My fingers aren't the biggest and ive been learning on a full sized guitar. There's really no excuses to be made, you just got to stay consistent and trust the process and things will start to fall into place.
Hi Brandon! I'm 49 years young from Cape Breton and decided to actually LEARN how to play my guitar... instead of looking at it on a stand. I just found your channel and was delighted to hear that you're a St.FXU music grad!!! My twin cousins are also and always played in a band. Love your channel Brandon
Being a previous dancer for five years and learning guitar about a month ago, already knowing tempo and rhythm has had a huge difference on my practicing
yeah, as someone who did dance for 13 and a half years, and did percussion in band back in middle school, my teacher was shocked to see how good i was at keeping rhythm at first
I don't just use my shoulder, I take the martial arts approach and put my whole body into it. The energy for each stroke comes all the way from my feet up through my calves, upper legs, hips, core, shoulders, arms, and wrist, down to the pic
Wow! You understand martial arts principles. You, "uniformed" martial arts thinking and musical practice. Great unifying of two seemingly disparate fields. Your commixture of the martial arts and music sets an ecological path of thought.🔄🎸
@@羅允駿 yes, i call it "unified music theory" but unfortunately no guitar string can last more than one song due to the sheer power of each pick stroke. sounds like you need a harder peice, try playing something by "the human abstract" try "vela we await the storm"... try and get it by ear its an awesome song and will probably be a bit challenging but not to bad
holy crap reading this comment was like looking into a mirror. i never fully learn a song because i learn the tabs of one part then get bored and find a harder one lol
Very nice scripted humor dude. A pet peeve of mine is how most tutorials end up droning on and on about why practicing “x” is supposed to be good for you,...we get it already or we wouldn’t have tuned in in the first place. So your penguins and miscued photos are a blessed change from that, bravo!
I'm a beginner and I bought my first guitar 1 month ago. I didn't know how to play anything, but I practiced all the exercises in the video and now I can play any Iron Maiden melody! (Only in the first week of training)
You talked about mistakes your students often make, which are mistakes im making but didn't go over how to correct those mistakes... I feel I now have to avert my attention to another video on how to correct those mistakes if I can find it.
Broooo I can already tell you would be an awesome teacher would love to learn from you I been playing about 7 years but stopped playing for like 3 and lost all muscle memory also trying to get faster at these hammer ons or Trills as you called them I’m fast but I’m trying to get to where you can’t see my fingers anymore lol so back to basics and finger work out love the nail clipper part 😂😂😂 I do that all the time. To be blunt I need to get faster and a lil better at reading the fretboard properly although I can’t read music I taught myself guitar by ear and tabs don’t know any chords or how to read music and if I want to get passed this hump I need to learn how to read music it would GREATLY HELP with my improvisation and knowing exactly where to go next.

I find the 'finger-anchoring' exercise to seem to be very effective, in theory - I haven't tried it, yet. In fact, I've never seen this exercise before. Makes good, sense, though.
I will be using some of these.... The alternate picking exercise that you started with is good. My favorite one was from Danny Gatton. He did it at the neck and used a 5 note alternate picking. So with the low E, you start with a down pick and with the A, you start it with an up pick. The Joe Satriani exercise I did see him comment on it. The point of it was to do it without the squeaky string noise from the wrapped strings. Still a good exercise. I am no good, and one of those who bought an electric guitar when the Beatles came out. I do have fun trying though.... Not enough hours in the day....
