Hello . Just got invited for a week on a yacht in the Whitsundays, out of Airlie. I'm a bass fisherman, and have no heavy gear. Hoping that you can help in recommending a good multi purpose outfit and size. I'll throw some lures and drop some bait too I expect. What kg I need, and good lure choices. Anything... Im flying blind 🤩
If you only want 1 set up id get a 5000 to 6000 size spin reel, 30lb braid PE 3 rod will land you just about anything

Ive got the 460, good boats for bang for buck. Personally if you arent going to do much creek work and mainly fish the islands id go a 490, i feel like im pushing the limits of the 460 but it handles everyrhing i throw at it
I do mainly creek work with the hopes of good weather send it to the islands
Well in that case ive had my 460 100k offshore, pick your weather right and it just comes down to how much fuel you carry
What conditions would you look for GT’s?
And would you do the same technique?
Id look for more current and more prominent points with deeper water

You will be blown away by how many options there are, check the zoning maps first as there are alot of green zones. The islands opposite white haven beach are a good starting point.

@@blakebartley9636 yeah southern end of hazelwood has produced for us in the past, but when you get there and start looking you will see the options are endless, what kind of fishing are you planning, something similiar to whats in this vid?
Honestly mate that type of fishing is new to me. Being from down south all we get excited about is kingys and tuna.
I'm to chase trout using your vids. Last time I hired a boat but simply couldn't find anything. However I didn't go to Whitehaven.... figured it was too far.

nice sesh on the trout there bloke!! every time I try stickbaits I donut, gotta use 5 inch paddle tails if I wanna catch them haha. im gunna give it a try again next time out (when the wind lets up) what size leader do you use on that one??
I usually run around the 60lb which can be an overkill but every now and then you run into a flats GT, if you cant get a nib on stickbaits try downsize to around the 100mm stickbait
@@gripnripfishing866 awesome, I've got some 60lb so I'll run that next time, yeah I've just got some new better stickbaits so hopefully they are more enticing than the cheap ones. Good to see you use a loop knot as well, I was wondering weather to run swivel and a split but I'll keep running the loop, cheers.
@@Hugo-bx3qc yeah sometimes ill run a swiv and split ring if i think im gonna change a bit, have a look at the nashy custom lures srick baits in 120mm and 100mm they are my go to for trout round the islands

This style of fishing will work all over the islands and not just at the whitsundays
