  • A deep dive into the various types and grades of professional test equipment we use to make sure the gear we sell is working as it should.
    WHO WE ARE
Skyfi Audio is a small startup business specializing in the purchase, reconditioning, and reselling of select high end audio equipment. We only buy equipment that we admire and are passionate about. No mid-fi, no gimmicks, and no junk.
Each piece of equipment is cosmetically restored and fully tested in our well-equipped lab by an engineer with 30+ years of experience in the HiFi world. If it does not meet or exceed the original manufactures specifications, it will not be sold. We are very selective about the equipment we purchase, focusing on mostly analog, high-build quality, American, and European built units.

Thanks for providing a benchmark on which to compare; this was helpful for me. Just the right level of detail.

nice tidy set up. again having more than 40 years in the electronic and pro audio business in New Zealand I took a look to glean a few more ideas and helpful tips.
Patch bay well done but we need more XLR and Speakon connectors and balanced interfaces for our tasks.
Loved the swivel base for heavy items and the swivel soldering holders.
    Keep the ideas coming :-)

The Sencore going into the dim bulb is a great idea. Love the Audio Research pre in the center of it all. Great bench set up overall. Now, I’ve gotta clean mine up and organize it nicely like that one! 🎶🔊🙂

The in-line RCA jacks is a stellar set up. Sadly, I can’t seem to find anything close to that without making my own. Guess that’s what I’ll have to do.

Love the bench! I just moved to Montville NJ and love it here so far. I’ll keep you in mind for any HiFi related purchase I make. Do you still have the Kenwood L-07D turntable that was featured in Steve’s video? I have the matching L-07C preamp and L-07M monoblocks. Also, do you happen to work on other people’s gear? I have a Sansui TU-9900 that has a couple problems. Anyway, thanks!

I’ve been looking for a good tech close to where I live in NJ, but the closest highly recommended one I could find is in Cornwall NY. Any suggestions? Thanks!!!

Hi Connor and thanks for the feedback. Yes we still have the L-07D and I think its a keeper. No we dont work on other peoples stuff, too much of our own gear to test and upgrade. Cheers .

So I started pricing Sencore….😮😢. It seems I need to win the lotto first, before I begin.

Hello, nice setup! I use the Sencore PR570 on my bench. I don't have a dim bulb tester. I usually turn up the voltage gradually while monitoring the current draw. That works fine with mechanical power switches, but not so with a relay turn on. I like your dim bulb tester. Was it commercially purchased or did you bulid it yourself? When you're not going through the Sencore and using the dim bulb, is it isolated? If you bought the dim bulb tester could you give me the name of the manufacturer. It looks more compact then the one I would builf myself with a modified outlet box. Thanks for any information you can provide.

Hi Tom. The dim bulb tested is home made from a few commonly found electrical boxes and fittings. The acrycic cover is also readily available. I use the dim bulb tester primarily for tube electronics and can choose between it and the PR570 at the flip of a switch, quite convenient. For larger amps Bens bench next to mine as a larger version of the 570, cant recall the model but its hard to find.
