    Real talk, you’re a big inspiration. I have a 3.4 GPA with a 20 ACT Score. I really want to pursue Civil Engineering, but I feel like I’m not going to survive. After hearing your story, I learn that anything is possible. Thank you. Thank you. 💯

    Hey bro, I know I'm super late to this video, and seems like to your channel, sadly. But I wanted to clear out a question: Considering my goal and passion is entrepreneurship and business, is Industrial Engineering the ideal option for me? I loved your videos in your channel and hope you come back, you explain everything perfectly!
    Bonus question: What do you think about the claim that industrial engineering is a business major on steroids?

    • @JDMaxton1999
      @JDMaxton1999 4 роки тому +3

      I'm not him, but IE is somewhat related to business in my opinion. But, you will do much much more than just economics and business! To me (now keep in mind the curriculum is slightly different), IE is all about the integration of several departments and factors in a business. You might be the one responsible to lead the way on improving work safety conditions, you'll be making sure that communication is strong between departments, you will work on and lead projects involving the work that occurs at a specific station in your facility, you create a process that allows data for crucial-to-quality characteristics of a product to be collected in regular intervals so that it can be verified that the production system is not producing defective parts (within some statistical level of certainty), etc. There is much much more than this but I dont want to write too long of a comment.
      IE is probably one of the more diverse engineering fields. Many people consider it to be "efficiency engineering" and it is. What that means is you are concerned with how each part of the organization runs and connects with each other. You want this to be smooth. You also are looking at the work that employees do and finding ways to improve that work for the benefit of the employee but also the company. You are in a lot of ways a "middle man" between the other engineers, the employees and the managers.
      Another way to define IE is the "waste reducers" of engineering
      I'm sorry I know I went on a rant. I hope I'm not making things more confusing or complicated! This is just my opinion based on experience and schooling. I'm a senior IE student at Wichita State with about a year experience in aerospace

      @JDMaxton1999 4 роки тому +2

      Having said all that, I'd say since IE includes a lot of management level decisions, it is probably a good choice if your passions are business and entrepreneurial things.
      But it is totally up to you!!!! Good luck either way!

      One of the best definition of IE I've ever heard is something like this
      "Industrial Engineering is like a beautiful symphony. If everything works right, everything comes right on time.
      The warehouse does not have to keep extra inventory because they have just enough for the demand. Thus, little money is spent on keeping the extra stuff in the warehouse. Next, the new shipment to the warehouse comes just in time for the new orders. Next, the workers have just enough time to complete their work before the next job becomes available. Finally, the whole facility has little waste. All other aspects are as beautiful and methodical as the symphony is"
      The comparison of IE to an orchestra is the best thing I can give you

      @@JDMaxton1999 Your 3 comments are by far the best information I have received about IE. Firstly, thank you so much for taking the time to explain this. Secondly, congrats on almost finishing your major. I consider your comments to be really helpful, and if you would like to provide more information, I love to read your clear explanations. Again, thanks. I decided to change major in a radical way, from law to IE. I took that decision because I figured the best path I can take to achieve my goals at this moment, is studying IE. It's so important for the CEO of a company to have IE knowledges. I hope you have an awesome senior year and achieve your goals. I would love to connect more with you if you'd like, to talk about our career. I live in Central America (latino) and I'm only 18 years old, so I still have a lot of years ahead of exciting studies in my IE major.

      Is there a social media that works best? You can DM it to me if that's better. I'm from Wichita, KS in the US. Glad to meet ya on here!
      Truth be told IE is very broad and the best way to understand it is going to school to be an IE lol.

      Hey, if you mean universities then I’m also interested in industrial engineering in Netherlands!
      I have done some research and my top two for IE are HZ university of applied sciences and University of Groningen. If you are considering ranks then Groningen is higher in the ranking than HZ but personally I am leaning more towards HZ because of the course content itself and the internships included in the course.
      Haha I’m not Kyle but hopefully that helped you a bit :D

    Okay so I am I senior in high school in WV and am thinking about going to WVU for electrical engineering but I want to do 1 year local at wv state. Would that still work and keeping me on track to carry over into sophomore year at WVU

    • @KyleGillis
      @KyleGillis  5 років тому

      Yes, yes, and yes! Heres what you want to do though. I'm pretty sure we have a partnership with WV State of some sort, but you want to call WVU and talk to them about making sure your classes will transfer because there are certain things you need to make sure you do. But if you clear it up ahead of time it prevents a lot of headaches. A lot of people do this.
