  • Last night was the 2020 NBA draft, and Colin Cowherd shares his thoughts on the event. Although Colin wishes the players that were drafted luck, hear why he thinks the NBA is failing by demonizing College Basketball, and whether he thinks there were any stand outs in this draft. Plus, Colin talks LaMelo Ball, and what his future with Michael Jordan's Charlotte Hornets will look like.

Exactly. RJ Hampton was a top 5 prospect going into this draft and went overseas because he wanted to make his own path, which is fine, but it killed his draft stock and now outside of huge basketball nerds nobody knows who he is, what his game is like, or cares. He's going into the NBA with no brand. Outside of exceptions like LaMelo who has an older brother in the NBA and got publicity that way that's what happens if you go play overseas.

“Lamelo is a decent shooter, Lonzo is a terrible shooter.” This statement is factually incorrect. Lamelo is coming into the nba a 25% 3pt shooter, granted most of that is due to poor shot selection but his release is just as broken as lonzos was when he entered the league. Yes, college helps build personal brands before the draft but it also helps build the NCAA brand and the NBA brand at the cost of the players who were not allowed to make money there (until next year but even then the rules are vague.) Wherever the talent goes, eyes will follow and most likely the path in the end will be the G league because it's more aligned with the NBA brand and they'll be paid straight up.

They have waayyy too many games, and without defense and physical play the games are only interesting and relevant for the last two minutes (unless one team has run away with it, and then it isn't interesting at all).
