  • In this tutorial we show how to tie a versatile Klemheist Knot.
This adjustable friction knot and is perfect for attaching a tarp to a ridgeline or to make adjustable guy lines for a tarp or tent. The Klemheist is a slide and grip knot, that locks onto the cordage, when pressure is applied to the loop from one direction.
Start with a piece of GO! Line about 10 inches in length. Fold it in half and tie an overhand loop near the ends. Place the center of the loop about ½” past the main rope and wrap the knot end tightly around the main rope without allowing the strands to twist.
You can tie this knot with either four or five turns. Five turns will grip better and is recommended for tarp ridgelines. Pass the knot end through the loop and pull tight.
When a load is applied to the loop from one direction, the knot will grip onto the main rope, yet it can be easily adjusted by pinching the knot when no load is present. You can use a small carabiner to connect this loop to a tie off point on tarp or tent, or tie a piece of GO line to the loop and then to a tie out loop. With a little creativity, I think you will find lots of uses for this knot.
GO! Line will soon be available at go-outfitters....
Thanks for watching! More videos are coming soon.
