Truth. I have been playing music for over 40 years. It took me 10 years to believe I was good and playing became effortless. Music slowed down to where I no longer saw just the notes, I saw the gaps between them both in pitch and time. It was at that point that playing became a dance. It was an amazing revelation. I believe I will get there with trading. It will take time. It will take commitment. It will have challenges. There will be pain (I remember my fingers bleeding I played my guitar so much). It will have successes. Probably in that order.
Im a musician too and the learning curve is the same, the only diference is that you dont get charge per mistakes in music, but, that could be an advantage because you could learn even faster in trading….just correct mistakes every trade, even the ones that are wins can be optimized, as long as you traded small lot size so not to blow your capital your good to go. Just keep at it and learn to embrace being uncomfortable

I’m somewhat decent at playing Chess, not a master but decent, have played over 100 thousand games online (yes, 100,000) and I find trading to be very similar. Oliver I agree with you totally. My way to look at it is, when you really get into something, you have to dig in deep and tinker and tinker with it, until you obtain some clarity, and you know you know something.
Mr. Oliver is absolutely right. One needed a lot of practice to gain exposures to the different angles of trading. This is my way of learning. If I may, one doesn't need to know all the rules either to have the chance to be successful, but keeping the major ones would be enough. The biggest challenge to me is DISCIPLINE. I'm turning around gradually, but not quite there yet... This is my demon that I needed to overcome, and hopefully sometime soon. Persistence and ability to persevere are another characteristics or MINDSET I needed to have to overcome my weakness to achieving discipline.

Hard work and perseverance.In my twenties,I badly wanted to be a stock and forex trader.I can"t find a tutor in the seventies.No Internet.And I was busy as hell in my work.Now,the Internet came.So thrilled I plunged straight to learning how to trade.And in my first three months of demo,I tripled my demo account of $50,000 into more than 150k.I said this is easy.I went live and in my first 3 years blew my account 3 times.I went bust 3 times.No kidding.Discipline to adhere to the rules is the most difficult to master.And you can't learn it without the pain.
I agree but also there are people that tent to grasp things a lot faster than others cause there experience process that you must go through a bit shorter. Cause I been at this every week getting my hands dirty from the day I started. Sleepless night frustrating days, agree days depressive days, i nearly thought i was doomed cause every one including my mom would say you need to starting looking for a job again. Well I have have my mind up permanently. I see hope through countles trades,majority of losing trades and really small profits on winning trades that wouldn't even cover my loses. I started trading the second 2min bar at the open and it felt great when momentum continued. THEN I got cocky and started with 2 and 3 lots and got maxed out within seconds. Aaah I needed that experience. Now no more until I have more experience and the knowing to do two lots.
My losses have humbled me to understand and accept this truth. Now I'm more than okay with losing trades, because I know what winning trades feel like.

I am listening closely and this is really my life now after I been introduced to trading by a trucker whom had exposed his accounts to me for proof he was telling the true.. that's in 2010. I ignored it kept working my day time job cause I thought this was all a joke for a long time till a year ago wife friend introduced her to currency's. She said it was now my calling. There has also been other times through out when few selected people would ask me why dont I get into trading stocks. So I been lost for a long time.
The experience is the key, no matter whatever trader has, in chart visuals one can see uptrend or downtrend mostly, but the spiking of heartbeats and tension on the nerves from every candle is not visible in chart, that's hidden in experience. Thanks Oliver Sir, in reiterating this point.

The problem is that retail traders keeps changing their plans often and keep switching from one plan/system to another when minor loss happens. Also they are in search of the perfect plan, strategy, perfect high/lows etc, but the reality is that no one incl the smart money can ever achieve perfection in the markets.
It's been 11 months of me looking lazy in other people's eye. Now I can really keep my mouth seal and let the hard work and DETERMINATION speak...Cause I know it is true.. All I'm looking forward to is consistancy in doing the right thing when trading at all times. It's ok to lose a trade not the money... that's the reason I try and keep my loses small.
