Unfortunately he was in denial about his alcohism so his self awareness didn't kick in until it was too late. Still a extremely talented person and spoke elequently, a huge miss.... R.I.P Richard .

He lived in purto Vallarta and often sat with my Mexican friend outside his home up high from the noisy town drank some beers 🍺 and was very relaxed there often learning his lines with a tape recorder! My friend became good friends with I believe his last wife Sally! Super nice guy ❤

you are not alone, Mr. Burton. More and more I am hearing about famous actors. I won’t mention their names, but one of them lives in Montana, another one lives in his New York City apartment, with his family, another one lives in a beautiful, setting along the coast of California overlooking the ocean, they rarely leave home. Not because they’re afraid, it’s that, they just enjoy being home.
i’m retired, I’m the same way, I live in a pretty secluded area away from traffic and people and busy highways, and I can see houses around, but I don’t know any of the people. It is actually not a great idea to become too chummy with neighbors. Good fences make good neighbors is very true. Even if there are no fences…
there are people that have the same feelings, but very much more intense, one story I heard, was of a man that would actually go out to the mailbox backwards, he would walk backwards to the mailbox, so that if he got an anxiety attack, he would not have to take the time to turn around to scamper back into the house..
my wife and my adult children talked me into going to the shore for a week. I had not been to the shore for vacation for decades. Now my adult children and my grandchildren and my wife and I, we rented a house with five bedrooms right on the ocean here on the East Coast, seven hours away from home. I reluctantly agreed to go.
I ain’t going in that water, the sun was hot, the sand is hard to walk on, and even though the house was right on the beach, and it was a private beach, the house was still about 300 feet back from the ocean. They gave my wife and I the penthouse, which was larger than our first apartment with a hot tub. in the gigantic bathroom. The penthouse part of that mansion had three balconies. It was a great view.
but apart from the hot sun and the difficulty in walking in the sand, I did not know that flies drew blood. They do, and they are relentless… being right next to the ocean, the waves were so loud when trying to sleep, even with the windows shut..
I couldn’t figure out how to operate the large TV in the main living room, I couldn’t find anything I wanted to watch on television at night, you can only take so much sitting out on one of the decks, watching the waves, or sitting down at the beach with your feet in the sand, being eaten alive by the sand flies, wearing sunscreen and insect repellent. We bought a temporary fishing license for me and my sons, I actually bought ocean fishing equipment used off of eBay with those long rides and the big reels. i’m here to tell you, there are no fish in the ocean. We tried for three days using different baits.. no fish
there are dolphins, we saw them every day, there are also lots of seagulls.
apparently, there are lots and lots of crabs that come out of the ocean at night up onto shore, because there were groups of people walking with 5 gallon buckets, just picking up crabs and putting them in the buckets at night using powerful spotlights..
but after four days, I had enough. I took my dog and went back home by myself. My wife came home with one of our kids…
I told them, I didn’t want to come here in the first place. I stuck it out for four days, I’ve had enough, I’m going home, goodbye.
