Indeed, you learn martial arts not to fight someone, of course it is self defense but the essence of Martial Arts is not just about fighting! Because if you learn it and you don't have a good attitude and discipline you did not learn Martial Arts at all!
I suspected that he learned this from the internet? I can not judge this sifu's Praying Mantis or other Northern or Southern kung fu due to my ignorance, but his Pakmnei just lacks the East River Kung Fu flavor. His footwork is stiff and he does not understand Pakmei's unique way of exerting force. If you do not look at his individual techniques this set is not different from his other non-Pakmei kung fu, with the same overall body movement and footwork. Much like eating at a typical Hong Kong cafe with a hundred items on the menu but they all taste the same because the chef uses the same soup for gravy, and uses the same amount of salt, soy sauce, species, and MSG. We Chinese are already limited by lack of muscle genes but most Chinese who learn Kung Fu do not do any weight resistance training or practice lion dance with a 20 to 25-pound lion head-our traditional way of weight lifting. You walk into any Kung Fu studio in HK and you would always see a few muscular men, usually older than the rest of the skinny kids. They are the senior students and the lion dancing crew. They punch and swing the Kwan Sword with good force. Lacking muscle and power this sifu's nice Praying Mantis is nothing more than flowery movements. He needs to put on 20 pounds of muscle to match his kung fu.
Sa L@ I'm with you in your query. His skill & knowledge of martial arts of different schools are only theoretical but nothing intrinsic. At the beginning I was somewhat moved by his effort but then I turned my impression from my understanding.
His Pak Mei may seem seem to lack the Dong Gong flavour based on the standard that is common in Hong Kong. However I have seen some of the Pak Mei that is descended from Cheung Lai Chuen's early students in Guangzhou play their Pak Mei similar to him.
Thankyou Master 👏 👍 I love to see Bak Mei 👌
Love this

Oh, look!!! A dancing stick figure!
This is not true pak mei kung fu from Cheung Lai Chun lineage

My take is whichever type of kung fu, without the internal qi, they are all for show only......though they may be able to take on a normal layman.

Sorry Bud but nah
This guy does not hav d essence of pakmei structure or fahging. He may know lots but he is a master of nothing.
