  • Today I went to Vietnam's Largest Floating Market. Its Called Cái Răng Floating Market and it's located in Can Tho Vietnam, and pondered whether these floating markets should be allowed to live or die.

    Cai Rang floating market is one of the oldest cultural practices in the Mekong Delta. It actually represents the unique and beautiful tradition of the Vietnamese, especially in the southern part.

    Thanks for this video, yes they should definitely be preserved. It’s a Vietnamese tradition in the Mekong Delta. It’s history to this province. I will be in Can Tho in 2 weeks, looking forward to it.

    You should try the Cai Rang floating market noodle soup that had won famous chef Gordon Ramsay's heart.

    it's nice to have choices where we come from. in the US, if you have a boat...you have extra money. over there, if you live on a boat...you are not even dirt poor. thanks for the vid.

    You should include a timeline to your video and also a map showing your trip progress kinda thing.

    This should be preserved. Yes, progress is great but sometimes, trademarks and traditions like these should be maintained. If someday, it's totally gone, maybe they can throw a festival or special occasion to remember it. I hate it when good things are over. lol

    Floating markets are all about the experience. Unfortunately times have changed and better paying jobs are gravitating toward the big cities. Wish I can go back in time 20-30 years ago and experience real-life bustling floating markets and other local villages experiences as well.

  • @bumble144

    It’s cool but it doesn’t make any sense to haul a big boat to sell one item one at a time when a stall on the market is more efficient. Hence they mostly do wholesale.

    • @phanduc3365
      @phanduc3365 2 роки тому

      it more of a wholesale floating market, where people trade there good in larger quantity. The river system is lager in mekong delta so that mean one seller can buy stuff and fruits from big cities like Can Tho in the video and brings to the most of the small village in the mekong delta because they don't have a big road for truck to get there but river do . Since it is a tourist attraction, people can sell stuff for tourists and people who live on the boat to buy it. It famous for tourist because of the small vendor that sell food .

    *The South is not invested by the communist government, most of the Vietnamese economy has always relied on the South. hmmm, the money the South makes is focused on developing in the North. after 1975, proving that the North did not keep its promise to help the South develop better than during the Republic of Vietnam.*
