The last 3 months or so have been the longest stretch of my life in the last 14 years where I’ve felt like happiness was something achievable, if impermanent. I lost my dad to cancer in 2014, after being homeless with him and eventually making it into a subsidized apartment where I could properly look after him. Ever since I’ve really just been treading water, trying to find solid ground to land on, repeatedly burning out and facing heartbreak and wasting so much goddamned time. I found a fool’s hope somewhere in me this year, and made it hard as a rock. I know nothing is forever-not love, not hope, not motivation, not joy. But neither are despair, grief, disillusionment, alienation. In the people who love us, and the love within ourselves, can be found the tools to our salvation. For me, happiness isn’t an end goal or any kind of destination; only a link in the chain. I’m starting to believe I have it in me to keep pulling, knowing it’s gonna get harder again. I’m learning how to let down my walls, so I can show up for the people who’ve always shown up for me. I want that more than anything. I found your songs about a week before you made this channel, and I’ve been listening near daily ever since. Many have been downright anthems for me, and Patchwork is easily my 2024 AotY. I don’t know you at all. But I’m starting to know me, and that person heard those songs when they needed them. To laugh, to cry, to cope, to empathize. To know a better world is possible through communication, community, and collective action. To remember we’re not alone out here. Thanks, Jesse. And if anybody actually read this far, I’m amazed. I hope you find what you’re looking for. I hope you make it where you need to be going. I hope you vote today. I hope you find a reason to stick around. Tell someone you love them. Free Palestine.
man, what a story u have! thank you for sharing and I want to say that I disagree with u on Palestine but I refuse to hate anyone over their beliefs and I’m glad that we can all come together and just enjoy music. Anyways much love brother, keep going!!
I felt every word. Finding Jesse's music has been one of the few good things that has happened to me this year. My wife of 33 years passed away in June. A month later I lost my dog to cancer. A week after that my son went to jail. Shortly after that I found Jesse's songs. They have given me a little bit of light in an otherwise dark time. I believe that if we just keep doing the right thing everyday, it will be OK- not necessarily great, but OK.
Wow, True Talent is so rare these days, I am thoroughly impressed with Jesse's ability to write songs, I don't think he's capable of writing a bad song. Talk about born to do something!
True talent is not really that rare these days. There are many talented musicians that we don't get a chance to hear. We get pushed the music that's making industry executives $. When we look for, or happen upon, people like Welles it's a gift, for sure. #welles for the algorithm 😊 Also, support your local musicians, & artists. Support your local live venues. There are very few things in life that you can be certain of. However, there is one thing that I am supremely certain of - that Jessie Welles is a phenomenal poet, singer and songwriter. Thanks, Jesse. ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
It must be an amazing feeling to discover who you really are deep down inside and find your true purpose in life. Thank you for taking us on this journey with you.
Jesse, you are singing to my heart today. Thank you for sharing your wonderful art with the world. The universe is speaking through you in big ways. Sending positive energy and love to you and your blue bird.
Thank you, Jesse! For what it’s worth, I think you’re one of the most talented songwriters I have ever heard, and a damned fine musician as well! All the best from Canada!
I'm going through a hard breakup right now, and these songs Jesse has been producing have been really healing for me,to be honest autumn saved me from jumping. I wonder if he's been the same space with these lyrics. Either way I can't show the appreciation I have for the candidness of his lyricism enough. Thanks man. We all love you.
i love this so much and felt it too… you just bleed music, Jesse - such raw feeling and humanness that i rarely see elsewhere. your beautiful songs are helping me trudge through some hell, thank you
What're the chances you take a handful of these songs, transfer them into a music holding object, preferably disc shaped, put a pretty picture on it and let me give you money for one?
@@72marshflower15I have no idea why you made that comment. I don’t believe in anything much. But the idea of the holy grail, the mythological (?) concept of searching for something, well I don’t think I’ve ever heard it expressed so beautifully. Thank you.
Great stuff. Yeah I hear young Dylan but I also hear some Jeff Tweedy of Wilco in there amongst other stuff. All through Jesse's own personal ringer. Very soulful but with a wry humour under it all. Second song of his I've heard and I've dug both so far. 👍
@ my heart is so filled with sadness but I continue to put on a brave face. No matter the outcome, my world will never be the same. Every day I wake with a plan to count it as a blessing and every day I go to bed exhausted from the fake joy I carry to be strong for her.

Masterpiece ! "not naïve, but I'm not jaded"
For real. What a line
I keep watching and listening to Jesse everyday, he’s a truth teller and a wordsmith and a poetry man, and I love him ❤ forever
Definitely moving from Autumn to Winter. I’ve throughly enjoyed watching the scenery whilst listening to the music. Thank you !
Just found this guy and man, best music I have heard in a LOOOONG time now. Actually has some meaning and soul. Love it.
He's found the magic that Bob found, of accessing the subconscious in his writing and flowing, to create these unique and beautiful songs. Amazing
Amazing lyrics… thanks for a nice reset in the middle of todays madness
Godspeed Jesse… You are the Jesse James of music in 2024, a rebel soul in a world gone crazy
Beautiful, reflective song for a long, hard day in the USofA.
This is one of the great ones.
And perfect with that lovely 'hog Martin.
This guy literally saved my life today. What a beautiful talent.
You sound like the best love song I never wrote in my head 🙏
Thanks, I needed to hear a good tune today. This was perfect.
You're a treasure, Jesse. Keep on! A working musician for 40+ yrs here
Good tune man, love your writing. Those mahogany Martins sound so nice.
Sending love from Canada. Have your shit on repeat. Keep it up man. Love it.
Canadian here too, can't stop listening to him! He's fantastic
Fellow Canadian listening on repeat ❤
The harder I listened the more this song grew on me…it’s how he sings it, can hear his heart.
God damn this is good.
This is a good one! Among lots of good ones. 😊
Another instant classic - Thanks Jesse!! As someone in recovery and slowly putting my life back together - this one really spoke to me - thanks!!
Jesse we need your songs...more than ever, sing it son, you are appreciated and loved, much respect
Sounds like something Steve Earle would write, excellent 👍👌
Thank you for sharing your music. And "Thank you" is not enough, but it's all I have since your shows are sold out. Maybe the next go 'round.
Love the hook on this as much as the poetry
Jesse post = good day

That's why every day is a good day for the past year 😆 bro is on the ball with new releases. The best!
Jesse’s got fantastic strumming patterns and accentuation.
I was gonna say the same, the flow in that strumming hand is a thing of beauty

Captivating, powerful song, and the new guitar brings out the best.
Great storytelling, fact or fiction matters not, hard won likely, line by line, truth ringing clear. Congrats on another fine song.
man this guy always makes such moving music, truly inspiring
Some more good music. Love that my music taste is getting more specific. Your songs got the best vibes. Much love. Your biggest fan from michigan 💪

I think this one could legitimately be a big crossover, mainstream hit.
Our new Bob Dylan, but better. Love this. The forest really brings it home.
glad you got clean. Seems like that happened and that you had an awakening. Thank you for not dying.
Exquisitely written and poignantly beautiful! 🙏🏼🌸
Another BOSS tune! Do you never rest?

Just watched this with my 4yr old daughter and she said “he’s really good at this!”.
The leaves have fallen and Jesse's lyrics are forever crawlin....round my brain🤔🤔

Alas, the season is changing but Jesse constantly puts out awesomeness that he makes look so easy to do. Much love to you and yours.
This song is a masterpiece.

Another drink from the welles. Thank ya kindly
Waiting for this one on Spotify. For me this is easily top 3 of the many great songs you've released in the last few months. Thank you!
I feel I know more about you now. Thanks for giving us this peek, those are strong lyrics
This is the energy of the winning losers. There’s a lot of that in the air right now. Thank you.
I love your voice! Can’t wait to see this on music streaming platforms. I would love to make a playlist of your songs.
They just get better and better
Jesse for president of eardrums

Good song Jesse. Really catching.
That's one hell of a voice you've got Mr. Welles. Happy I stumbled into this.
OK… After listening to this for the past three days hundreds of times I think it’s in my top five Jesse Welles
Brilliant.

The audio is fantastic on this one
Wizard, you make me cry so often. I love you.
Much love!
Damn... I'm so jealous of how prolific Jesse is. I think I've written about 10 songs over about 20 years. This kid is so good.
10 songs that make the world richer
All you have to do is ask AI to construct some songs for you. Then you will know how it is to be prolific in today's world.
I don't think AI would recommend Jesus in the lyrics, i could be wrong but if I were a betting man, I'd say it wouldn't....@@mo7461

May the beauty not be lost, just broken pieces, collected in the thoughts of all the Damned.
Much love, Man. Keep on keeping on.
I wish I could write like him. I could put into words how it feels as watch my mother fight cancer 😢
Hang in there. Speaking as a mom who has fought that fight. We have some mighty good people on our side. 😊

God bless you Jesse! It's going to take what it takes
Ahh love this one! Love the pre chorus ❤
Thank you for existing 💖
Hey. I think this is my favorite one yet.
I don't often listen to a song twice in a row.
If it takes forever. ~ I'm in. ❤
I have not even finished listening thank you Jesse
I love the political songs but love songs are the meat in life's sandwich. Thank you, Jesse.
Why fight for what’s right if you don’t have something you love to fight for? Meat in the sandwhich is a perfect metaphor.
Even Tom Petty (RIP) is proud of you and what makes you real for yourself. Whew.
I'm gonna be in Durham NC February ❤
Will he be there too??
We absolutely love your music & You are so underrated !!! 💯 ❤️
