@dudenamedzelda3179 considering that if you compare how drastically different zero plays from after x3, and also that almost no concessions were made for bringing over axl's moveset (I mean he even has his copy shot), I'd argue that changing zero to be something he wasn't in x8 *doesn't* stay true to the vision, at least looking at the other two characters by comparison. Zero *should* be a melee fighter, not just x with a lightsaber he keeps in his back pocket
my boy is finally here. (honestly the biggest reason I wasn't super interested in the demake was the decision to cut zero and axl. this makes me way more excited)
Kudos to the modder adjusting the dialogue to account for Axl differing from X, namely how he didn't know who Vile was at all (for those who noticed, he glanced at Zero behind X, which prompted him to explain Vile to him). I personally feel adapting his playstyle into the 16-bit edition might need some adjustment to account for the "limitations" of the format, though, just from watching the Noah's Park segment. First and foremost is how to make him stand out better from X... yes, Axl can hover and fire in different directions. but X had that with the Fourth Armor and X4-6 Ultimate Armor on the former, and Classic series Bass had the rapid fire in many directions. Something I was fond of in X7 (yes, THAT X7) where Axl would gain an assortment of buffs if he destroyed most enemies with his Copy Shot. sometimes it was a temporary shield in front of him, other times it was just an extra HP pickup. the humanoid enemies look like they could have some minor shakeups with the weapons they're holding, like the saber with substantial range for one swing, or the shield bearers blocking most stuff. Command Mission made him into a summoner archetype where he would use one defeated boss's attack, Axl may be a prototype, but it wouldn't be impossible for him to gain something that rivals Lumine stage 1. I also think Axl should gain a means of strafing slightly while firing and hovering. the original X8 accounted for the control stick by having Axl fire shots in between the main 8 angles, allowing him to strafe with his Hover while firing might be able to help get around that limitation in the sprite. finally, this last bit is purely wish fulfillment on my part, but I'd also be interested to see how Dr. Light would adapt X's Armor upgrades to work for Axl (and potentially Zero), considering in X5 he at least made some effort to support Zero by providing the Black Zero upgrade.
I'm really glad someone made this! I don't usually play the other characters, but even then I found it kinda disappointing how the creator didn't want to include zero and axl. It wouldn't been whatever if it weren't for the fact that he went out of his way to create, animate, and program a whole ass new secret boss being red (who even likes him?)

@@soundwavegaming4957 extra playables are a whole different kettle of fish to an extra boss from the backend. the goal was always to make a mmx fangame that has a controlled scope so that it won't die in dev hell. that doesn't mean that no fun bonuses could be added - it just means that he had to choose fun bonuses that weren't going to add a huge workload. this mod being made so (relatively) quickly is really impressive on the modder's behalf, not implicative of anything on the original dev's behalf, and it's of no surprise to me that they chose to add axl rather than zero (who would cause much more issues)

Axl is a cool character, he unlucky was introduced in the worst mega man game but regardless his design in really cool and his move set as well.
Best weapon for axl has to be that of panda's.. X has more variety of weapons then axl
Mod is good, but is very hard. Axl should be able to make more damage.
in the 1.0.0.4 version (only for testers). Axl is dealing a way better damage on Bosses, more close to the Axl we have in Mega Man X Engine
