- Spitfire TE184 flown by Polish pilot came to Poland on June 23, to Rudniki near Częstochowa. After refueling, pilot Jacek Mainka took off to Dęblin. On June 24-25, TE184 changed its colours to Polish: ZF-U, piloted among other things by Jerzy Główczewski from wing 308. The plane flew to Lublin on June 27, early morning. On its way, there was a photo session with "Orliki" - photo Adam Ginalski. This day ended in Cracow - in the 8th Base of Transport Aviation. On June 28-29, the Spitfire participated in 10th Małopolski Picnic - where it was flown by its owner Stephen Stead and Jacek Mainka - on Sunday, July 13, air show was organized in Piotrków Trybunalski within the scope of Fly Fest 2014. On July 26, TE184 piloted by Stephen Stead flew for Mrs. Jadwiga Piłsudska-Jaraczewska, over the her summer cabin. On August 3, a meeting was held before the AMC Hangar on Modlin airport. Jacek Mainka performed a “farewell fly” in colours ZF-U - since the next day, it became Czech DU-N again. On August 8, owner took the TE184 to Czech Republic. This was the end of this extraordinary project of Jacek Mainka, the arrival of Spitfire with Polish pilot to Poland, for the first time since the end of WW II.
On the web site of Jacek Mainka - owner of a few flying historical aircraft (www.tigermoth.pl), a captain of Airbus A320, you will find information about his passions and projects related to flying historical aircraft.
Dziekujemy.
Koniec deptania narodu Polskiego!
To były dywizjony w ramach RAF. Z resztą można się prawie zgodzić
I was under the impression that a number of spitfires were returned to Poland immediately after the war, but were scrapped by the pro soviet government.... At this time, there was much surplus military equipment that nobody wanted. The Polish Airforce was equipping itself with soviet designs.

Piękne dokonanie. Pozdrawiam serdecznie .
can I use it on my lessons?
Of course :)
We should have a campaign to donate Spitfires from Britain to the Poles and Czechs. The history is a disgrace, some of it an understandable disgrace, but we should at least do this small thing to make up for it.

czemu czeski poszedl?
I am happy that this Spitfire landed on Polish soil, but I have one question. Why on earth it has Czech's markings on?
I think it because of all registration costs, concessions ad crap like that.I'm not an expert but as far as i know many polish private planes are registered in the Czech Republic. Also getting a pilot licence is cheaper too than in Poland. But I might be wrong in this case ;).
Była siła...

Britain had the good fortune to be an island, Poland had the misfortune to be the meat in a Russo/German sandwich. Outcomes for both nations were a function of that unavoidable, geopolitical reality. Yes, Poland suffered horribly, first under the Nazis and then communism, but what would you have had have us do about it? Send in the Grenadier Guards? It is naive beyond reason to suppose that a maritime, island power like Britain, could have possessed the scale of land forces that would have enabled it to roll across Europe and defeat the giant mechanised armies of Hitler and Stalin in their own back yard. If Poles want someone to blame for their misfortune, try the Germans and the Russians, not your allies.
P.S. you're welcome to the Spitfire.
liar liarliar with allies like you...we don’t need enemies. Double betray and taking27 rond of Polish gold reserves stored in UK and Canada as payment for fighters, fuel, parts, ammo, uniforms from people who defended you ...was the lowest thing what you could do.. and you did the lowest things. Poles defended you and paid for it...not only with their blood and death. You even didn’t invite Poles to the victory parade..even Poles were 3rd in numbers western allies...which broke Enigma code, invented rotary tank periscope, mine detector, walkie talkie...liberated defended France, UK and Norway..liberated part of France , almost whole Belgium and Netherlands... captured maine base of kriegsmarine in Vilhelmshaven and captured Berlin in cooperation with soviets. Some black people which contributed some kn fight with japanese from ultra tiny islands on Pacific ocean were on parade .but not the Poles. Please go away from here.
Mate if you knew history you would know that UK & France promised to attach Ruhr, then the centre of German military industry. Ruhr is 75 km from the French border and it was undefended. If you don't believe me google the Saar offensive. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Saar_Offensive. UK refused to participate.. If you have kept your promises the WW2 would end in 4 weeks, Russia would not attack Poland..Sorry mate, you have a bill to pay..1500 planes belonged to Poland and was paid for..You took the gold and refused to deliver..lol
@Mark Hepworth Ehh? I'm talking about 1939, 1 year before Dunkirk..Get your dates straight mate..The Anglo French army was close to 4 M men strong..And fought the Phoney War for 8 Months before Germany attacked..
@Mark Hepworth 515, 678..MATE

a nasz PZL 37 Los?
Zamiast wdzięcznych brytyjskich pilotów nad warszawą w 1946 dostaliśmy lot yaków.

Polski Spitfire znaleziony na podwórku w Anglii. Numery boczne ZZF . Polska szachownica. Czy za wkład w bitwie o Anglię nie należy nam się chociaż część histori ?
Śp. Stanisław Skalski byłby dumny.

Napisz to do brytyjskich weteranów.
the poles had some good fighters but they did not obey orders
Lee Wainwright Only the silly ones.
+Lee Wainwright The best guy in Battle of Britain - polish fighter Witold Urbanowicz - 15-0-1 over England in 14 contacts with enemy!!!!, 11 (officially 2) over China - NEVER shot down, NEEEVER even hit!
still needed a spitfire to do it in son
+Lee Wainwright and England was sale Poland for Stalin.... and English was join Free Corps... English Waffen SS !
Lee Wainwright What you mean? Britain didn't obey military agreement in 1939, because didn't come help Poland. We fought with Germans and Soviet lonely.
Obydwa teksty dostępne w sieci w polskiej i angielskiej wersji.
