They give their review of the documentary as well as Hawk shares some insight into Manziel's time in Cleveland and things he saw behind the scenes with the Browns.

Glad to see Andrew Hawkins doing well. I saw Johnny's first training camp. Andrew impressed me at practice, especially catching punts.

The doc didn't interview any teammates which was annoying, but this helps make up for that. Great insight

Johnny’s rise was in an interesting place in time - he couldn’t legally capitalize on his name, image and likeness back then, while social media was taking off.. this was when Twitter and IG were taking off and news traveled faster than ever, so there was no way they could keep the off field shenanigans under wraps like they probably have with other players in the past.. he catapulted collegiate players becoming “famous” beyond the casual football fans.. whether you followed college football or not, you knew who Johnny Manziel was.. A&M made around 700 million in revenue after Johnny’s first year.. He would’ve made sooo much money if the NIL existed back then. What an interesting life he’s lived.. and still so young at that. Hope he finds his happiness and calling

The Johnny Manziel experience for me was one of the best five high school football players I have ever scouted, and the documentary just confirmed the worst kept secret in south Texas that Manziel had off-the-field issues that for some reason nobody has dug far enough to find yet.
There's no way they didn't know. Kid could just flat-out ball. You know how it is as a fb player. And he beat bama! Sky was the limit

Fran Tarkenton is in the Pro Football Hall of Fame, which was the original white mobile quarterback.
Eh.. I wouldn't say that. Roger Staubach. Manning. Ken Stabler. Otto Graham. White Mobile qbs have always been around. They just weren't stigmatized for being mobile. In all honesty it racism why there's even the so called "conventional " or "Mobile" qb. It's basically code words for black. Not necessarily how qbs play. Because plenty of white qbs were Mobile. Shit ken Stabler was an option qb at Alabama. So was Manning at old miss. So was Staubach at navy. None of those qbs ever got dinged for being athletic or running. They only did it to the black qbs. Which is why the labels are even a thing in the first place.

@anthonygraham8122 I totally agree with the point you're making, but the OP's point that Tarkenton was the "original white mobile quarterback" is accurate also. All the QBs you listed came into the league after Tarkenton, except Otto Graham.
@jesseluff1 eh, not really. My point was being mobile wasn't a thing because most qbs did it. Bart Starr, Joe Kapp. They were before tarkenton. It's not about who came before or after. Pretty much most of the white qbs were Mobile. It'd be like saying Jerry Rice was the original black wr technician on routes. That's not true because most black wrs are/were route technicians before and after Jerry Rice. My point is Fran tarkenton wasn't the original because most of the qbs back then did run. It just wasn't talked about seen in a negative way.

Attitude #1, he was overconfident and thought his pure talent would suffice. Problem is that college level shit dont always translate in the NFL. #2 size matters. when everyone else on the field is not only bigger but also just as fast as you are, they are gonna catch you and crush you.
Size and athleticism was never his problem though. He was an alcoholic and drug addict that was his problem

I never understood why scouts pumped him up. The dude was BARELY 5'8". He wasnt 6' like they were saying. I met him. Im 6'1 and felt like a giant next to him. He weighed 160....maybe. He was tiny. Not an athletic bone in his body.

It's hard to single out his biggest issue in terms of translating his game to the NFL, but one of them is that his famous escapability at the college level just turned into sacks and small gains in the NFL. He just wasn't quick enough

I remember little football Johnny trying to beat the panthers all pro LB Kuechly to the corner. Yea he ended up getting destroyed for a big loss. After that I knew he was low quality low iq.
