- Clearing land with a cat D7 dozer, perhaps not the best tool for the job but it's getting the job done, sometimes you gotta use what's available to you. I think they decided to push the dirt and debris in piles or windrows towards the back and let it rot then spread the dirt back out.

I raked with a D6R earlier today on a 450+ acre shear job. In the morning, I’ll be headed to a different job to rake with a D6T. Ol’ D6T is a Cadillac.
IMO Cat makes the best dozers. We have several D6C’s (1960’s) and D6D’s (1970’s) that rake on shearing jobs all the time. It’s amazing to see such an old machine still run like a top and be strong as hell. Of course, good maintenance is key. Still, excellent machines.
I was with the 27th land clearing Roman plow teams 67 68. often I had the dozer blade on but also ran the Roman Plow, ticking off land minds with a D7E cat, the only reason the D7E Instead of a D9, they didn't have combination tractor lowbed set up in Vietnam,
the 10 came later. I hit 5 or more land minds with the Roman Plow, saved my life. although it wiped out the blade, if the tractor ticked off a mine or an RPG it was often over for the cat and the operator generally made it.
I cleared my 7 acres with a D7. Thats a machine hoss. 100’ pines were pushed over with ease. As far as stumps. I opted for a ripper attachment on the back, I’d lower that bad boy and come, chit or bleed it was coming out. My friends asked why I got a dozer that big, my answer was simple...the rental company didn’t have a D9.
The Rental ! Company !! Would Only ! Give !! People ! Like ! You!! A HAND !! SHOVEL !!!
Yeah that blade is for cutting the stumps off close to the ground. So you can make cow pastures that you're not going to plow. You just get the stumps out throw some grass seed down and let it go. if you look at a lot of powerline wires that comes through the woods those are the type of blades they use to clear that out they just cut the stumps off close to the ground and put the power line through then when it grows back up they can go through there with the tractors and Bush hogs and cut without having to run over stumps and stuff. I remember operating a d8 dozer with a blade like that. We just cut the stumps off and knock out a few trees and had another dozer like a six or a seven come through with root rake and you wouldn't even plow the ground you just raked up the stuff that you cut and knocked out with the shear blade. Push it up in a pile and like you said either burn it or just leave it to rot. It's a good blade depending on what you want to do. but it's nice to have another dozer there with a root break that way you just cut the stumps and shove the brush over the side and let the root rake roll it out and get the dirt out of it.
He is using a Rome k G blade an it's meant to shear the trees but usually leaves the roots an stumps in the ground its a quick clear fix procedure ,,they were usually used to clear right of ways for like power lines, an you can split trees with it but there pretty hard on the left side of the dozer a lot of stress on the left carriage an finial drive
7G those are a darn good tractor. Just keep at and you will learn from your mistakes. Everybody does things a wee bit different.
wow. most amount of time, least amount of work done. your fired
🌴I'm still running a 1968 Cat D7E,
winch, & Rome V Blade 😎👌🌴

It's like watching a drunk third grader try to color inside the lines. painful to watch
yep
Should adj depth to be about 2-3 inches lower on the left where the stinger is!!! The stinger is used to split stumps. Being used wrong

I ran a G model in 1975 I was 18 years old man that was a long time ago good dozer I ran kg blade then rake
Vietnam Soldiers used these a lot to clear jungle for roads. They called them Rome blades.
rome is the maker it is a KG Blade
@@pattonph1 Back in the 50's Ernest Kissner and Ed Greene from Lottie LA. built the first K/G blades then sold the patent rights to Rome.
I clear land with a D 7 G in South Central florida deal with palmettos here an oaks pines ,, he has a k g blade it's OK but I use a rake mounted on a c frame not a pin on rake on blade not much dirt that way then take a front end loader to pile an burn
They're used where there's trees....it's for splitting trees and stumps. Then you come through with the rake
Still clear land in Northern BC that way. Big V blade though. Wait for frozen ground and set it down and push. Still get dirt
I bet it would work a little better in frozen ground. It doesn't get that cold down south though. It seems pretty effective if you don't mind the dirt and can push it to a low spot to let all the brush rot.
Best way to learn is to simply do. Cool video.
Like ! ROBB !! THE !! BANK !!
That is definitely a 1975 the first year for the G. The only year the muffler stuck out the hood and I’m sorry but that isn’t even close to how that blade is supposed to be used. Just sayin.

Looks to be a good running machine, old reliable.
YOU'RE ! JUST ! DIGGING !! UP !! MORE !! SOIL !! THAN !! REMOVING !! UNDERGROWTH !! WITH !! IT !!!
Howdy, thats a D7G, around 1975-1978 vintage. The pins on the blade braces are getting pretty sloppy but if you tilt or extend the right brace it will take stumps out better and will push less dirt, you can also extend the left brace some to get the stinger in the ground better. For stacking with the blade flat keep rolling the brush and roots and the dirt will fall out. I use these K/G blades all the time, love em! best tool for clearing! My dad started in 62 clearing with them and I have been continuing to use them, I also have brush rakes for cleaning up. Here is a vid of my two older machines, I also have an 80 D7G. ua-cam.com/video/K4W5iUFZAS8/v-deo.html
This tree had wire in it and was no good for timber, I did save the rest for firewood. ua-cam.com/video/2CKSwImh7TY/v-deo.html
My other channel. This is my 7G with a later style K/G blade with the ball joint braces. ua-cam.com/video/04Kxk0DZdYI/v-deo.html
Cleaner is you keep the blade down in reverse from the first push
KG BLADE PERFECT FOR that kinda work with a root rake running behind it and hes a good operator
Root rake would be nice I'm sure.
Need a root Rake get down into the ground and strip the top and leave dirt behind
Hey Jack! 🥇 🏆 first place 🥇
haha😂
starting a video by asking a question to people who cant reply??? what sort of response do you expect??
Why can't they reply? Looks like you figured out how. 🤔
KG blade is ment for cutting Brush
Oh really? ua-cam.com/video/04Kxk0DZdYI/v-deo.html
I don't call that a clearing blade. That's just a dozer blade with a rack...... A clearing blade, such as I've used all over the pacific northwest, has a clearing rake attached to the dozer blade that digs out roots and brush, etc, therefore really clearing the ground.
Well that will work in sandy or rocky ground but not here in heavy clay ground, stumps are solid like concrete, my K/G blade splits them out and clean of dirt and are burnable, then we come through with a rake.

i might be mistaken chase but i think its a 88 model
I looked on Google and and I was thinking maybe 75-85 model ish based on what I saw but idk for sure either.
yes tomohawk blades are still used and root rake dozers come in after as well as excavators and grinders😎 im a heavy equipment welder and work on these machines often...great fun and loaded with toxic masculinity🤣🤣🤣!!!!
I knew how to operate but I need more more knowledge
fail
i would love to have that tin he was rolling up
I don't know what his plans for that tin was, I didn't ask I was just watching.
AND ! WHAT ! Would you do ! With the TIN !! THEN !!???
he is getting it done! that thing is heavy! sure makes light work of those stumps. what? you need me to move those thin sheets of tin? hold my beer while i get the d7.
Haha much faster that way lol
He SHOULD ! BE ! GETTING !! HIS !! HAND !! SHOVEL !! OUT !! AND !! USING !! THAT !!!
@@LifeWithChase I have been running Yellow things since 1968 . You need to watch pros work and try to copy. Not many left now
KG Blade was started in late 50s early 60s. Mostly were made / Named Rome KG Blade ... look them up

What a crock of bullshit ,, Why would you want to cut the trunk off and leave the stump in the ground ,,
As I stated in the video, it wasn't my rodeo. I just went to watch.
Well I dont, ua-cam.com/video/04Kxk0DZdYI/v-deo.html
You just bust the stump and then just get it up cleared hundreds of acres with one of them you ain't been doing this for very long have you
Pilling with a KG blade how dumb
