Duno not a big ice fishing guy, ever catch them during the summer? I’m on a lake with them and heard they are great fighters and your video proved that haha
@@mattachtemeier5296 I never have but I've never tried in the summer either. I imagine they are deep roamers so you'd really just have to target them only
Been a really tough winter in more ways than one but should be getting amped up here for late ice heading into spring. Hitting the ice (hopefully talk him out of the kayak) with NDYAKANGLER this weekend and see what next week brings after that!
I do have one smoker video on tullibees already, I did another one the day after but I'll see how the edit goes and see if I'm happy with it (used half bottle of brandy lol)
Might be my introverted a$$ but I hate when I am relaxing on the ice and someone pulls up and starts talking. It's like uh huh, uh huh, thanks for ruining my peace. I dont act like an a$$ because I know they mean no harm but on the inside I am like: 'go somewhere else please' lol.
To each their own -- honestly tullibee fishing is pretty laid back waiting for them to pass through deep water -- he didn't drill in and act like an ass or anything -- just a friendly guy to bs with and I'll take that every time out
Yeah everyone is different. I fish alone and love the solitude. I have had friends try to make fishing plans with me and I've lied and said I was busy just so I can go somewhere different where nobody else fishes. It's not a hate thing or anything like that, I just get anxious when I am trying to fish in peace and others pull up beside me. I am actually relieved when I hear a snowmachine and look outside my pop up shelter and it's a conservation officer lol. Because I know they will chat for 4 mins and be on their way.
So the tullibee action is slow, similar to trout? Just pass through every once in a while? I've never caught one, I want to try this on Saturday. I live in NW Ontario and tullibee fishing is pretty much unheard of. Even though most lakes have them.
@@mustangcarpenter Late ice in deep holes in the lake -- I think they are related to the trout/salmon and just keep roaming. They don't school like panfish/perch and sit there and hang around - they come in fast and furious -- up down 20-30 feet in the water column. Really fun fish to catch!
Late ice is usually best -- usually in Minnesota after they close pike/bass and walleye I'll move to tullibee. They are DEEP -- look at deep holes/pockets in lakes that have them. Helps to go with someone that has done it first as it can be a crap shoot but they are a ton of fun!
How do you guys try to get the lookers in to takers?

Nice to have you back fishing. Love the cameras reflection in the glasses. Hopefully you can get out fishing more.

That looks SUPER fun. You should do a vid on the cook (smoke) part... I wish we had Tullibees in Pennsylvania.....also safe ice. Great vid!

I'll give it a go this weekend!
Whatever you do don’t drop it back in 😂😂😂
Holy tullibee! How deep is that lake? Deepest ive caught them is 30ft. They sure are fun to catch.
Probably 40-60 there. I've caught them in 70fow water fishing a 110 foot hole before too!
Very interesting 🤔
How do you find them? Any structure to look for or are they just out in open deep water? Is there a best time thru the ice to fish them?

Wow those r big at 38 ft.
Those are GIANT for tullibees
Huge tullibee. I hear they have a strong odor
