I wish I had bothered to look at UA-cam while i was growing out my hair. I kept getting negative comments from strangers and acquaintances. My hair looked like yours for the longest time. It seemed like it wasn't growing at all and then one day it was all grown out, and a simple haircut took off all the brown dye. It took about a year and a half. I didn't realize that going "natural" was a thing. I just knew I was tired of running after the roots. I'm inordinately pleased with my results.
I'm so glad to hear you are pleased with your hair!! I like how you describe it-tired of running after the roots-I felt the same way!
Extremely helpful video. Thank you. You had a wonderful hair transition!
Thanks for doing this research. It took me a long time to figure out what these terms were referring to but even the. I didn’t know if they would work for my hair. Your explanation helped make them much easier for me to understand.
I'm so glad to hear this!
Thank you for sharing.
Thanks! I'm still considering..I'll let you know what I've decided..You're an inspiration and support by all means..Thanks! ❤
Please do let me know! No matter what you decide, the only opinion that matters is yours ❤️
@@DitchingDietsDye I bought a hair dye and now it sits in my pantry. ☺ I don't have the courage to ise it. 😆 But I'm thankful that I was brave enough to even buy that silver dye. Now I don't know what will be..I'll let you know what's happening..Yeah I know, I'm so indecisive, it's hilarious even to me. 🤣 What can I do? I have to live with myself..🤣 Thanks a lot for the support!!! ☺💖
Stay away from toners! If you have dark grow out mixed with your silver it will lift your dark to an orange. It ruined 5 months of my original grown out grey and dark roots. Then i had to completely start over. Toner is typically mixed with developer which does lift. Be careful.
Thanks for sharing your experience. I'm sorry that you had to start over-that's so frustrating. Most of the research I did recommended getting a professional to do it and try to avoid using toner at home.
@@DitchingDietsDye Yep! With my salon closed I thought I'd try it myself. Big mistake. Oh well. All part of the learning process. Thanks for sharing your journey.
Yes, I think people use toner to mean purple shampoo but it also means a semi-permanent dye
You look adorable with that hair length and color. You're an inspiration!
Thank you 😊
@@DitchingDietsDye My daughter will be 40 in Feb and she is going gray with a cute very short cut on side and then longer on top. I admire her so much. She looks really young and I am dying to see what her gray looks like. I am 69 and still dying every month, but I keep saying I am ready to be real!! That's why I find you inspiring. I wish I had done the no dye thing at 40.
@@frannieb5203 We are only ready when we're ready-and no sooner 😊
Your hair looks really pretty. The waves and curls help the transition. The big chop is probably where I am headed. I am growing out a pixie while transitioning. Double whammy. Our salons are in lockdown again. So six weeks in and 3/4in. demarcation and growing.
Thank you 😊 And, yes, I think the curls/waves definitely help. Luckily it's winter in Canada, so hats are an easy option 😉
I am not getting a pixie cut. 😅
thanks
Hi Kat! Nice to meet you! I didn't know a lot of the terms, but with Black-American natural, we don't do the same things to our hair like a other cultures.
Great video 👍 ☺️
Thank you 🤗
Just found you! I love your disposition and your channel. I know I'm over a year behind, but I thought I'd try, lol. Who is your colorist that did the transitions you posted the pic of? Curious if it was closer than Jack Martin:)
Hi I am going naturally gray. I have red naturally curly hair. Any suggestions. The roots are gray in front and no gray in the back yet
What if you got a reverse dye strip. Where the hair surrounding your part and the face framing pieces of the is dyed to match the grey and you hide the demarcation line in the meantime.
I have never dyed my hair and now that it's starting to go white I'm just gonna rock it and maybe eventually play around with overtone.
You're gonna look great with your natural hair colour, good luck and I look forward to seeing your process
That's such an interesting idea-the reverse dye strip! I'm not sure I've heard anyone mention that before 🤔 Also, I love that you are just going to rock the white!
I have grey blending so much more easier for me anyway 🇬🇧❤️xx
Is overtone a brandname for the product? I’m loving my length and don’t want to cut it but I’m not liking all the different colors! Maybe overtone will blend everything. I learned my lesson to always do a strand test first!
Yes, Overtone is the brand name. There are lots of videos on UA-cam showing different Overtone shades. I personally haven't tried it, but I have been intrigued about playing with some of the fun colours on my dyed hair.
Did you use any toner or products? Your hair is blending very well. Can you give examples of names of product like toner?
I do not use any toning products. On a whim I bought some purple drops you can add to leave-in products, but haven't really used them.
Well, I don't have yellow hair. 😂 I think the going grey in secret isn't a great idea because you keep dyeing your hair. That would look weirder than just having all grey hair. And in my case I've become allergic to the dye so I'm just going cold turkey. Surprisingly my natural hair doesn't look as bad as I thought it will look no products needed. 😁
How about the term “Grombre”? You’re definitely rocking the grombre. Looks great!
I do love that term!!
I have joined Instagram #grombre hair 🇬🇧
I really love your channel!!! We may need to do a collaboration! 🙌🏻🍑Lisa Peaches Skin Care
