It doesn’t matter what people thought of Mickey Rooney. He was a devoted and true actor, as were the other actors of his generation. He did whatever it took to make a living. Might’ve said things here and there he shouldn’t have, but he left this world nearly broke. Yet, he kept his integrity and dignity.

Mick was using her, it's sad you can't see that. Ol Mick used to brag about bedding younger attractive women and specifically that he was "going to fuck them in the brown" lmao.

See, now Dave likely thought this segment bombed. I found it hysterical. When Paul said "Leave me outta this." So great.

I know Mickey was married to Jan, but, his best friend was the best singer in the world I think her name is Judy. Mickey was the most egotistical person I ever seen. He and Judy were complete opposites when it came to ego's. Mickey's career started to nose dive after he was top box office for I believe the 3rd consecutive year. His reputation with women was not appreciated by the Moms and Dads of the World, so his box office started to decline, and Judy's was rising fast. It didn't take long before Judy past him, for good. Mickey was one of the all-time talents that ever stepped in front of the camera, as was Judy. Judy was one of those very few performer's that had that something extra that ELLEN TERRY USE TO TALK ABOUT.

Who sits on her husband's lap on a talk show and thinks that's proper etiquette? No class in plugging her record and interfering with his interview. I think Mr. Letterman was appalled. Gold digger was the first thought in my mind. I feel bad for Mr. Rooney in this episode of his life. May he rest in peace.

Mickey pissed away all his money because he suffered from a gambling addiction. He filed for bankruptcy 3 times in his life. The first being in the 50s. Mickey was also an ego maniac. He couldn't get work in Hollywood movies after the war because he was difficult to work with. When the studio system collapsed Mickey was out of luck

So that is the infamous Jan when she was younger. It is obvious she was ambitious and trying to get her career promote at every step. As for the allegations of senior abuse, I chalk it up to family squabbles over a disappearing inheritance. Rooney seems to have had a touch of dementia in his later years, and from experience with a parent who had dementia (also from watching Rooney's reality show) they can dish out verbal abuse but not take any response to it. I'll give her credit for putting up with him far longer than any of his other wives.
