We continue our exploration of the early Bardic Schools of Ireland this evening, with a specific focus on the fili and bards, the chief of the ancient poets. Theirs was a very special (almost elite) profession in early medieval Ireland, drawing on sources and resources that were centuries old. They were able to recite vasts amount of material from heart.

I love listening. Quite frankly I am on my own, and at 81 I must also work. So, at this time I am unable to become a patron, as much as I would love too.Thank you for reading, commenting and engaging. Living in the US these days is fraught with misinformation and fearmongering. Your show is a respite for my weary soul. I've traveled to Ireland 4 or 5 times between 2014 and 2016. I had hoped to move to Westport. In reality my then 10 year old Silky Terrier would not have feared well for such a move. I've now a Scottie rescue boy, he might be able, however funds have dried. I am a poet, I have a new collection out :"A Mouthful of Hardship and Honey" Hedgehog press, UK. I am especially intrigued by this episode. I am prattling now, so good night from the Bay Area.
