@@theamvman4768 they did use CGI, although it was experimental and most of it was done by hand, when akira creates a new universe some CGI was used.
Hope you had a good time! It’s one of my favorite anime movies, right up there with Ghost in the Shell, Perfect Blue, Lupin the Third and the Castle of Cagliostro, Vampire Hunter D: Bloodlust, Grave of the Fireflies, Nausicaa of the Valley of the Wind, and Princess Mononoke!

Хиты 80х это без приувеличения блестяще) такая музыка и сейчас может спокойно быть хитом. Хип-хоп 90х, я снимаю шляпу, это образец высокого уровня искусства чтения под лучшие биты, на все последующие времена. Есть с чем сравнивать.)

Sumn about the old anime style is just so aesthetic. Call it nostalgia blind if you want, but I dont think present day animes can compete with that old art style like Porco Rosso, Akira, Princess Mononeke, One Piece, Naruto, Evangelion, Cowboy Beep Bop, etc.

@@pmtwgDwg-d6kyep in 80's, 90's the character design was hand drawn, they added the natural colors, the backgrounds were definitely much more asthetic and beautiful and detailed with real colors
@@pmtwgDwg-d6kBut one the most drastic change has been the the artstyle and character design they completely changed it in 2000s it was those big eyes trend and the art was much darker, but since 2010s it has become brighter and started having lighter hue which I loved the most 😂

I just now realized that at 0:03 the entrance shown is almost exactly the same as the one in Afterlife, that bar in Cyberpunk 2077... good thing CDPR put a lot of references to other well known stuff in the cyberpunk genre.

The reason why 80s and 90s Anime look so much better than now is cuz its a literall moving Manga. Nowadays everything is made digitally except Ghibli
That’s not why. They purposefully intended to not look like manga. You can look like a manga with digital animation and Ghibli has been using digital techniques for years

Look up how animation works. There’s entire documentaries covering it.
Videos like this only cover a small fragment of old anime. I grew up with this kind of anime and a lot of it wasn’t like this

What missing in today's visual design in anime is the texture of the scene. Like its too clean on both the characters and the background, no grime or dirt on the background, no scratches, tears, or creases on the characters. Which all eventually lead to the final piece looking extremely flat and boring. Of course other styles like one piece with a purposefully simpler design works with the less is more approach, but to the numerous mid anime who just leave out so much where they could've put in a bit more detail for the aesthetic benefit just lose me. I really love the look of the hand drawn anime back then, you could really FEEL the world they portrayed. A lot of modern anime still FEEL lived in but a whole lot more just feel bland and boring

I don't consider myself Otaku and I'm Mexican, but I have a story in development, an isekai manga but not of the typical medieval world, are there monsters or mythological creatures? Yes... Is the main character strong? Yes, but he is not one that defeats gods, and his story is shown throughout the story...
I mention it because, if one day they propose me to make him an anime (what expectations I have) I will ask for it to be 80's - 90's style.
They should bring back this style of anime. I don't care if it's more expensive or takes more time. It was doable before and it was the standard before, so there is no reason it can't be done now. Digital modern anime looks too clean, shiny, bright and plastic looking. I rather have good quality over quantity.
