when you're making the line below does it need to be in a certain degree or it doesn't matter?
No. There is no fixed degree to used. You can use what ever degree you want. Generally, I recommend using a degree in the 30°-45° range. Don't need to make it hard for yourself by using a very small or huge degree. Hope this helps. Try different degrees and you will see the result remains the same.

what happens if the BC line is longer than what you need to divide the line into? is the maths going t be different, and will you still draw a 60mm line if you have a line of 120mm but stil to be divided into 6?
The method remains the same. If its 120mm, you can still use 60mm if its 6 equal parts. You can even use 120mm if you want and use every 20mm to make it 6 equal parts
