You can use business card holders. I keep one in every room. Made of mesh metal, cost about a dollar back when I bought them .. they are probably four dollars nowadays 😂

I've been using a Cookbook Easel for my Tablet for at least two decades 😅. For my phone I use a MINIATURE PICTURE FRAME EASEL. Both work great 👍.

Great idea, but I would glue the blocks together differently. 1st two like you did, but other two to the side of them instead. Tgat way it woukd create a ledge.

The only thing that id add was a cutout in the middle of the piece the phone rests on. Then you can plug in a power cable while the phone rests on (if your phone has a plug in port)..
