You resolved the issue great but I'm sorry to say that you are wrong, error 21 is for bms communication error, means that the main board can't communicate with pcb inside internal battery. That communication happens through the white connector but it isn't for each individual cell, but rather for serial communication with internal bms. What you said wouldn't make sense because of it beeing 10 cells, four connectors isn't enough for 10 cells. ;) Nevertheless good explenation and good that you resolved peoples issues!

I followed you tip ,took apart the battery and the controller then reconnected the cable. Voila! No more error 21

This fixed my Error 21. But it was extremely difficult removing all the parts getting to the control panel. Afterwards I just repluged the white connectors and fixed the issue. I had to buy Pliers for this job too.

You know the circular black part that looks like the lid to the battery, the part with a single black wire sticking out? I'm referring to the part after you have turned the locking mechanism and pulled it up, well I cant pull it out through the top of the bar to remove the thing no matter how hard I grip with pliers, so I was wondering if you had any advice since you claimed to have already solved your problem.

Fixed my error 21! You’ll need 3-4 different sized allen wrenches, a screw driver, and a little bit of patience👍🏽 done in about a hour for my first time.

@@uk_cobra1896 if you have error 21 and that didn’t fix it, your motherboard in your scooter is probably damaged.

the cell balancing is done by the BMS thats inside of the battery, theres 3 microprocessors in each of these scooters. the communication between the dash, battery and motor driver is a serial I2C connection and thats what the yellow and white wires are for, the red and black are the charging cables. EDIT: i forgot to mention that even though the black and red wires next to the white and yellow wires are for charging the battery, the batterie's BMS wont charge the battery if it doesnt talk to the motor driver so you cant charge the battery externally unless you have flashed a custom BMS fimware for the battery. these scooters are designed this way to discourage theft. the parts are not interchangeable unless you reflash all three components.

hey man you've saved my life. i had this error once before, replaced the motherboard. a month later error 21 re-occurs. after checking out your video, gave it a try. and behold there was a loose wire from the battery. save me money and precious shipping time. thanks a bunch!
oh, 1 more thing, before it worked again, i tried reconnecting the wires and tested it to no avail. gave it a dash of contact spray on the connectors and gave it a try. boom! working again!

The water detective sticker is red, it is water damaged, the internal battery may be short.

If you have everything removed and unscrew from the tube there are round plugs on each end of the tube that turn 90 degrees and will slide out with the battery

Brand new ES4 giving Error 21 here. Did you really only need to remove the front screws? It seems like you would also need to remove the two screws on the back… which are under a warranty sticker for me.

I’m hoping it’s just a battery that needs to be woken up after storage but I doubt it because it stopped beeping when I kicked it… exactly like my old ES3 Plus (Costco ES4) with Error 42. That one was a bad connection to the external battery where you could even see the melted connector when you separate them.

BATTERY REMOVAL) PLEASE someone HELP ME!
I own a Segway ninebot ES1 and I've been getting the same annoying error 21. So I removed the handle grips which was a relatively easy task and I also removed the screws at the bottom disconnecting the four connectors from the wheel, then went the extra mile by purchasing some needle nose pliers today and after putting forth quite an effort, I finally managed to unlock the top part, the circular part above the battery, but had to chip away bits of plastic in order to turn it, then to my dismay I came to the conclusion that the part underneath it which looks like the lid to the battery, the part that has a wire sticking out of it, seems to be jammed. I tried shaking it out but to no avail and no matter how hard I grip with pliers I can't seem to get it out or remove it from the bar. So I'm kind of in a dilemma here because If I apply anymore pressure by squeezing together hard with the pliers I'll probably break parts of the plastic cap to the battery trying to pull it up or out. What should I do?

The code on my ES3 is only there for a second when I turn it on, then just the wrench. Maybe the same with the ES1.

please aswer to my question, I've this error, I've disassemble like the video but i found the mother board fully covered by a special gel and the white connector with 4 pin is impossible to unhook because it seems all glued, instead in your video I see your motherboard discovered ...how can I do? everything seems perfectly connected but after a few kilometers as soon as I stop it gives me error 21 ... why?

You may have a bad battery if everything is connected properly. I have never seen one glued in before though

Hello mine is error 19 when not unplug at charging, but when charging it have error code 21. Whats the problem? Its still ride but beep all time and show error. Maximum speed 15kph. Aplication i see only external battery. Main battery doesnt work . What i should do?
