They were such a disappointment last year with what was supposed to be a very talented squad that expectations in 2024 (for me) are fairly low. Beat up on the small, weak teams, and lose to equal programs. It's been a ten year journey of the same thing over and over at some point, thinking fans are going to be in a "show me" mode from this head coach.

I just love it when people who've (presumably) never built an organization *inside* a larger, more cumbersome organization (much less build said organization into something resembling an elite performer) talk about CJF like they're Nick Saban. No mention or consideration of the very traditional university they play for or the internal battles that have been fought to just break even and spend the money to simply be competitive (salaries, stadium, facilities).
All of that, for the uninitiated, is beyond daunting on its own. Now, add in new university president, new athletic director, a board of trustees that does everything at a slug's pace, NIL, a hyper-critical media, a traumatized fanbase, *and* the transfer portal, and you can just begin to imagine effort and focus it has taken to win 10 & 11 games as often as they have....
People who know what it takes to win at anything don't whine and complain about what it takes. They know the stumbles are part of the process.

One of the more irritating things that has been spoken about in regards to the conference alignment is a lot of the media, cowherd in particular, saying man it’s going to be so good to watch Michigan go against USC. Or Texas Georgia.
What’s crazy is we could’ve always had these matchups, but the conferences were too cowardly to force them to play other power five teams, there shouldn’t be allowed a cupcake game anywhere in the schedule so I will continue to say that worst case scenario should be the 64 and 64 model that Chip Kelly had recommended

The damage being done by paying college students to play may well up destroying the sport. In the past, you'd forgive the kid for making a mistake because he was young, he's doing his best and he's an amateur. Now you realize he's a minor league player perhaps making more than you and me, and thus no longer immune from criticism.
Same for the coach. It's no longer about molding young men into productive adults. That's secondary to winning.
So before our eyes College Sports becomes professional sports and *everybody* has to be judged on wins/loses of teams and coaches if they can't win the championship coaches get dumped in favor of someone who can.
It's not what I want, but the players insisted, TV money is paying the bills and so suddenly nobody can claim to be doing it for the love of the game.

Unsurprisingly the hate on PSU is insane in the comments.
People hate that program because it is undeniable they see them as a threat to their programs (Ohio State, Michigan, etc.)
All Penn state needs is a signature win vs a top 3 program in the country (OSU given the schedule this year) to be a legit national championship contender immediately. It’s a very tall order given Ohio state has a legit 40 million dollar payroll. However, if Franklin can do it, it’ll propel PSU into natty conversations barring injuries.
Franklin needs to make the playoff this year, no doubt. If he does he meets job expectations. He can do it with another 10-2 season with a loss to OSU.
Lastly, people all cite his record vs ranked opponents. 1- the ranked opponents he plays are almost always elite Michigan and Ohio state teams. And 2- show me the record vs ranked programs of YOUR school. If it isn’t OSU, Michigan (in last three years), Georgia, Alabama, LSU, OU, or Clemson since 2015 the others aren’t better or barely clear him…thus leaving Penn State around the 8-12 range of best programs over the past 8 seasons. If they hit that mark again, they are playoff bound.

Franklin, the driver to Penn State mediocrity. He’s a decent coach who has no game day skill which is deadly when it comes to big game wins. Once again, you can count on 2-3 losses. The new excuse-NIL money. How did UM win and beat OSU? They got a great coach. If the O is awful again, Coach K will be the next head on the chopping block.

😂😂...the foolery that our fan base tells themselves is astounding. I should no longer be shocked at the morons, like yourself, that convince themselves of this stuff.
