Magnifique interprétation de Ryan MacEvoy McCullough (USA) de Toccata, Choral et Fugue. Enregistré pour le label Acte Préalable (Varsovie). Editions Concertino. Mail : EdConcertino@aol.com
Hey! I studied with Ryan at Cornell! He was a great teacher and superb pianist. He could sight read almost anything, yeah he briefly introduced and told me about this composer in one of my lessons. Thanks for sharing.
@@qiyuehe5752 He passed away so shortly ago that I forget he has "eras" to his music. I still need to listen to more of his extensive oeuvre. I've heard most of his Concerti at least.
@@nicholas72611 He lived to be 88 and composed til his death so there's quite a wide range of eras haha. I got to know Rautavaara from his first piano concerto which you probably know is a very "dramatic" piece, so when I started listening to things like his 3rd piano concerto and Autumn Garden I was like "wow this is different".
This is wonderful composing. I can see why Magin is so highly regarded. This music is new to me but is so interesting I am set on hearing more. The performance is excellent.
It's a lot easier than it sounds. Fits extremely naturally into the fingers if you can reach the large intervals in the chorale, and the alternation between hands in the toccata reduces the need to pass the thumb under (which is difficult in fast tempi)

I love when I learn about a new-to-me composer. Thx for posting this.
Curiosity brought me here. Fascination kept me here.
Ugh
Reminds me of Rautavaara.
Both very enjoyable and technically difficult.
Yes, I hear Rautavaara in the Toccata! The rhythmic 4/4, the sprawling polytonal arpeggios with fifths in the left hand. Very nice stuff
Haha I just said that out loud, and a second after saw your comment
The angsty Rautavaara from the 50s and 60s do sound like this. Later Rautavaara is much more lyrical.

This is a wonderful piece! What a great change between sections. Very exciting!
Thank you for continually posting such fascinating music that I would probably never hear otherwise!
I'm happy that youtube recommends me to watch this
Magnifica composizione ed esecuzione!

Wow man. His style is remarkable unique. The tocatta is my jam
It sounds like a war between insects
Beautiful piece!
Interesting piece
Never heard of this composer, interesting. Very difficult to play.
Yes...Brilliant complex....must be a bitch t'play. BRAVO from San Agustinillo!

Milosz Magin has written many works, less difficult !
WOW!
Stupendous
When was this composed?
1955
1955
Das ist was ! Klassisch und up to Date
Extremely difficult piece
A hidden jewel 💎
0:30 sounds sort of like Prokofiev’s 6th piano sonata, 4th mvmt
Interesting discovery!
Bellissimo...esecuzione e musica.
This is so Ravel-like.
Are there any lyrics to this?
If you actually manage to sing any of this i think any lyrics will do
It sounds like ravel!!
Sounds like Ravel, Debussy, Scriabin, Messiaen, Stanchinsky, Prokofiev, Ligeti... None of them would have written the whole piece though.
