  • Today I’m going to show you how easy it is to add another Google Wifi Access Point to your existing Google Mesh Wifi setup. In a previous video I setup a Google Wifi 3 Pack in my 2 storey home.
Check out that video here: Google WiFi - Setup and Testing In a Two Story Home

I have been looking at so many just trying to get one that would help me add the exact device to my google nest router, and your video was the only one that walked me through using Google Wifi App. This made it all so easy and simple, I wish this one would have been the first video to populate when I searched this topic.

How far away were from the main modem? I have lath & plaster walls, and a long bend in a hallway to the Master Bedroom. The best I get on that WiFi point is “ok”,but that’s in the evenings when I need it to monitor my security cameras - I know that’s streaming busy time, but like now, at 10am is shows “Great” but the green line is not all the way like my other WiFi point. I’m thinking an additional WiFi point could go in the bedroom in the middle of the hallway? The other Wifi point is great at RSSI-26 because its right across from the WiFi point, but only 22ft through the garage door, that camera is RSSI-58

Hi, I don't have Google Mesh WiFi but a system based on the router provided by ISP. Mesh WiFi is the way to go for anyone wishing to guarantee good coverage throughout the whole house. I find that though the Mesh WiFi system is supposed to provide respectable consistent speeds throughout by device auto transfer from one access point to the next but sometimes devices are slow to move from one point to another resulting in a dropoff in speed. Even though this dropoff is not supposed to happen, I reboot the WiFi on my device when I'm near the point I want to connect to & for me this can result in a speed increase of 50% in some cases. Hope this might help anyone having issues with their Mesh WiFi network.

Does the Wifi point I am trying to add, need to "see" (be in range) to the Main Google Wifi Router point? I am trying to add 2 points to the basement. There is currently only one Wifi Point in the basement, and it is positioned at the ONLY location where it can "see" the main Google Wifi Router (on the ground floor).. So, I am trying to add 2 more points in different basement rooms.. I can not add them to the existing Google Mesh network, as Setup tells me that they are too far away from the Google Wifi Router..

I have the Google Nest Wifi. The issue we're having is my wife's HP laptop internet drops occasionally. The laptop has a 2.4ghz wifi card only. Google's Nest Wifi broadcasts at both 2.4ghz and 5ghz and having both broadcasts seems to be causing her laptop to drop occasionally. Is there a way to create a separate access point for a 2.4ghz only? Please let me know the best way to fix this issue.
