Early composite airplane propellers were known to erode in rain, but this issue has been resolved for over 20 years. To protect composite propellers from rain and stone erosion, they are usually fitted with a plastic or metal strip on the leading edge. Thats what I could find online but I'm no pilot or know anything about this but was also very curious. :)
