE MATTERS....

I just can't understand why people would not like this song. I understand this wouldn't be what Metallica would make but it is still a great song.
I can hear deep emotional pain when I hear the song...it has deep meaning to it

FAVORITE METALLICA SONG, WHILE LISTENING TO THIS SONG *NO OTHER SONG MATTERS* THAT'S THE TRUTH.
Mine too. My boyfriend is on holiday for about 3 weeks. And I'm gonna miss him so much that I listen "our" songs
melissa x Music is a lifesaver.
Juda Martinez it's true
melissa x very true not just music, but sports, movies, tv shows, internet, and it helps having people to get you by. if you need anyone to talk to iam here, i wish the best for you right now, i know you said your boyfriend is on holiday, but thats why we got each other here.
Juda Martinez music is life, it helps all the time , like right now , my heart is broken but this song helps
2023 ? are you here
As always!
Of course bro🖤
But i know nothig else metter 2024

Not many songs that can make the hair stand on end all over, simply bliss 🥰🤘🏻
I really wonder when I listen to these songs what it was like to live back in the 80's. It's pure curiosity. Oddly, I always feel nostalgic too, even though I'm not from that time.
there is a term for that, nostalgia for something you've never experienced... can't remember the name right now and i can't be bothered to google it
+pingu_rekt deja vu?
no a deja vu is when you think you already lived that moment.
+willem kauffeld ppl are so ignorant! lol
But this song is from the 90s.

I'm only 12 and I'm so happy this music is around! I've just started yr 7 and this music helps with homework and work in hard classes
Rock it dude you are never too young or old reach out for it
I discovered Metallica at your age, this is so ironic, at the time, my family and I were living in a Hotel and they had kicked us out and we were homeless doing the L.A. riots, I remember this song very clearly on MTV, non stop, he grabbed my soul, James did. Now at forty, I am Metallica fan. Keep rocking kid, music transcends all colors, genders, religions, ages. We are all the same and bleed red. Spread love! 🤘🤘🤘🤘😂🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘.
Your parents are raising you right!
You GO GIRL!!!
Wish my brother was like you. He just listens to rap and pretends to be from the hood. He's whiter than me

Sitting hammered talking about life with my best friend listening to Metallica life is good

xD
really??
John vincent this is real music rap/hip hop fuck
Beastlygamer dude. You shouldn't even reply to comments like this. It's like, obvious it's a troll bot.
