One of my favorite games is from the Sega Dreamcast good luck trying to get the console keep it working and play games on it I emulating that game it is called toy Commander and it has never been released since
Emulation is the treasure vault of video games. If not for that, many games would fall into complete oblivion. But of course, for that guy we are dirty pirates, casuals, greedy people. He can't really see past his ignorance and convictions. What a shame.
This dudes crazy. I've been gaming since the Atari 2600. I've never started an older game on one of my flat screens and thought. Damn, I sure wish I had a crt tv to play on, the screen size and resolution is too much. Also good luck finding an Atari 2600, Intellivision, or Colecovision, that works well. Also his car analogy is dumb. A lambo cost more than most people could ever afford back then, but almost anyone could afford a Fiero.
I agree. He never experienced those old CRT TVs and game consoles when they were new, as you and I did. I no longer own any CRT TVs or monitors and I'm fine with that. My old 3DO console needs a laser assembly. I don't know if I'm going to bother to replace it. However, if I want, I can simply use the 4DO emulator on my PC and play all of my original 3DO game disks with no problems. I even have multiple different PC game controllers to choose from.
He literally said he would emulate some Saturn games he doesn't own, but wouldn't emulate other consoles. Kinda like everyone else who emulates. Yeah I'm only going to emulate games I want to play, and not games I don't want to play. Imagine that.
at 5:43 he says the games been robbed of it's experience since it's not on a CRT but there are actually ways to get a pretty accurate CRT filter on a lot of emulators not least of which is retroarch which has like 100 options for filters including pretty damn accurate CRT emulation.
My biggest counter to this is that you need, like, 20 different consoles to play everything you want to play in their original forms. I _despise_ how you have to own _so many_ consoles to legally play a lot of these games.
I just can't grasp how can you call greedy those people who are not willing to purchase a hardware and games that *were discontinued* and *not available at stores* anyways? If my single purpose is to play older games, should I bother giving money to a third party to get a worse option? Neither devs nor the platform would profit from it, but some dude with a rare piece of hardware or cartridge could get filthy rich instead, that's if those even ever made it to a particular region.
He's just a Elitist gatekeeper in the Comments He doubled down on his BS and started calling people who use Emulators to play older games thieves and pirates just because we don't want to pay the ridiculous out of control prices people are asking for older games some of which are not even rare also I wouldn't be surprised if he turned out to be one of those people who buy older games for cheep and then flips them online on Ebay for hundreds of dollars it would explain why he's calling us thieves.
Yo thanks to emulation I got to play the terrible pirates of the Caribbean ps2 game I never beat as a kid, ultimate alliance 1&2, as well as Budokai Tenkaichi 3 the best dbz game I never got to play as a kid. When I showed my dad he had me download a bunch of games not on his mini snes it was fun playing co-op games together. And this was just all on my MacBook, emulation has kinda pushed me towards pc gaming
If you were to sit this man in front of two CRTs, one of them displaying original hardware and the other emulation, he wouldn't be able to tell the fucking difference. I guarantee it. Unless the real hardware performs _worse_ than the emulation, but some emulators are capable of replicating even that.
Sitting on your chair infront of the PC: nono "Once you are sitting right infront of it, your eyes adjust and it's great": yesyes. The dude is suffering from serious nostalgia goggles. One thing that I will give him is that some old games look better on a crt, because their pixel graphics were made with the blur of the crt in mind, although I am sure that can be emulated too.
6:15 Plus PC has a LOT of options of how you can customize your look for these games, along with a good selection of software to emulate that look. I prefer Shader Glass, since I pull off a lot of choices, from Windows 95 esque monitor look, Home CRTs, or even full on arcade ports from the 90s for my MAME games. It also looks great for a good selection of modern games, and makes 16 bit games look like a gem.
I'm 40. I grew up with the NES, SNES, PS, GC, and so forth. And I disagree with practically every word that came out of his mouth. Okay, I wasn't gonna comment, this is a 5 month old video... But holy fuck the man's completely out of his mind. To preface, playing Gamecube games on the Wii isn't emulation, the Wii has genuine Gamecube hardware in it. In fact, the Wii is just a more powerful Gamecube actually. I could play my gamecube games on the Wii on my TV. But modern displays showcases how bad older resolutions are. On a CRT, it's not bad because CRTs aren't accurate or pixel dense enough, so they mask much of the jank. But on newer hardware, hoo boy. I'd rather play emulated PS2 games. I'd rather play emulated PS1 games. those older systems were designed for an age of low pixel counts and low fidelity. CRTs excel in one thing, pixel response time. A CRT is fast as hell, even surpassing OLED displays. It's the reason Duck Hunt doesn't work on emulators as well, because LCDs aren't fast enough. Edit: And while I might not be old enough to be a child when most retro consoles were out. I did experience up to the PS3 in CRT. Hell, my first console was the NES... on CRTs. I'm not missing the CRT days.

I have a CRT monitor next to my IPS Gsync 144hz monitor, I use the CRT for emulation ans some retro inspired modern games, both displays connected to my graphics card, you can have the upgrades that emulation brings + CRT. I think nor you or him are aware of just using a CRT with a PC.

Well here's a even more elitist console hottake for you: I find old fast paced 2d platformers like the mega man x games almost unplayable with a controller. The first time I played those titles, I played the PC ports using a keyboard and that was perfect for such hard games that demand precise and quick control. With a keyboard you are free to allocate almost all of your fingers to each one of the games' many buttons. While with the default controller layout you have to press jump, dash, x buster and special weapon with a single thumb. What can I say? I'm a PC master race at heart.
The dumb part of the video was him comparing cars to video games video game consoles.... Fanboys are showing us their intelligence is decreasing steadily every day
I think the review of the video is a little off, I think he's talking about people who are unwilling to pay for games or hardware and use emulation to get around that. I don't think he's talking about anything released by owners of the IP
i personally laugh at people who pay for something you can get for free online with regards to video games cause lets face it why on earth would you pay for something someone else gets for free somewhere with regards to software etc the dudes opinion and all others who share it holds no sway in whether you should emulate or not and it shouldnt and if ppl let it affect their decision ill laugh at them too emulation is the only reason i ever played retro games heck its the reason i play modern games that and sailing the high seas and its not because of a lack of money its because of all the things i could spend my hard earned cash on food, water, a roof over my head, f@cking pixels on a screen seems like a waste much rather do what jack sparrow does

I also play them on pc using dolphin
And yes thank you for speaking out about this
Tmnt 2003 is an underrated banger
My childhood game
Used to play it for 10 hours everyday when I was a kid
I remember fully finishing it
Loved every moment of it
It was a HUGE part of my childhood❤️
I’m an old head. I still have my childhood Genesis. I emulate stuff like arcade games and shit that just isn’t really available. I don’t see the point of buying a super grafx to play like 3 games.
Do you know what a boomer is?
also CRTs suck. I hated playing on them even when I was a kid.
Even when he played the games on his CRT it looked like shit lol
how cant you take him for real when he has like 5 games behind him lol i got more games sitting behind my tv lol and i still use emulators and i got thousands of games lol
I'm excited about the new Dragon Ball Z Budokai Tenkaichi game!
Funny I use rmulate PSone and PS2 games to my PC. I use Orginal Ps1/PS2/PS3 Disc in PC-BluRay drive. I still have my PS2 and PS3. Still I use my PC to emulate those Orginal Disc games....
Honestly?
I don't blame you bro, keyboard is GODLY for precise 2D games.
It's also really good for fighting games too.
The dumb part of the video was him comparing cars to video games video game consoles.... Fanboys are showing us their intelligence is decreasing steadily every day
Sworry, buut Canadianese makes me laugh
Also please I hope this guy is a troll chanel. Because there's no way in god's green earth people really has a mentality like this.
So stop preserving games because their not the original games. Do I got this right?
Genuine Question
He does have a brain , right? Right?
I think the review of the video is a little off, I think he's talking about people who are unwilling to pay for games or hardware and use emulation to get around that. I don't think he's talking about anything released by owners of the IP
When companies no longer release older games and stuff online is way too damn expensive then emulation makes far more sense.
I'm pretty sure that his comment page is disabled so yeah who's soft again?
Wow this guy is hard to listen to especially the part with Pontiac..?
i personally laugh at people who pay for something you can get for free online with regards to video games
cause lets face it why on earth would you pay for something someone else gets for free somewhere
with regards to software etc
the dudes opinion and all others who share it holds no sway in whether you should emulate or not and it shouldnt and if ppl let it affect their decision
ill laugh at them too
emulation is the only reason i ever played retro games
heck its the reason i play modern games that and sailing the high seas
and its not because of a lack of money its because of all the things i could spend my hard earned cash on
food, water, a roof over my head, f@cking pixels on a screen seems like a waste much rather do what jack sparrow does
So buying newer games is bad?
Emulation is fine but not buying new software is dumb!
